Private Event for 110-130 People

From my experience, off premise catering usually means bringing in all the china, glasses and often tables and chairs. It can run as much as $25 per person. The upside is that you really get what you want in terms of menu and decor. Restaurants are great for smaller parties but are not really caterers and most don't have the expertise to go from serving tables over the night to large scale events that require a different type of skill and presentation. Site rentals are all over the place from $2500 to 10k and more and that is space only..sometimes tables and chairs. Look at Brooklyn Loft spaces, there are three Botanical Gardens and they are have different packages. Ethical Culture Brooklyn, Picnic House, Brooklyn will all be less money than Manhattan. Queens Farm Museum is also a unique space and very reasonable.

FH Trader Joe's top ten hits? And will Amish survive?

I have come to fine that TJ's is great for junk food shopping, cereal and other random items but its not a place for weekly "regular" shopping. I find that I buy things here that I would never even look at in a Stop & Shop. I have tried several dessert items and they are fair in quality. The chocolate on many of the items is waxy and not great quality, but they have the packaging down!

Buddy's Kosher Deli (73rd Ave, Bayside/Flushing/Oakland Gardens)?

Buddy's is just plain bad food. Sorry but nothing will ever beat the pastrami at the old Surrey Deli on Union Tpke. Place wasn't pretty but damn, good pastrami.

Cinnamon Club, Port Washington

Went last night with a group of friends/foodies for the first time. Awful awful! The staff/service was nice enough but the food was about the worst Indian we have ever had. Indian Shrimp appy was fried shrimp covered in sweet n' sour sauce. Calamari, again deep fried & served soggy with sweet sesame sauce. Chicken curry was more like caccitore with not even a hint of curry and covered in fat and was red. Chicken and Lamb Saag was like baby food with no texture and no meat and was filled with minced ginger which made no sense. We wanted to order the Curried fish with coconut curry which was SeaBass ($28) until they told us it too was deep fried. I have no problem paying for a good dish but to charge an additional $5 for rice in an Indian restaurant is absurd. In all respect, I think they are trying to "upscale" classic traditional Indian dishes and they are struggling with how to do just that. Maybe the location is cursed.

Aunt Bella's - Queens - I wanted to like it.

Ugh ugh ugh! Went tonight...first and last time. Lasagna was off..ricotta spoiled, fish overcooked..meatball parm for $5.00 was best thing it has going. Order it pick it up and leave!! Staff nice enough but not professional at all.
