MSP: Porter and Frye, Fugaise or 20.21?

I have never had a good meal at 20.21. The food there, I find, is sickeningly sweet. Everything. I found the atmosphere to be crowded and the service to be cold and snooty. Sub-par, albeit pretty food. They have had a change of chef since I've been there, so maybe things are different. I just haven't wanted to spend the money to find out...

MSP: La Belle Vie (whoo hoo!)

I ate there last night and had a fantastic meal. I ate out in the lounge and had the tagliatelle with king crab. The pasta was cooked perfectly, was well seasoned and there was a decent amount in the bowl. I agree, the crab was a little stringy, but still good. I also ordered the scallops off the larger menu. They were seared perfectly (and I'm REALLY picky about how my scallops are prepared) and served atop cod cakes. I thought the cod overpowered the taste of the scallops a bit, but if you ate them separately, they were fantastic. Overall, very happy. The service was great, the atmosphere is wonderful. I will definitely be returning.

La Bodega Tapas [Minneapolis]

Sorry! Yes, it was La Bodega in Minneapolis. And, yes, it was terrible. Solera has been good in the past. I think I'll stick with them when I want tapas.

Crab legs in Mpls

You can get fresh crawfish from a farm in Wisconsin called the Bullfrog Fish Farm. They are located in Menomonie and I'm pretty sure they ship to Mpls.

La Bodega Tapas [Minneapolis]

I went there with a friend recently and had one of the worst meals of my life. We were the only people in there, yet the meatballs came out *cold*, everything else was in a pool of grease and over cooked. If anyone is thinking about going there, I would stay away from the pork loin and the mussels. I had to spit out a rancid mussel. I heard decent things about this place before I went (authentic Spanish food, great atmosphere). Was it just a bad day?

Crab legs in Mpls

Where's a good place to get King crab legs in Mpls? PLEASE don't say Stella's...

MSP: Best Reuben Sandwich

I think Caffrey's in Uptown has the best reuben. It's big and messy and delicious!

MSP: Midweek breakfast

What about Victor's in uptown? Great cuban breakfast. The yucca fries are soooo good!

Shrimp risotto (Minneapolis)

Has anyone tried the shrimp risotto with english peas at Barbette lately? Awesome. I ate there a few months ago and was happy with the menu changes, but the new one seems even better. Fresh and simple. Who is this chef?

Incredible braised short ribs @ Town Talk [MSP]

Ever have the short ribs at barbette? Nice.

MSP: New Chef At Barbette

I've been there a few times and the menu seems to change every month or so. They also have daily specials- a meat and a fish usually. I agree about the mussels... Delicious!

MSP: New Chef At Barbette

I heard, too, that Barbette had a new chef. I went in for dinner and was told they were serving a special holiday menu for the week. We had the red deer with spetzle and a butter poached lobster with caviar. Both were absolutely amazing. The name at the bottom of the menu said 'Sarah Masters' and when I asked the server who she was she told me she worked at Spoonriver and Restaurant Alma and before that came from New Orleans. Anyone else eat there lately? I thought it was great and will be going back.
