What is the best vineyard tour in sonoma & napa counties?
Regarding the purchase of wine.....We are spending 4 days in wine country at the end of this month. As a courtesy (and of course appreciation), we would like to purchase some wine during our winery visits. How do most people transport their bottles home? We are flying back to the east coast. One or two bottles can be easily carried on the plane but six to ten might be more difficult or impossible. Not to mention the added expense. If we compile an assortment of wines and collect them in our car is there a way to ship them home before we head back to San Francisco?
marrow bones - price and defrosting?
I recently enjoyed bone marrow with oxtail marmalade in New York. What restaurants in San Francisco serve good bone marrow?
North End
We are visiting Boston for a couple of days. Looking for a nice, quiet and reasonably priced, restaurant in the north end for Monday evening. Looking at Marco. Any other ideas?
pepperdelle
Toscana sounds great with the wild boar; unfortunately we will be in town on Sunday and Toscana is closed.
Restauranr suggestions- Sunday
We will be in Boston on a Sunday this month. Toscano is closed and my other choice is Marco that serves a family style dinner that I'm not crazy about.
We like all foods with a lean toward Italian, seafood, or French. Looking for quality food and service in a "quiet" atmosphere. We will take the "T" and will travel within the city proper. Looking to spend up to $100-$125 for the two of us.
Thanks for the help.
ISLA Mexican Kitchen - TI
Has anyone dined here? I have received positive comments from others. I understand it is recognized as a more "upscale" Mexican dining experience.
Grant me three wishes
Three wishes for my stay in the finest city for dining....Thanks in advance....
The best and biggest Xdry Beefeater martini straight up with olives (old school)
The best seared fois gras and foie gras torchon
The best osso bucco

Chef and Wine Professional need advice on MUST do's for my first trip to Vegas
Mcgrath,
Very helpful..Thanks for the excellent reviews. We visit Las Vegas each year and relish the fine dining. I just turned 60, (a hard one to accept) my dad was a fine chef and we owned a restaurant for many years.
We visited Sage last year and had a great experience. The farm raised poached egg appetizer was one of the best things consumed in the city. L'Atalier and Picasso are two others on our best list. We also enjoy the Eiffel Tower Room for the food and gracious service from the staff there.
I see where you do not mention Le Cirque. We have read great reviews recently and thought we might give it a try when we visit during the first week of December. Comments?
Chef and Wine Professional need advice on MUST do's for my first trip to Vegas
I consider myself a foodie as well. Forty plus years in the business. I find Las Vegas as one of the top notch dining destinations. Some of places I've visited and suggest are:
Picasso- One of my favorite. "Classic cuisine" and great quality food and service,
L'Atalier- We sit at the bar and watch the creativity.
Sage- The poached farm raised egg appetizer is one of the best apps I've had in Vegas.
Eiffel Tower Room- Some feel this is too touristy but we visit each year. Maybe not quite as upscale as Picasso but the classic French dishes are of great quality and the service attentive and professional. The view and atmosphere can not be beat. At least visit the bar for a drink and app. The fois gras is super.
Joel Rubechon "Mansion"- Have not dined here yet. Price is a little steep formy wallet but I here it is the ultimate dining experience.

Something different
We have plans for Picasso and Sage but looking for something "casual" as well. Where can we get a great quality burger and some "good" Mexican. I've heard positive things about Isla in the Treasure Island Hotel for a Mexican.
Picasso or Le Cirque
We will be in Las Vegas in November/December for 8 days. We've dined at Picasso a couple of times and loved it. We have not tried Le Cirque yet. Can anyone compare these two fine restaurants?

Best gin martini in Las Vegas
Maybe not food related but I'm looking for the best gin martini in Las Vegas. Straight up and Xdry.
I used to get a good one at the Eiffel Tower Room but the last couple of visits, not so great.
Where can I get the best and biggest in Las Vegas?

Boston Sunday Night Dinner
Will be in Boston this Sunday (13th) and staying at the Intercontinental. Looking for a nice place (North End?) for about $125 (inclusive).
Not fussy on type of food but prefer Italian or Seafood.
Aqua Grill or others
Had a great experience at this eatery last year and was contemplating returning. We do not get to the "city" often. (once-twice a year) Has anyone dined here recently? Is it still a great place for a nice evening with my wife? Any other suggestions for a nice dining experience similar to Aqua Grill? (It does not necessarily need to be entirely seafood)
I know there are many fine restaurants and we will be dining for two evenings. We are staying at the Roosevelt but are willing to travel by cab or subway.
Micro Brew in Mid Town
We will be arriving in March for a couple of nights and staying at the Roosevelt Hotel. Where can I find a pub with an extensive selection of micro brews on draft?
Thanks
Best martini?
Where can I find the best (and biggest) martini in Boston proper? (I'm not talking about "foo foo" drinks in a martini glass, I'm talking about a classic premium x'dry gin martini with a quality olive.
Price is not an issue as long as it is justified.
La Voile Brasserie
We will be in Boston (staying for a night in the Back Bay) in a couple of weeks and (through some research) planning to dine at La Voile Brasserie.
I would be categorized as a "foodie" and enjoy all foods especially fine dining. I am especially fond of foie gras and one reason for this restaurant choice was their selection of both hot and cold versions. What else should we consider from the menu? Sweetbreads?
Or......Should I be second guessing my selection of restaurant?
Micro Brews
Arriving in Boston in a couple of weeks and staying around the Copley area. I have grown to appreciate micro brews (especially a good porter) lately and curious if there are any places that offer a wide variety of micro brews in this area. (Or any place in Boston proper)
Thanks.
Reminder- $ oysters at Legal
Is this valid for all Legal Restaurants? We will be arriving the first week in February and would like to take advantage of this great deal. I love oysters.
Need a rstaurant in the Back Bay
We are looking for a modestly priced restaurant in the back bay. (about $100 for two) Maybe something with an "old school atmosphere. Possibly a French Bistro would fit.
I looked at La Voile among others. Any other ideas? What are some of the better restaurants in the Back Bay for our price range?
North End cappuccino
Looking for a place to enjoy a cappuccino after dinner in the North End. Can anyone comment on Cafe Vittoria? (sp)
I've had this place suggested to me. Any other options?
Boston's best
If price was no object and you would suggest a romantic evening of dining in the city of Boston, where would it be?
Las Vegas
Spending a week in Las Vegas. Restaurants include: Alize, & Alex for our premier dining evenings. L'Atalier is possible but we have been there. I loved it though for the "foodie" in me.
Lunch at Joe's Crab" and thinking of Sinatra for Italian one night. Any opinions on Sinatra? We've previously dined at Picasso (fantastic) and Eiffel Tower Room.
Any comments welcome
Picasso or Alize in Las Vegas
We are traveling to Las Vegas for our annual 8 day trip and trying to decide our itinerary for dining. We hope to have one night at Alex and possibly another at L'Altalier. Depending on how the money holds up we are thinking of Alize or Picasso. Our last trip featured Picasso, the Eiffel Tower Room and L'Atlalier. We absolutely loved Picasso and thought it was one of the best dining experiences ever. I thought we would try another option and Alize looks inviting. How would you compare Alize to Picasso? We also enjoyed the Eiffel Tower Room but it certainly can't compare to Picasso. The ETR dining room is romantic, the food is good and the bartender makes a great Beefeater martini.
Thanks for the input.
