dining in downtown Atlanta

I visit often and one of my new favs is Beleza on Juniper and 8th. (Courtland originates as Juniper in midtown). It is fantastic and you could walk. Also, another favorite is the Globe off 5th near Georgia Tech. You would need to cab it but not too far.

Charleston & Kiawah recs

The Ocean Room was on of the best meals I have ever had! Make sure you try Fat Hen on John's Island off of Maybank Hwy. It is delicious and casual.

Family lunch/dinner in Charleston

From Fleet Landing you can walk a block to see Water Front Park- yes Mags and Blossoms are kid friendly but I have taken kids to both the Wreck and Fleet and you can enjoy your meal while kids watch the boats and sometimes big ship go by.

Family lunch/dinner in Charleston

The Wreck is great for scenery and seafood (and kid friendly). Bring cash or check no plastic accepted. Also, you might try Triangle (in West Ashley Hwy 17 S)- Tuesday is family day and they have a jump castle. Andolini's is great local pizza and has three locations. Also, Fleet Landing is a great way to experience the Charleston Harbor and is very kid friendly.

Charleston/Mt. Pleasant

You will be missing out if you don't go to Cru Cafe. The specials are always exciting, the soups are always delicious and the calamari is to die for. If you go for lunch make a reservation- small and very busy. The bar at Charleston Grill is great and they have a great wine list. McCrady's is also excellent. In Mt Pleastant, Langdon's is some of the best food I've had recently in the area and Red Drum is tasty and cool.

Al di La - Charleston - interesting experience - Comments?

I am glad to see that you went back and enjoyed yourself. My boyfriend and I are regulars also and also enjoy the informality of sitting at the bar. As someone who deals with restaurants on a daily basis, I would suggest speaking to the manager ANY time you feel you have had bad service at a place you frequent. Owners and managers, especially those who depend on local business like Al Di La, appreciate and encourage feed back from there regulars. How else are they to make the dining experience better? Can't fix a problem if your not aware of it. Also, as a regular, be aware of your favorite spots not so great qualities as you are of their great ones and make them part of the experience. For instance, expect the food to be a little slower coming to the table every time, and enjoy the great ambiance and try a new wine they are offering by the glass while you wait!
