Great sushi between calabasas and burbank

sushi house of taka. not mind blowing but good and just off the freeway in sherman oaks.

asanebo in studio city or go's mart in canoga for pricey but better.

brothers and katsu ya for something in between.

Korean BBQ good for big groups?

ten raku is great but one of the best things there is the spicy octopus stir fry. they make fried rice from the leftovers

Shake Shack is coming

it was always my problem with shake shack. they're good but nothing that i would consider so extremely good that it's worth double the price of in n out. i personally like the burgers at in n out more but i can understand if someone likes ss better.

i think the belcampo double fast burger is cheaper than ss.

the plus on the ss side is if you want a concrete, beer, hot dogs and a selection of other menu items.

midtown/west hollywood/hollywood help

terrine. recently had a great meal there. there charcuterie platter is excellent. the roasted foie is probably the smallest piece of foie i've ever seen but otherwise, food was on point there.

Shake Shack is coming

visiting LA from SF

to each their own. i think their rice bowls are great. definitely not bland. i actually think there's a good bit of texture with the fried shallots and the greens.

i know you probably won't go back but their rice bowls are the thing to get there. that noodle dish is the worst thing at chego.

Planning -- Chinatown/Little Tokyo and Koreatown

for ktown, i'd center around chapman plaza. you can hit kang ho dong, escala, emc, dan sung sa, normandie bar, all within 2 blocks. the line is another block away. honey me, etc.. list goes on and on in the area.

i mentioned this on an earlier post but hangari may have the best noodles in ktown right now and it's right there as well.

hangari kalgooksu

i actually thought the regular kimchee was great too. a very strong oyster flavor.

the hand made noodles are great but the clam broth put it over the top. they're pretty generous with the amount of clams in that soup too.

if you haven't been in ktown, highly recommended. their chicken kalgooksoo and their claim kalgooksoo are excellent.

i don't think anyone thinks it's the height of a culinary achievement but there seems to be a distinct difference between the egg rolls found in ny and those found in la. just trying to see what that might be.

i'm looking for the classic chinese egg roll that i'm sure is ubiquitous in ny but uncommon in la.

i think of it like any halal cart. pretty common in nyc but until very recently, impossible to find in la.
