Made in the Baltimore Region
Pomepeian makes olive oil and vinegars...I have a small sample size that I got at a city fair that would be perfect for a welcome bag.
Old Bay also comes in small foil packets (like the kind used for taco seasoning).
family lunch in Baltimore
I haven't been there since it changed owners but as they've kept most (if not all) of the staff, I'd suggest Big Matty's. It used to be Rallo's and is a very family friendly diner just off Key Hwy at the corner of Fort and Lawrence.

Looking for fine dining near M & T Bank Stadium
2nd for BlueGrass Tavern. It's walking distance to the stadium and you can stroll through Fed Hill and get the whole pre-game atmosphere. Very good food and service.
I also recommend stopping by Nick's at Cross St. Market on your way for large beers (suprisingly decent selection).

Recommendations for ARundel Mills, or Columbia, Md?
DuClaw at Arundel Mills has revamped their menu and it's pretty good. There's a steak sandwich w/ manchego that I really liked.
The Source
I had an excellent dinner there as part of a work celebration. Very good and I was very glad I wasn't footing the bill.
DC/Inner Harbor Suggestions
If proximity to a waterview is your main goal in Baltimore, I'd recommend Nick's Fish House just off of 95 for moderate-priced seafood on their outdoor deck. Another option is Miguel's in Locust Point for Mexican. Miguel's is near Ft McHenry--in addition to having a great new visitor center, there's also amazing views of the harbor.
Birthday dinner for 7 year old?
I second Carmine's and would also suggest Hill Country BBQ. If she's a chocolate fan, the texas sheet cake would make a fabulous stand-in for birthday cake.
Mount Vernon/Baltimore
I like Iggie's for pizza though coming from NYC it may be tough to compare :)
And, make sure to check out Artscape this weekend. It's an amazing (and free!!) festival that usually features some good food vendors in addition to the artists, crazy cars, and top-notch people watching.
Need seafood (or any) recs for Ocean City, Maryland
Try Bull on the Beach for pub grub & a good raw bar, Tequila Mockingbird for Mexican, and Liquid Assets for more upscale food w/ a great cheese menu.
As for all you can eat crab legs, I've not had anything good enough to recommend recently.
PJ Clarke's???
It's just ok. Ok food and spotty service. I wouldn't go out of my way to check it out but I don't think it's horrible either.
For instance, I had good mussels there one visit but on another, the mac & cheese was kind of greasy and the waiter was pretty unfriendly.
1 Full Day in Baltimore - Recs for 1st Timer?
I third Bluegrass--very good service and great food!
Best DC upscale weekday lunch deal
I like the 4 course lunch at Zaytinya for something like $22/person. Very good way to sample the menu at a reasonable price.

95 corridor
Snyder's in Linthicum is right near the intersection of 95 and the Baltimore Beltway (695). Not a diner but still very much a family restaurant with traditional Maryland food.
In Baltimore tomorrow (5/7/11) - need recs near Camden Yards!
Within walking distance to the ballpark, I'd recommend a stop by Cross St Market. Not a huge market like Lexington, but fun with several good places for lunch. My fav is Nick's at the Charles St end of the market for steamed shrimp, raw oysters, and cheap big beers.
Thinking of going to Porters in Federal Hill
I haven't been to Porters in ages so no thoughts on the newish ownership but wanted to share that I've had several group meals w/ varied ages/dining pickiness at Ryleighs in the upstairs dining room. And, I think all went well and it was not too noisy even on a Saturday night. The steak sandwich is a big hit for my family.
Fair warning, the walk from your car along Cross St may be Meat Head central though...
Crab Cakes near Interstate 95?
about 1 1/2 miles from 95, north of baltimore is box hill pizzeria in abingdon, md. very good crabcakes in a no-frills strip mall location.
MGM Roast Beef and Sullivan's Seafood - NE DC
My experience with MGM was pretty much the same--an exceptionally good sandwich in a great setting. They should open a downtown location...it would have lines out the door.
Best burger in Balto
I like the Black & Bleu made from Black Angus beef at Abbey Burger Bistro. Excellent beer selection there too.

Help...Heading to Washington DC for one day (tomorrow)...need inexpensive meals around Smithsonian.
Another good deli option is West Wing Cafe on 12th St near E. Boar's Head meats and really good salads. They usually have 3 specials with a sandwich (or panini), chips, and can of soda for about $7.50.
It gets packed right at noon so I'd come early or late to avoid the law firm lunch rush.
After the Rally on Saturday
It's super casual but I like Nando's Peri Peri Chicken in Chinatown. Might have some veg options too. You might have to stalk out a larger table but I think it's do-able.
Jaleo might be fun too--I'd set up a reservation which is probably a necessity for virtually anywhere Sat evening.
Dinner near public transport from BWI?
For Federal Hill, I recommend Corks and Matsuri (sushi). By the time you get in on Friday, a lot of Cross St Market will be shut down--if you can stop by during the day on Saturday it's worth it.
Nearby in Locust Point, I'd also recommend The Wine Market and Pazo Luna. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Lunch on the Road from NYC to Baltimore
If you want a crabcake on your way down, I'd recommend Box Hill Pizzeria off of Rt 24 in Abingdon which is about a 10 minute detour from 95. I'ts a pizza shop in a strip mall but the crabcakes are really, really good.
Downtown, I'd agree with your results and get out of the Inner Harbor to find good food. I'm partial to Ryleigh's and Corks in Fed Hill (quick cab ride). I think the best crabcake though is at Faidely's at Lexington Market. Pick up some Berger cookies while you're at the market too.

Crabs in South Baltimore
I'm one of the people who recommend LP Steamers. I've had their crabs quite a few times over the past 2 years and haven't had a bad experience yet. We've eaten in and taken them home too.
dinner recommendations for Columbia-Ellicott City for 4/30?
For Baltimore seafood--LP Steamers on Fort Ave is one of my favorites. It's about 30 minutes up 95 and is easy to get to from the highway.
I also like The Rumor Mill in historic Ellicott City. Not a seafood restaurant but I like their food (Asian-inspired) and they have an extensive array of infused vodkas that are delicious.

May Ball game trip to Camden Yards
At Cross Street Market (right across from Ryleigh's), Nick's serves a good tradtional soft crab sandwich.
Miguels - Baltimore - Silo Point
We just had dinner there for the first time. The portions are generous and I think they're a good value for dinner as well. Very attentive servers and very good Mexican food with a menu that's more inventive than other area restaurant--for instance, the swiss chard side was unexpectedly a favorite (especially since we'd never had chard before!)
It's nice to see something other than a pub in Locust Point (not that I don't love good wings/burgers). I think it will be a big hit too once we thaw out and they can open up outdoor seating.
Ocean City, MD
We frequent the location at 94th St whenever we're in OC. Lots of locals there too.
Another good bar is Smitty McGee's in Fenwick Island.
Cocktail bars in Baltimore?
I'm not sure if it's the same type of vibe but the Gin Mill in Canton has some really good cocktails. I had an excellent Sidecar there and also enjoyed a martini made with lavender.
