Good find [Left Bank Bistro]

I would agree that Left Bank Bistro is a great North Toronto find. I've been on several occasions and found the quality of the food excellent. It's definitely traditional bistro fair...not foo foo shi shi, but a well priced bistro meal with great wine and good service is a good find.
For starters the romaine and beet salads are both great if you're calorie conscious...I tend more towards the the shrimp bonbons (shrimp in delicate pastry tied with leek) or onion soup (magnificent broth, sweet onions and just enough cheese). The steak tartar is also quite good.
For mains, try the duck confit or lamb shank, both perfection. The gnocchi and trout almandine are also both good choices.
Prix fix menu before 7pm includes appetizer and entrée, with desert or a glass of wine for $27.
Deserts are excellent...but we typically go with the wine.
Apparently they're now open for brunch on weekends

Best beef stroganoff in Toronto?

I'd suggest Pravda Vodka Bar (44 Wellington E). While I haven't tried their stroganoff, the ambiance is great, food is typically good...and hey, stroganoff is Russian, not Hungarian!

North Toronto Sunday Brunch...help!

Celstin does a great brunch! Menu varies from traditional brunch items (eggs bennedict) to french classics and some "lunchier" alternatives. I had the hunter pie; a duck pie that was outstanding.
As always, service was great and its very reasonably priced. Brunch for 7 (most ordering 2 courses) with wine was barely over $200. They take reservations for brunch (it was full last Sunday) and they don't rush you as you relax over coffee and conversation.
I'll be back.

3 nights in Beijing

Thanks for the tips. Tried Da Dong last night and really enjoyed it. The food is imaginative, well presented with great flavour combinations. We had the duck (of course), scallops, avocado salmon rolls, green pea spoon, and spinach mustard balls and a great bottle of white burgundy.
We found the lighting harsh and the service rushed, but likely our inability to utter even three words of mandarin was the cause.
Thanks again

North Toronto Sunday Brunch...help!

Thanks, I'll check it out. I also heard today that Celestin on Mount Pleasant has a good brunch.

North Toronto Sunday Brunch...help!

Looking for an adult brunch spot (ideally N of Eg). Have tried many, still searching. Need a mix of the classic brunch fare, healthier options, as well as good luncheon options. Comfort and service matter too. Looking for a place where they welcome the Sunday NY times, and you don't feel rushed.

3 nights in Beijing

Beginning on 11th of November, staying in Chaoyang. Would love to find a couple of the best new restaurants with "nouvelle chinese" chefs, also interested in a few less known casual "can't miss" spots for lunch.
