buying chinese herbs

Hello

does anybody know a place around the North Andover area that i can purchase natural chinese herbs??? I was in Chinatown in Boston today and it was a zoo and couldn't stop. I'm looking for things like Panax Ginseng, Maca, Sarsaparilla, Horny Goat Weed, etc. I'm looking to make an all natural soup for energy. Old chinese friend told me the herbs to get. Any help would be great. I'd like to get it somewhere up here instead of having to go back to Boston, but i'll take Boston recommendations as well. I was at Ming's on Washington St today and they told me somewhere on Harrison Ave to go to but like i said, Chinatown was a zoo this afternoon

thanks

Just Moved To Andover Ma

i just moved to North Andover last May from Revere and i have a suggestion for you....fill your tank and drive to Santarpio's in East Boston or Bianchi's in Revere....there is no comparison up there for the type of food there is on the North Shore....whether it's the pizza, seafood, chinese, roast beef (although Harrison's is good in N Andover) the best food around is on the North Shore

Cedar Crest Restaurant from Lawrence has reopened in N. Andover.

i don't even think it's real veal.......sorry

Cedar Crest Restaurant from Lawrence has reopened in N. Andover.

TERRIBLE.....TERRIBLE.....TERRIBLE

i won't be going back there and i live 3 minutes from the place....yankee pot roast was a frozen hungry man dinner as far as i'm concerned...my girlfriends veal cutlets were like mystery meat....place is a joke...way too bright....way outdated decor...terrible staff...waitress stood and waited while i filled out the tip on the credit card receipt...uncomfortable...no liquor license so you couldn't wash down the bad meal with some wine...cheap prices but food is disgusting!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

Cedar Crest in North Andover

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!!!

It was one of the worst meals i've ever eaten. No Joke!!!!

When you walk in you get a hint of dirty babies diaper smell. It is incredibly bright in there. The decor is from the 70's. It is completely unorganized. They were advertising a cigar and dinner night at the Lawrence Sons of Italy on the front door. Prime Rib and cigars for $45. Who advertises someone else's dinner night at their restaurant. Especially when the prime rib looked like the only thing edible on the menu.

I got the Yankee Pot Roast for whatever reason, i'm not sure. It was litterally a Hungry Man's frozen dinner, with FAKE mashed potatoes, carrots and some disgusting brown gravy on it.

My girlfriend got the ravioli with mystery meat cutlets. They said they were veal but it tasted closer to pork if anything.

This place has an incredible open flamed oven that they used to cook in and it would make a great kitchen but they don't even use that kitchen. They use that as a service area. big waste of space.

I doubt this place will still be in business by Memorial Day weekend. Too bad because it's in a nice spot. I better get my business plan and investors ready to pounce!!!!

Santarpio's in Peabody??

i like the idea but the few problems i have with this is: 1) they will not be able to duplicate the pizza that comes out of that 100 yr old oven...2) where are they going to find waiters/waitresses as rude as in East Boston!!!...3) can't replicate the ambiance of the East Boston locations...unless that is why they are waiting so long to open in the Bennigans location...they are letting it get run down!!!

Best Steak in Boston?

Try Flemings in Park Square...It's a little cheaper than the typical Capital Grille, Morton's places and the atmosphere is exactly the same....the steaks are phenominal...If you're on the North Shore, the Hardcover is a good choice as well...great steaks there...salad bar comes with the meal...awesome onion soup and nice cozy atmosphere...they have a fireplace in the lounge area

High Street Grille North Andover

if i do go back there, i will have the bbq....looked like a lot of people were ordering the ribs

High Street Grille North Andover

I saw a clip about this place on tv diner or phantom gourmet and decided to try it out. WILL NOT EVER SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!! It looked great on tv. Extremely loud in there for starters. I went by the waitress' recomendation and got a flank steak entree. BIG THUMBS DOWN!!!! It was like eating a piece of shoe leather, and i know that flank steak isn't the best cut of beef but this was horrible. Came with the grossest cole slaw i've ever tasted and fries that tasted like they were cooked that afternoon and sat under a heating lamp all day. My girlfriend got the scallop entree which probably would have been good IF THE SCALLOPS WERE COOKED!!!! They were completely cold in the middle. Usually pan seared scallops have a little color or carmelization to them. NOT THESE SCALLOPS. And they smelt like Revere Beach during low tide. As we were trying to choke down this horrendous meal, the manager was at the table next to us taking 2 of the 4 entrees that the group had ordered off of the bill because they were sent back unsatisfactory. I choked down my steak but my girlfriend had to send back the scallops and, once again, the very busy manager came over to our table to tell us the kitchen was going to cook up another order of scallops. We graciously declined because my girlfriend was nasseaus at this point. We weren't looking for anything in return, just wanted our bill but they insisted on giving us a free dessert and taking the entree off of the bill. The waitress was actually really nice and apologetic for the kitchen's horrible food. This place must be very well trained on how to handle a customers complaint about the food!!! And to top it off, as we were leaving, we got the dirtiest look from the cooks in the kitchen like it was our fault that their food sucked!!! I can't say anything good about this place but if it was just a bad night in the kitchen, please let me know and i'll give this place another chance.

Companions in Revere

Has anybody been to Companions in Revere lately??? when they opened about a year ago, they tried to make it into something it is not, an overpriced martini bar/restaurant with inflated entree prices. It closed for a couple of weeks and now there is a sign out front that says "new affordable menu." So they must agree that their prices were a little over the top. But i was wondering if anyone has tried their new menu because i was in there before it changed and the food was horrible. It's too bad because it's such a nice place inside.

Any reviews or comments will be appreciated

Best Burger in town for a NY Hound

take a cab to O'Sullivan's in Somerville. By far the best burger around. Your jaw will be sore the next day from biting into it. There's about 20 different kinds of burgers to order from and the fries are humungous too. Plan on waiting about 30 minutes for your burger to cook because they are so big

enjoy

Ft. Lauderdale inexpensive cocktails or happy hour

O'Malleys on Hollywood Beach always has happy hours...best bar on Hollywood beach by far!!! A lot of Bostonians go and work there

Does anyone have any information about Companions in Revere??? It has been closed for a long time and they were gutting it out for about a year. It looks complete and wasn't sure if anyone knew when or if it was opening back up

Your best cabbage recipes?

ok this is a Polish recipe I got from my grandfather that has been in our family for a long time....

*take some salt pork (pork fat back), dice it up and sautee it in a pan to render the fat.
*take a couple of links of smoke polish kielbasa, slice it up and put that in the pot to brown that.
*once that is browned, take a couple of heads of shredded cabbage and add that to the pot. it will look like a lot of cabbage but it cooks down.
*add saukraut
*add some sliced onion
*add a can of kitchen ready whole peeled tomatoes
*add a can of campbells tomato soup
*add a bay leaf
*add a splash of frank's red hot (if you want a little bite to it)
*add some seasoning (salt, pepper, basil...whatever)

let it all cook down slow and low for a couple of hours to let the flavors all come together. It is awesome!!! you can also add mushrooms, i don't because i don't like them but a lot of my cousins add the mushrooms to it

enjoy!!!

Dinner at Twin River Casino
