Engagement Party Ideas in NYC

One of my good friends had their engagement party here. It was a great space, and the passed appetizers were very good, but I have no idea as to the cost.

Ideal order for 2 at Scarpetta?

This is the exact meal I shared about a week ago, and it was fabulous. I was sorry to have had to leave off the short ribs, but really enjoyed the duck and fois gras ravioli.

Suggestions for a dinner for 14, some gluten-free options

Otto has pre-fixe options for groups. they have gluten-free pasta which is a nice option for those who cannot usually partake. they also offer really nice unlimted beverage options.

reheating tenderloin

Hi - I made a 3 (rare-medium-rare) chateaubriand's last night for a dinner party. There is one left over. How would you recommend reheating while preserving the "rare" state.

Thanks

what's the name of the French restaurant...

Le Veau D'or

Veggie Tasting/Amazing Wine

gramercy tavern, cafe boulud and devi have vegetarian tasting menu and would suffice your criteria. Although gramecy tavern has a eggie focused, you must call in advance to make it explicitly vegetarian.

ISO Real Caesar Salad

sorry, i didn't realize it was so early

French Bistro for a Bday Dinner

I cannot personally vouch since I have not yet been there, but i have heard very good things about la sirene (there was a good times review, and the reviews on this board have been promising). It is also BYOB, so you could bring with you a really special bottle of wine to toast the occaision.

Restaurant with good salads???

there isn't one in chelsea, the other is on 54th and 3rd, in the citicorp center, underneath barnes and noble... they also have great loaded baked potatoes incase you are in need of a starch substitute for the bread.

Upcoming Birthday Dinner (Corton, Daniel) - Please weigh in

Thanks and i'll be sure to report back :)

Upcoming Birthday Dinner (Corton, Daniel) - Please weigh in

Thank you very much for the additional suggestions. I had forgotten about Adour, and I had been meaning to eat at one of Gordon Ramsey resturants in London, as I was just recently there, but never had the opportunity to, so that gives me a couple of more to consider.

Upcoming Birthday Dinner (Corton, Daniel) - Please weigh in

Thank RGR for your always helpful input. I believe I was there prior to Pugin, so that is a definite possibility since the location is also quite convenient. I have been to Jean Georges for lunch several times, and Nougatine for dinner - would it be that different to go for dinner? I have heard the mixed reviews of Daniel, which is why I have been hesitant to choose it in the past and appreciate you confirming my suspicion. I also should mention I have been to Gramercy Tavern as well.

Upcoming Birthday Dinner (Corton, Daniel) - Please weigh in

ok, my birthday is approching (May 13) and every year my aunt and uncle take me out for a really nice dinner....I have already been to a bunch of the top places: Le Bernadin, Cru, Blue Hill (although I would love Blue hill stone barns - I am not sure that is a viable option), Eleven Madsion Park, Aureole, Bouley, L'Atelier de Joel Rubichon, Veritas, Picholine) and always like the bday event to be a new place... I think Per Se and Masa may be over the top, although I would like to have a dish or two from the Salon menu Per Se at somepoint. Any thoughts on Corton or Daniel. Other reccomendations would also be appreciated.

Jean Georges last min. lunch

if you go on the early or late side, you often can get a table at the last minute

Recs for dinner 10 girls 16years old for b-day

technically they dined at Buddakhan in the movie

you could try buddakhan, and see if you can get the long table downstairs under the chandelier.

Upscale restaurants in Pittsburgh?

http://www.wqed.org/mag/features/0608/best_restaurants.php

Above list the top 25 restuarants in the 'burg with descriptions. It's pretty accurate. Some of my fav's that I have been to:
Bona tera, Iovino's cafe, casbah and eleven (both big burrito group), mio kitchen and wine bar.

for a great lunch i would reccomend dining at the cafe at the frick... it's really picturesque, and the food is locally sourced and top notch

for brunch, i really like point brugge cafe

Where can I buy the new Fage 5% yogurt?

Surprisingly, I saw it at the Gristedes on 9th (b/ween 23rd and 24th) the other day

Best olive oil to buy in Manhattan?

I don't know whether or not it would be a better option than Fairway or Despana but Buon Italia in Chelsea Market has a variety of levels of Olive oil.

Eating at the bar

it's not in soho, but you may want to consider terrior, if you are heading to alphabet city anyways

L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon -- any favorite dishes?

these were my favorites as well... i don't think you can go wrong there with anything with foie gras in it. the quail stuffed with fois gras was also wonderful

Butternut Squash dishes

I had a great butternut squash fonduta topped with pumpkin seeds at Po - it was sooo good. the plate also had a chili oil drizze which added just the right touch of heat to cut through hte richness of the dish.

Fine dining in Pittsburgh next weekend?

As a current nyc hound that grew up in pgh, i often come back for special occaison dinner with the family. I have been to Lydia's and it is very hit or miss and not overall in the same league as Felidia. Eleven's tasting menu is excellent as is Casbah's. Mio Kitchen and Wine Bar is very good, and one of my sister's favorites (the chef was formerly at Veritas in NYC) and bona terra and legume( two of my new favorites), as they personify greenmarket type cuisine and are BYOB, always a nice plus espeically when you want a really nice bottle for a celebratory dinner.)

Morton's $99 for two. Review?

Yes, I've done it. They usually offer it during the summer month's. I find it to be a good deal, and although Morton's is not my favorite steak in Manhattan, it is still an excellent quality filet and it comes with the equivalent portion of a seafood appetizer alond with full size sides and dessert. I believe I found the cost to be equal to the filet alone + the salad, so you get the rest for "free". If you tend to like the full meal experience rather than just the focus to be on the meat - it's a good deal.

I think the steakhouses are just suffering right now, I was @ wolfgang's last night and it was 2/3 empty.

Recs for steak house like Del Frisco's, but less expensive

FYI - not sure if you know but Del Friso's offers a 3 course prefix (you have to request to see the menu) for $39.95 between 5 and 6pm or all day on Sunday. It is a really great deal as it includes a salad, choice of 8oz filet mignon or salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli and dessert.

Weekly restaurant specials (i.e. half-priced bottles of wine)

Is this every day, or only on a particular day?
