Good Steak/Seafood in Financial/Union Sq?
Thanks for the tip. I like the red booths, definitely old school. I'll keep it in mind if we end up skipping Tadich.
Good Steak/Seafood in Financial/Union Sq?
There's 8 of us. Oh, I would've LOVED taking them to Tadich (didn't know it was the oldest SF restaurant) but I wonder if that's too big a group. Especially since they don't take reservations AND it'll be a Friday night.
I guess I can always make reservations at Perbacco, then see how busy Tadich is next door and decide. :-)
Cheers!
Good Steak/Seafood in Financial/Union Sq?
I've got a group of co-workers coming to SF next month and it's my responsibility to take them out one night. Some are from Asia and Europe...others from Southern California and Texas. They're not necessarily foodies so I'm not looking for a place like Myth or Ame but price is not a big deal since it'll be expensed. :-) I'm thinking Italian or California/Continental (steak/seafood) type to be safe. In the past when I've gone out with them in other cities, they lean towards steak or seafood. So, can someone suggest a place in SF (preferably in Financial/Union Square area) that serves pretty decent steak/seafood dishes, as well as having a good ambiance so that they feel like they're in SF? If that makes sense. :-) Otherwise, Italian is also something that is a safe bet with them.
Thanks!
Good eats in St. Pete/Key West?
Cool...I'll have to check out the downtown area.
Thanks!

Hmmm...Pepperidge Farms? I like the Cuban bread suggestion, especially since I've never had Cuban bread before. Sounds interesting.
I forgot to ask...what about pies? Is there a good bakery in St. Pete? Preference is Pumpkin (of course) or Pecan...but I'd be happy with good Cherry or Peach, too.
Cheers!

Hey, thanks guys and gals! You guys are awesome!! I will most definitely check out Ted Peters as I've seen it mentioned numerous times. And I'll run the other places by my friends.
And thanks for the bread recommendation, too. Not sure what cuban bread tastes like but that would be a nice twist for a Thanksgiving dinner in Florida. :-)
Cheers,

Good eats in St. Pete/Key West?
I'm going to be in St. Pete and Key West over the Thanksgiving holidays. I've read past posts for both cities on restaurant recommendations. For Key West, I've let my friends know that we need to check out BO Fish Wagon, the Afterdeck (for drinks), Half Shell oyster Bar, Blue Heaven (for breakfast) and possibly some other spots. But for St. Pete, I'm still trying to figure it out.
I really want to check out the Cuban cuisine. Though it's not Miami, I figure there will be plenty of Cuban food to go around. Any recs? And non-Cuban cuisine? Any fun, hip spots in St. Pete to check out?
Also, is there a place to buy good "artisanal" bread in St. Pete? I'm from San Francisco where we have the best bread around, so I'm kind of picky about it...and I'm not talking about sourdough either. :-) I'm making stuffing for Thanksgiving so I want to find some good bread.
Thanks in advance!!!
Good Eats and Fun in Santa Barbara?
Well, we're in our 30's and 40's so Lucky's isn't that out of our age range, except for the 70 year olds. :-) Definitely not looking for a place full of 20 somethings trying to be hip. And price is NOT an issue as long as the food is good.
How is Tupelo Junction Cafe(?) for breakfast?
Good Eats and Fun in Santa Barbara?
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I looked at Sevilla and it definitely has a nice hipster feel based on the pics I saw. But I have to admit that the reviews I read for it at www.santabarbara.com didn't seem too great. I then checked out Lucky's and I liked what I read, even with the slams against them. So, I'm going to check them out. I have to admit I was partial to them once I read it was the same owner as Lucky Jeans, which is my favorite jeans maker. :-)
Cheers!
Good Eats and Fun in Santa Barbara?
Hi,
Three girlfriends and myself are going to be in SB for a weekend. We want to find a restaurant that serves good food as well as have a fun ambiance, not too stuffy or formal. I've read past posts here on the nice restaurants in SB, eg, Downeys, Stella Mare's, Sage and Onion, Bouchon, etc. But they sound maybe too "formal" for what we're looking for and I don't mean pricey. We're all single so I think we want something more along the lines of a place that is THE place to be with a little bit of scene, but with good food. :-)
Cheers!
