Vegetables so robust you need a steak-knife "By that definition, then, mushrooms are not vegetables. [shrug]" "A plant used or cultivated for food for man or domestic animals," ::shrug:: |

for pork sausage and lamb, i use maple and apple to give a tame, somewhat sweets-reminiscent smoke. can't say it's my favorite, since i have yet to try hickory or oak. one day i'll work my way down the list of non-poisonous woods. |

Vegetables so robust you need a steak-knife kingdom: vegetable, per science:) |

Vegetables so robust you need a steak-knife "I think it's debatable whether mushrooms are vegetables or not. There certainly is no 'scientific' definition of 'vegetable'. " |

"The main flavors are soy sauce, dashi, salt, sugar, mirin, miso, and a little ginger. _________________________ Come again? Those aren't flavors, necessarily, but ingredients. " funny, i can't recall the last time i had a flavorless version of any of those things, besides sugar and salt... |

Cholesterol anyone...Turtle Burgers (sort of) i think pepperoni would take away from the smokiness of the bacon. it'd be good to do just pepperoni, or just bacon, but the two together would kill the awesomeness of both. skaboy, you might want to also try some pork and veal, along with milk-soaked bread in the beef to keep it tender, just like meatloaf. perhaps some kind of acid at the end to cut through the fat and brighten it up? let us know how it turns out. |

Cholesterol anyone...Turtle Burgers (sort of) no herbs? is it just store-bought ground beef, and not home-ground sirloin/short rib? no sauteed onions and veggies in the beef? this could be a great idea, but it needs a makeover. |

Looking for a Long Lost recipe from Guy Fieri no idea, but use this as a base and replace the shrimp with chicken, and it should come close |

Packaged Cookie from the '70s/'80s Not it, but perhaps Royal Dansk butter cookies could come close? The circular piped ones sound on point. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2557/4... |

i find it pretty similar to wendy's. good, but nothing mindblowing like a burger cooked over coals. |

Frozen Mexican food at Trader Joe's lavaca, are you trying to cook both burritos in the packaging at the same time? If so, heat both with the plastic completely off for 2:30 on high. Chop each burrito in half, then turn them inside out so the cold middle is now facing the outside, then give it another 2:30 to 3:00 on high. It's worth the effort. |

that looks amazing. |

better than burrito-sized infants, i'd venture |

What to do with Mako shark bloodline and guts? my uncle makes a stew with the intestines of shark--not mako though, shrimp paste, galanga, lemongrass, and coconut milk. i'm not sure if there would be a difference in flavor. i find the idea repulsive, but you do what you gotta do. |

Burger King Tendergrill sandwich review Just got done with this, and here are some impressions: The "ciabbata (sp?) bread" tastes like sweet raw bread dough. I ate half the sandwich, then threw the rest of the bun away. The texture was very squishy and dense. Frightening. The chicken has a good flavor from the grilling--like something you'd make on a gas grill yourself. The chicken was tender as the name implies, but nothing amazing. A bit salty, but not overly so. Paltry amount of lettuce and tomato, with the mayo dripping off like liquid. Not really worth buying again IMO. |

Taco Bell Chili Cheese Burrito in NOVA/DC/Bmore area? Apparently the chili cheese locator website is down (http://www.chilicheese.org/). Could someone point me to a TB that has the chilito before I attempt to make my own? |

weird, the chicken (in 2 and 3 piece meals) in my area taste the same as in 1999. never tried the sandwiches though--maybe they changed the recipe on those. wendy's has a decent spicy chicken sandwich--check it out. |

Chestertown, MD recommendations for dinner/drinks? I will be visiting some friends in Chestertown, MD in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for dining and drinks--preferably sushi, but anything you feel is worth looking at will do. I know it's a vague request, so throw out whatever ideas you have:) |
