Fresh Market - Scarsdale

I was there a few days ago for a walk around. I was told that they only sell thei hotr rotisserie chicken for 4 hours. After that, it is given to the deli to make salad.

Tango Grill

Lastest update: Drove by Tango Grill White Plains this morning and saw that it had new signage:
"SEIZED"!
Did not have the time to stop and look at smaller document on door but MVHO/guess is that the USMS/IRS had something to do with it.

Gem: Cuisines of China Yonkers, NY

In Re.: Gem: Cuisines of China

Saw this restaurant within a sub-thread here http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/748358 and an older thread that became a bit opened and thought that it should have it own topic.

I drove by it the other day and did not have the time to stop by. So after seeing the comments, I made the effort to stop by today.

Location: 1838 Central Park Avenue is just about across the street from Highridge Shopping Center-914-361-15

And yes Paul is there. We had a very nice conversation. My parents took my sisters and I to The Pagoda of Eastchester just about once a month when we were young. So we had nice talk about his travels and business over the past several years.

Place looks very nice-almost upscale in some ways. Still working on menu items so right now there are 12 appetizers, 3 soups, 6 beef/pork, 7 poultry, 6 seafood, 5 vegetables/tofu, and 6 fried rice/noodles dishes. And still working on back-end operation. Which is normal for any restaurant to go thru the first few months. So first experiences may not be the very best and one can not judge owns experience and taste from others.

I did not go there to eat but what little I saw looked good. Apps range from $3-$14, soups $3-$6, mains $12-22.

We all have our own POV's and taste so I will not try to guess yours. I will say that it should be well worth the trip just to go down and see the place for yourself. Check out the menu and perhaps have a nice talk with Paul.

And while from the "other" board, this shows how different 5 POV's can be: http://www.yelp.com/biz/gem---cuisines-of-china-yonkers#hrid:lpO80vRyv6iK5TwWfd53N

I was taught at a young age, by my parents, that one should never go on the POV of just one person. And that your own POV is very important.

I do plan on going very soon to check food out for myself. And will bring a few others along to see what they think.

Help! all our Chinese takeouts are closing!

Dav id King in Eastchester on Mill Road is the second location of restaurant of same name in White Plains.

Wild Atlantic Salmon at Hudson House River Inn?

Having re-read the OP's,RickiG, comment I still have to wonder if the "mis"-communication was over location alone.
As I was not there, I can only go by what I know and what I can read in post. The waitress said, twice, that it was wild.
So was Atlantic replaced for Alaskan?
And from my experience, while stores may not always know, most Chefs do know where items come from/availible from.

And the Sockeye I had was just perfect.

Wild Atlantic Salmon at Hudson House River Inn?

Per http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/fishwatch/species/atl_salmon.htm
There is just about zero, if not zero %, to have an Fresh Atlantic Samon. Or at least the amount needed to supply a restaurant.
Many others, just not Atlantic.
The site above is one of three handy to have around to answer questions about fish.

My hunch is that someone may have really meant to say Pacific/Alaskian as that is now on the market here.
Sockeye comes to mind-I just bought some for dinner Sunday.

Girls' night out--Dinner in White Plains, preferably around City Center

Down side for Melting Pot is that a Girls Night out there can last 3 hours.
One could go around the corner (twice I quess) and go to back to the 50's in Bryooklyn Sandwish and Pasta.

Tango Grill

OK-I was not all to sure just what your 1st posting was leading too. Clear now.
;>D

Tango Grill

Hold on kaaaassss:
Please, please, please read, in full, both of my postings from tonight.
Notices DID have today as closing date with re-opening on18th. However one week is real short time to do the kind of work I saw being done. Can it be done? Yes. But that is if everything works out 100%
And that that does cost money. And given what the LoHud story had in it, I do wonder where it came from. Perhaps the owner?

Tango Grill

Seems as if JN did run a story about this a few days after I posted above.
Does have some more details on situation: Both about restaurant and White Plains.
Tango Grill in White Plains seeks bankruptcy protection

Tango Grill

While driving by last this after noon, saw that it was rather dark inside, and no one seemed to be there.
And than I saw some notices up in windows.

So, on way back, I stopped and took a look.

Tango Grill is closed until the 18th(?) for renovations. And this seems to be more than just a touch up for when I took a look in to back/kitchen door I saw no kitchen equipment inside. Kitchen is torn up and gone.
So it seems that what owner said in article is being done.
So now only time will tell.

Full Moon. New Asian/Thai Restaurant-WP (Ex-2nd DR of Tango Grill)

While checking out what was going on at Tango Grill, took a look see thu the windows here.
Judgine only from what I could see:
Just about ready to open.
And it seems to be rather up-scale/higher class level than I first thought it would be

Will have to keep an eye on it and catch someone inside.

Live Lobsters in Westchester

Are you talking abut the place just about under the I-287 over pass?
They do sell wholesale and retail.

For BBQ Fans and Lovers-NY/CT Cook-Offs

Thought I would give this a "bump" as Hudson Valley Ribfest New Paltz, NY is this weekend and others are following up.

The pizza stinks around here!

Jade Garden Hartsdale, any info?

Updated status:
While driving by, we saw a new Red letter posted in both doors.

It was a Stop Work Order from Town of Greenburg Building Deptl
Seems as if they were, in truth, doing renovation work to location-as per prior letter/note posted on doors.

And looking inside, I saw some demo work had been done.
Just seems as if not all the I's and T's had been crossed-something that happans more than you would think that is should.

My posting seems to have left the building Hummm.
Place has been open for several weeks now.
Mid-level Southern Italian.
Mod prices.

Big Fire at Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant Briarcliff Manor

Good News-Perhaps.
Seems as if the folks over in LoHud's Small Bits found out that Resaurant, after 7 months, has re-opened as of early this week:

New Sandwich joint in White Plains, MELT, anyone try?

Inside: Rather limited. Perhaps 4-5 tables IIRC.
Outside-IF weather is good-more.

New Sandwich joint in White Plains, MELT, anyone try?

Thank you Sharon for you kind words.
And enjoy ME-keep an eye out for a very good, home made pie place on the left side of road-a rather small house with great pies.

New Sandwich joint in White Plains, MELT, anyone try?

Please take the time to re-read/review my OP. I said nothing bad about their food quality at all. In fact I thought lunch was good.
I just pointed out my observations of the operations of the location.
And, truth be told, judging from other CH's posting in other threads, you may be the rare person without any problem waiting for what does amount to be fast food. Higher quality perhaps, but still a fast food sandwich.
The space works if there are very few people there. Any kind of rush/crowd, food prep and handling becomes very ineff.

Crabtree's Kittle House in Chappaqua

I know that this is an older thread but it seems to fit the following update as it is about Kittle House and it was the last one updated:

Seems to be, at the very least, a reach to say that this restaurant is part of The Slow Foods movement:

Yes, they do get eggs from local farms but the rest.....
