After years of loyalty to Glatt Mart, we are ready to try a new butcher shop. (not seasons, park east, or KMP). We are looking for quality meats, good prices, kosher grocery items, tasty prepared food, and delivery to manhattan. Any suggestions? |

Anyone baking schlissel challah? I made it last night. We have a disagreement on minhaggim in our family, over if we should do key shape or key in the challah. I did both. Made a key shape and also put a key in. I boiled water and disinfected the key and then wrapped into tinfoil. Shabbat shalom! |

Anyone tried Ladino Tapas Grill Yet? I'm gonna have to agree. We went last night and the service was so horrible but the food was pretty good. Sadly we were so offended that we will wait a long time before giving them a second try, if we even consider going back. Our tapas never showed up and our main course was brought out and we asked for the appetizers and what happened so then they took away the mains. Then they made us wait for the tapas and told us they didn't have some of the items we wanted. Finally after the bill came we had to wait an insane amount of time to just pay them! We got the cash together and just walked over to the manager to pay (didn't want to leave $120 on the table) and he was offensive and rude. BTW they said their computer system wasn't working so they included a mandatory 18% gratuity. |

Did anyone say HOME for Pesach this year? Highlights of your meals? We stayed home for the first time in 5 years (new baby!) and the best thing we did was buy a new crock pot. We made matzah ball soup and then constantly had something going in the crock for each meal. Meatballs, ribs, duck sauce chicken, and brisket in wine sauce. For friday night we would transfer whatever we cooked before shabbos to a metal tin and then put up whstever we needed for shabbos lunch. It was delicious and easy! We bought some kugels and stuffed cabbage at Costco to supplement. We loved the apple matzah kugel in particular. |

I liked the Clint Eastwood very much. DH got something with sweet onions, pineapple and beef fry that was delicious. My kids got the regular hot dogs. We were all pleased. Went there twice! |

House of dog is pretty good. I had the Clint Eastwood and it was like a Mexican chili dog. Really great. It took over a spot where there wasn't a kosher place before. right on 41st street. It's right near where the chocolate shop is, sort of set back s little from the street. It's a small space with not a ton of seating but it's very cute. They have a pretty good selection of beer but unfortunately nothing on tap. |

Do mini bottles of wine exist? I'm pretty sure that the wine store on the corner of 96th and Columbus has little kosher wine bottles. |

Does anyone know of any UWS restaurants that will be open for the sedarim? We need to stay in the neighborhood and don't feel like ordering take out. Thanks. |

Do they feed Jews in Ft. in Myers? Chabad of Naples does meals. Www.chabadnaples.com I think it's a 45 mins drive from there |

Can you actually cook a potato kugel from scratch in a crockpot? My DH refilled the crock with water and some dish soap and plugged in on high for a few hours before we washed it. GL! I am thinking that next time I may remove the lid for an hour or two before serving? |

Be careful. In my recent experience a lot of the supervision of the Wilton products has changed from OV (st Louis vad) to the USA K map of USA with a K inside (eg. Icings). We normally do not eat this hashgacha but have discussed with Rabbi and also called the CRC and have been told that in the case of Wilton products this hashgacha is alright. |

Thanks everyone. I actually went to Zabars. They ship directly from the store so I can select the cheese I want and they will ship overnight on ice anywhere in the country. Expensive but probably the best choice for me |

We want to send a fabulous cheese gift platter to a friend in the South. It has to be kosher to a very high standard. Can be cholov stam but should not contain any cheese with tablet K or crown K or any other non mainstream certification. Advice please! |

Hi Hounders- |

Potato Kugel in the crockpot - by itself - for Shabbos lunch instructions needed (1 more time) Mine was also mushy in the middle. I'm on a mission to perfect my technique though because my husband and sons loved it. Let's all keep at it and post back again in the future! |

Gribines? |

"yad soledet bo" is usually 120 F I think. So yes, would have to be either meat or dairy and would need to be kashered. BUT I am absolutely not a Rabbi! So ask someone else if you are planning on re doing your kitchen. |

Last week Noi Due told me they did not do this. Will ask again. And will check out U cafe. I like that place a lot... |

Can you actually cook a potato kugel from scratch in a crockpot? The orig recipe makes 2 kugels. One for Friday night and one for shabbos day. I made half and just cooked in my 4 quart oval. 12 yukon gold potatoes Preheat oven to 400. Pour half the oil into your kugel pan. Place in oven to warm. Pour the rest of the oil into the crock pot. Turn on high. My comments: so I did half the recipe and just did a crock pot kugel. I put it up at about 1:45pm and cooked on low. My husband told me that if I was worried on shabbos morning I could just take it off the fire, but i didnt and in the end it was perfect (but a little too oily which my husband and sons loved!) on low and we had lunch at about 12:15. Enjoy!! |

Is there anywhere in manhattan where I can get kosher soup in a bread bowl? |

Can you actually cook a potato kugel from scratch in a crockpot? Two weeks ago Binah Magazine had a recipe for crock pot potato kugel. I made it and it was delicious and amazing. If you want the recipe, I'll be happy to post it. It has a thick bottom and crispy edges. Was a little on the oily side but really pretty great. Will be doing it again soon. |

I have found the hotel meals to be only so-so. We had wonderful experiences with Naomi's catering www.naomicatering.com and think its absolutely delicious. Also I would search on ELuna.com to see if you can do pre paid reservations at any of the restaurants. Have a wonderful trip! |

DH has a client downtown and needs to go out for lunch. He wants to know if you guys think Sushein is nice enough for a work lunch? He wants a step up from Milk street. Thanks! |

Meeting a friend near grand central. Seeking recommendations for cheap milchigs. Thanks! Have not been to midtown east in a long time... |

I am looking for a delicious and somewhat fluffy batter recipe that is pareve that I can use to make corn dogs for my extremely Southern husband. We have a deep fryer and are quite proficient in using it for many other fleishigs delicacies and its time we tried some corn dogs. Thanks in advance for your recipes! |
