Best Authentic Mexican
I'd have to say two of my favorite spots are, La Torta Gorda on 24th St. near Bryant which makes authentic freshly made quesadillas, huaraches etc. using all the ingredients that you find in Mexico but not so often in Bay Area restaurants. I'm refering to fresh huitlacoche, epazote, squash flowers.....I can't say enough good about this place.
I also really like the tacos at Metate on Bryant and 24th Sts. which has extrodinaryly good carnitas, salsas and a great atmosphere.

We are a group of about 100 medical personnel, looking for a space for our holiday party in San Francisco, where we can access a bar, have finger foods served, and maybe dance to a DJ..not too expensive, not too shabby...any suggestions?
irish whole meal flour
Hi Adam, well Irish whole meal flour is a mixture of super coarse to very finely ground wheat flour, as far as I know. There could even be a small amount of ground oats in the mix. It's used to make the not-sweet Irish soda bread that everyone in Ireland is familar with.
Regular whole wheat flour mixed with white flour just dosen't create the same bread.
irish whole meal flour
yeh unfortunately they didn't have any of the stuff I needed for soda bread.
another friend told me to check out the Roxie Market on 9th and Kirkham.

irish whole meal flour
does anyone know where I can buy (in SF) real irish whole meal flour to make authentic tasting soda bread? I went by the place I last bought it in West Portal but the store was closed.
pizza stone?
Thanks for all the advice. By saying I didn't do anything weird with the stone I meant I just left it in the oven 27/7, as I've done in the past. I bought these last two stones at Bed and Bath and can't recall the brand name but this time I'll try the Pampered Chef brand.
thanks

pizza stone?
Does anyone have any advice on pizza stones. My stones have all cracked after a few months of normal use. My oven heats to 550 degrees, I don't wash the stones or do anything weird to them. I'm wondering about trying out a slab of slate or some other material, any ideas----this is getting expensive.
thanks

downtown/ SF new taco place
I'm read a review a few months ago in the Bay Guardian or SF Weekly about a newish tacqeria that the reviewer couldn't say enough great things about---but, I forgot to write down the name and somehow thought it was just behind the new Bloomingdale's complex needless to say we walked and walked without finding it. Does anyone know what place I'm referring to?
