What are Seattle's best ?
Help! I'm a Bostonian headed for Seattle for the first time in early April. Staying downtown for a convention so am looking for restaurants no more than a reasonable cab ride away. We'll be there 3 nights and would like to go to 3 upscale/ fine dining restaurants. Order of preference is New American, Pacific Northwest/Seafood, Italian. (Old, stuffy hotel restaurants are not high on our list).Tasting menus are fine but not a necessity. Abou $150/person would be the upper limit for food, wine and a drink. An example of what I consider a superb restaurant is Gary Danko in SF. So, what do you recommend ? Are Canlis, or Barolo, or Ray's Boathouse on the list?
What/How to Order at Clio
So Blumie and MC Slim, if I find a 3 course meal at, say, Sorellina to be just about right, am I going to be hungry afte one at Clio?
What/How to Order at Clio
I can't disagree. However, I have never taken home a doggie bag or, for that matter, left any food in my plate. On the other hand, I have had the overwhelming desire to stop for a burger on the way home, especially after some "nouvelle cuisine" meals (? early 80's).
What/How to Order at Clio
Going to Clio in a few days. Is the tasting menu the only way to go? Any substitutions allowed if a particular course sounds unappealing? And most important...will there be enough food if we order only an app, entree, and dessert
each? Anyone been this Spring and have particular apps or entrees to recommend?
Thanks.
Nantucket-High End
Thanks everybody. Sounds like we should skip Summer House. What about Oran Mor vs. Straight Wharf and Topper's if you could pick only 2 ?
Flying in the face of "Chow Wisdom"
Thanks for the validation...but get ready. The Legal haters should be getting ready to pounce any minute!
Flying in the face of "Chow Wisdom"
Although I depend heavily on Chowhound and have acquired a number of favorites from the advice given (Prezza, No 9 Park ,to name a couple), I still am a defender of Legal's. A half-dozen oysters, a cold draft, an entree of wood grilled scallops and any 1 of several good desserts make a reasonably priced and totally satisfying meal.
Opening Day Lunch ?
I'll be walking from Back Bay Station to Fenway next Monday. What are some good places for an early lunch (11:30) that we (myself and a 14 year old) will be passing on the way (long before Kenmore Sq) ?
Nantucket-High End
It's early, but I find the winter and so called "Spring" more bearable if I daydream about our Nantucket vacation this summer. What are people's thoughts on The Summer House, Straight Wharf, and Topper's (Have been to The Pearl ). Is there any place better than these? If we could only go to 2 of the 3...which ones?
Cape Cod
We've stayed in Wellfleet for a week each summer for the last 10 years. Although we find lots of places to eat well between there and P-Town, we always take the 30-40 min. drive to the Wequassett Inn in Harwhich to eat at 28 Atlantic for 1 special meal: great food, service, ambience, and view!

Skipjacks Foxboro Brunch
Anyone try the Sunday Brunch at the Skipjacks at Patriot Place yet? I thought it might be fun to eat to the music of the Winiker band, but I'd like to know about the food.
Suggestions for Capital Grille
We're taking our teenage son to Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill for his birthday. (I know it's not Grill 23 or The Oak Room, but it's the best choice for us considering a number of factors.) Any dishes (apps, mains, desserts) to suggest? Any to avoid? How is the veal chop?
Great Chinese between Norwood and N. Attleboro?
Going to "Chinatown" in Cobb's Corner has been a Christmas day tradition for a number of years. Are there any Chinese restaurants open tomorrow that are better between Norwood and N. Attleboro ? (Would cosider Jumbo Seafood in Newton if the concensus is that it is superior to anything closer). Thanks.
New (last 3 yrs) noteworthy places?
I'm not familiar with Olivadi in Norwood. We live in Mansfield and when we want okay Italian, but don't feel like driving into Boston (or Providence) we go to Bon Caldo or Lastoria (Stoughton). How does Olivadi compare?
Portsmouth to Ogunquit
We're looking for at least 1 special restaurant.(New American, Northern Italian or Seafood). Posts on this board have dissuaded me from Arrows. Is McPerkins Cove any better ?
MGM GRAND-anyone been ?
What's the scoop on Craftsteak and the Michael Schlow restaurant at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods? Anyone been yet? So far I haven't found a single restaurant at any of the CT casinos worth going back to.
Mare-closed?
Have not seen any postings about Mare. Has It closed ? If so, anyone know why?
Is there/will there be a new restaurant there? Never made it there and was planning on going this Spring.
Anniversary restaurant on Cape (please help choose)
We go to Wellfleet every summer for a week and for our 1 special meal we go to 26 Atlantic at the Wequasett Inn. It's about a 35 min drive and for a combination of excellent food, service ambiance, and view, it's our absolute Cape favorite.
Spiced Pear - Newport
Has anyone been here for dinner since the start of the summer season? We're thinking of making a reservation for late June. Have never been, but if I understand the reviews over the years, it's had its ups and downs. Don't want to spend that much $$$ until I've heard positive comments from '08.
Tasting menu at L'Espalier
Going for dinner tomorrow night. Has anyone had the Spring tasting menu ? Anything else from the current menu to recommend?
Anniversary Dinner - Tasting Menus?
Don't know why nobody has replied. Also, have never been to either restaurant. My favorite tasting menus are No. 9 Park and L'Espalier.
Opening Day
Going to Opening Day next Tue. My experience from the last 3 year years tells me that the places near Fenway Park we usually go to during the season ( near Kenmore Square and on Peterborough St.)are already packed and impossible to get into at 11:30. Since we'll be getting off the Commuter Rail at Back Bay station, what are good choices for lunch (Sandwiches, Pizza, burgers, etc.) within a short walking distance of the station?
Thanks
La Storia, X&O, or La Scala
I'll be taking 25 or so friends and relatives out to dinner in Stoughton (or Randolph). I realize that none of the above could be considered great or destination restaurants. However, due to a number of constraints (distance, availibility of private room, etc.), they are my only realistic choices. Would appreciate persons familiar with these places suggesting which is the most acceptable in terms of food quality. Thanks
Grand Re-Opening of Loco Wine and Tapas Bar in South Easton
Anyone been to the new location yet?
What are some of the best hot tapas to order?
Sorellina tomorrow.
Going for dinner tomorrow evening. Anything outstanding/not to be missed on the current menu in any category( appetizers, pastas, entrees, desserts, cocktails)?
White River Junction, VT: Is Como Va Closed?
Help! I will be in WRJ in a week on a Monday. Are there any options for a good quality, non-chain dinner? If not right in WRJ, somewhere within 5-6 miles?
Allium-Great Barrington
Anyone been here yet? Am looking forward to some posts on the restaurant that replaced Verdura.
L'Espalier?
L'Espalier somewhere other than its current location would be like the Red Sox somewhere other than Fenway Park
