Dickey's Barbecue - Scottsdale, AZ

So our friends took us to Texas Roadhouse last Monday... umm, yeah. Not impressed. By a long shot. They were so embarrassed that they talked so highly of that place even I felt bad. The sides were horrible. My burger was decent, but that's not usually why you'd go to T.R. I think what made the food taste even worse was the psychological part of the terrible service. Not sure why it seemed so busy with the food being mediocre and the service feeling detached, but maybe those people aren't Chowhounders. I'd spend my hard earned $$ elsewhere in times like these...

Any, I mean any good restaurants in Burbank?

there is Granville... it claims to be somewhat organic and the food is pretty good, but i don't know if that's what you're lookin for. I've only eaten there 3 or 4 times over a 4 year period and each time it was decent. Ambiance is not bad either. Tables and chairs are a bit strange to sit in, as if they didn't get the measurements right... at least it looks good though -lol-

Best bar/restaurant for a 30th birthday?

Need help finding the best spot to celebrate with 15-20 people in the LA area for my (yes, I know it's on here again...sorry) wife's 30th birthday. She's a fashion designer with a palette for quality dining and an excellent menu. She love a good party and warm ambiance is a must.. patio dining is a plus. Any recommendations? Thanks Chowhound family!

Pinkberry or Cefiore? [moved from L.A. board]

A friend of mine recommended I taste Pinkberry back in 2005. But after 6 months of waiting for it to open, I went in to ceFiore in Japanese town (previously called Fiore). I liked ceFiore so much that I wanted to see what the fuss of this "Pinkberry" was all about. So, on a day off, I did a taste test.

When I got to Pinkberry, I had to wait in line for 10+ minutes and when I got my yogurt, it had a funny, kind of plastic aftertaste. I then went back to ceFiore that same day and tried it against what I just had. ceFiore was much more refreshing and the sourness of the original flavor was not overwhelming in comparison to Pinkberry's. I thought I might have had a bad case of Pinkberry, so I gave it another chance. 3 more chances to be exact. But time after time the taste was the same. I'm all for ceFiore. And their fro-yo tastes just as their slogan says, NATURAL Italian frozen yogurt.

BTW, just found out a few weeks ago that Pinkberry was just bought out by Starbucks... I'm not going to Pinkberry's anymore.

sweet lady jane- incredibly rude!

We got our wedding cake in 2005... maybe it did.

sweet lady jane- incredibly rude!

my wife and i hate eating at SLJ. now after reading this thread, we must have had some kind of divine intervention in our dealings with them. we only place our orders over the phone and always get the triple layer berry cake. we pick it up, pay and get out. whenever we break out the cake, there are never any leftovers and usually 2 to 3 people ask where we got it. with such an experience, we decided to get our wedding cake there. they gave us a steal of a deal and asked if we wanted delivery and set up for about $75 more. after the wedding, people raved about our cake [which was an augmented triple layer berry cake with white chocolate fillings and trimmings and a buttercream icing. in hinds sight, we spent under $600 for everything. we thought it was pretty good for our tight budget.

did i mention we will never eat there again? ever.

Best ice cream in Los Angeles- an updated poll

Now that gelato's in the mix on this thread, my wife and i have been to Piccomolo on San Pedro St. and 2nd in Little Tokyo.. surprisingly tasty.

We usually combine their Hazelnut, Roasted Almond, Pistachio, and Cookies & Cappucino together in a take home box. It's insane!
