Rowayton Seafood was dissapointing..... I've never had a memorable meal there. Only plus its on the water. |

I posted my utter disappointment for this restaurant. I went for the burnt ends and hush puppies but it wasnt available on a Sat. night after a show at the Palace. I love the concept of a BBQ tapas place but man, did it go wrong on every level - service, food, noise level, professionalism, presentation & cleanliness. I would try the other location though. |

I had such high hopes for this BBQ tapas joint. Service was descpible, food presentation unappetizing and food okay. The music was off the charts loud and on a Saturday night all the reco foods were not available, Great concept, horrible execution. |

A relative of mine loves small plates, She can't have too many carbs or traditional (pasta, beans, etc.) so small plates make her feel fullfilled. When she comes to Fairfield (I'm in Darien) her favorite has been The Dressing Room in Westport & Barcelona in Stamford. On a side note we've been to Coromedel in Darien (I hate Indian food,- she loved, I disliked b/c i dont dig Indian or mexican, btw) and Rizziero in Stamford (sp). Any suggestions for small medium pllates for her diet variety & huge appetite? Many thanks. |

ISO easy, make-ahead, & tasty Gluten free AND Casein free Recipes Trying to help my best friend with her son's diet. He's on the autisim spectrum and it was highly suggested that gluten free AND casein free diet will improve his diagnosis. It is really hard to find products that replace staples like bread and sweets, and food choices in general for this 5 year old boy. He has a sophisticated palate for his age, loves fish and other foods. My friend also has a 3 year old girl that doesn't have any dietary restrictions. Most of the products are not tasty and devoid of any nutritional value. She is interested in freeze-ahead, make-ahead meals and everyday, easy recipes. We've searched the web and we are now looking to our Hounds that may help us with suggestions and/or recommendations. Thank you. |

Cooking Magazines & Online Subscriptions I have recently stopped many subscriptions of cooking subscriptions because of the cost and my ability to access and peruse recipes, interesting blogs, and food articles online. The only one that has made my budget cut is Cooks Illustrated (although I subscribe online and the print version is risking termination), Bon Appetit, and Fine Cooking. My guilty pleasure subscriptions that are now gone are Rachel Ray (please no bashing, lol) and Food Network. Also gone are Cuisine at Home and Savour which never gave me much enjoyment anyway. I know for sure Cooks Illustrated online will stay and I buy the annual and specialty books (why?, out of habit) but which subscriptions, online or print are a must? With so many blogs (food52.com) one of my recent favorites and online subscriptions, print seems like a waste of money. Looking foward to CH's feedback. |

If your in Fairfield County, I highly recommend Darien Cheese Shop in the Goodwives Shopping Center. Very knowlegable and enthusastic staff. They offer, hard to find and artisinal condiments, coffee, tea and salami. Grateful that they are 1 mile away from me. |

Cookbooks you shouldn't have purchased...which books just didn't work for you? Recent Letdown: Spain: A culinary Road Trip by Mario Batali with Gwyenth Paltrow. Nothing new or substantial. Simply an impulse purchase. |

Easy Dinner Party Ideas for Five? Glad you like the quote but ashamed for my lazy spelling! Enjoy the cruise as we get another 6-12 inches of snow! Let us know how your dinner fared! |

Easy Dinner Party Ideas for Five? I agree with Beef Stew with potatoes and veggies and large can of diced tomatoes. Make it in a crockpot and make the day before. Serve with a hearty salad with good cheese, pears or apples, and toasted nuts with a simple vinegarette. Buy a loaf of artisinal bread, warm when serving, and serve with Lurac butter. Appetizer perhaps simple crudite and ranch dip, popcorn and nut mix (retro?) and booze. For dessert (make ahead) sandwich vanilla bean between tates cookies and roll edges in nuts or small choc chips. Lotys of booze and dinner is done and cleanu-up is miniumal. Make sure your dishwasher is empty after dinner and have your guests help clear the table and load the washer. |

brush some with veg oil and spice up and bake as alt to chips. agree with the mini muffin, add anything you like. i did chopped pear procuitto & blue cheese or chopped chicken mixed with ranch for tasty appetizers. i use them when im feeling creativce but always bake or pan fry, i dont do deep frying. enjoy. |

Making Beef Stew today....but.... can it be held over until tomorrow night? Recipe sounds great. Beef Stew always benefits, IMHO, with sitting in the fridge and enjoying the next day (slowly reheated) - Potatoes and all but I would suggest chunks so it doesnt disintergrate. I add Bay leafs and can tomato paste or diced tomatoes. |

Looking for a restaurant that serves Poutine in FFC Would really like to try this Quebec snack without driving to NYC. Does anyone know any restaurants serving this dish, which is comprised of crisp fries, gravy, and cheese curds? Read about this before but this link has me going crazy to try, |

VillageVines - Has anyone used it to make discounted food reservations in NYC My friend just booked a dinner reservarion for us tomorrow night at Artisinal and paid $10 for an offer of 25% off the entire bill, including alcohol. They offer many choices and seems to good to be true. Hounds - has anyone register at this site and used the savings code with satisfactory results? I've listed the instructions, per VillageVines.com : How to Enjoy Your VillageVines Meal: When you show up for your reservation, simply remind the host / hostess that you made your booking through VillageVines. |

We love french bistros and American with a twist. Looking for a low-key, flavor packed dinner to eat, talk, run out to smoke a butt (if needbe) without an attitude, if possible. Celebrating my friends b-day. . Ideal location open if the food is right. Otherwise looking for East 10, 20, 30 & 40's or Flatiron. No dress code preferred. Thanks, Hounds |
