Martha Bakes, and We Like It

I may have to watch this because every baking recipe I've ever tried from MS has been a monumental failure.

Best Hard Cider? [moved from Spirits board]

Just tried Crispin Hard Cider and I liked it, I just wished it came in a smaller bottle instead of 22 ounces.

Airport food

I don't get to fly too often, but when I do, I always get a cinnabon before I leave. Because if I'm goin' down--at least it'll be with at tummy full of gooey sugary goodness...

Columbus- near COSI

Hi--

We will be in Columbus in July---on a Sunday. We plan on visiting COSI with our 6 year old. We prefer not to eat in chains--and our 6 yr old is a very well behaved and experienced diner. Looking for recommendations in the area.

ISO: Patio for brunch/lunch on Cleveland's East side?

Melt in Lakewood has a nice Sunday Brunch/Lunch. Went there mothers day and had a yummy crab omelet. They have a patio...but its tiny. On the bright side, the dining area inside has been expanded.

I have a bottle of 96 Dolce.......

Have I waited too long to drink it?

It has been kept in a fairly stable enviroment. I don't really know why I have been keeping it so long, other than I don't really drink alot of sweet wines. I know it was expensive. Is it worth more money now???

Trader Joe's Frozen Fish. Any suggestions?

I've been buying alot of fish lately from TJ's too. Usually I'll pull the fish out of the freeze the night before and let it thaw in the fridge. Sometimes I'll keep it in the bag and thaw it under lukewarm wather.

If you have left over Salmon, I like to use it in a cold salad the next day. You can cook up some couscous, chop up some cukes, tomatos, onion, some dill, toss it all together with alittle olive oil, red wine vinager and add the salmon. Its very good.

Diet Soda + Cake Mix = How does this Work??

Ok---so my friend who is doing Weight Watchers told me about this recipie to make a 1 point treat. It is simply 1 can diet soda + 1 package cake mix (any kind) mix together, pour into muffin tins bake at 350 for 20 mins or so and voila a 1 point cupcake.

Now I'm not on WW but I was intregued by this, so I got a cheapie box of chocolate cake mix, added 1 can diet Cherry Coke and lo and behold a cupcake....

I'm so wierded out by this? How does this work with no eggs/milk/oil?

TARGET - what's your favorite food/beverage item?

I'm slighly ashamed to admit this, but because I was having a REALLY REALLY busy night when I just could not cook for my DH and son I bought a frozen Archer Farms lasanga. My DH said it was awesome. Thank You Archer Farms.....

Town Barefoot Contessa films in?

I think that in the back of her latest book she lists places she likes to shop at. It might be worth a look if you're plannning a trip.

Everyday Food Magazine - did IT change or did I?

I'll second that. It seems that there have been alot of 'repeats' lately AND it seems like every other issue is a 'Special Light Issue'---which I don't have a prob with light and healthful cooking it just gets pretty repetitive.

I always get a chuckle over the 'After school Snacks section'---its always something like Cheese and Crackers---I mean really a recipie for Cheese and crackers?

I won't renew either...time to find a new magazine....

cici's pizza????

So gross....

I'm a mom and had a friend who kept raving about what a great place Cici's was for familys...so one evening we decided to check it out. The place was packed with what me and my husband call 'Pro-Eaters' determined to stuff as much food into their gullets and really get their 5 buck worth. The dining area was filthy, the kitchen could barely keep up with replenishing the pizzas, salad bar or the 'desert' table. Blech just so gross. We couldn't eat fast enough so we could get the hell out.

Can we Discuss Cider here?

Hi,

I guess this is more of a beer than spirit....

I've had Strongbow and I like it more on tap than from the can. I've had Orignal Sin Hard cider--from NY--on tap. Of course there's the usual suspects Woodchuck, and the one with the Rhino on the label. The other day at Trader Joes I picked up a sixer of 'Newtons Folly', which was fairly appley and barely bubbly.

Are there anymore out there? Any recommendations?

Help/Tips/Advice for improving carb/protein balance in diet

A good way to get more protein is to add Whey Protein. I get mine from Trader Joes, in the vanilla flavor. It can be blended with water, milk, soymilk and added to cereals, or use it for a quick smoothie base and add in berries/fruits (which I buy frozen from TJ's). I like the taste, and it keeps me satisfied--its fairly quick to prepare.

Variations on a Theme - Regular, Kosher, and Mexican Cokes

Just saw in the newest 'Details' magazine, that to make a 'proper' Cuba libre, they recommend only using Mexican Coke.

BTW is Mexican Coke availible at Latin Markets in the USA? I like to try a 'proper' Cuba Libre.

Stuffed cabbage--country of origin

Just wanted to sat that this thread makes me miss my little polish grandma. We called her Grandma 'B' , and she always made the best comfort food. Her cabbage rolls were some of the best. I continue to make them for my family.
