used to live in Chicago-coming back for French Food
Looking for a Fancy Excititng French restaurant in Chi Town. Must offer Foie Grois and have a warm atmosphere. Been to the big ones already CIte, NOMI,Everest,Tru, Trotters, les nomades, etc. Anything New in the last 5 years? I used to love Le Frances in wheeling. THANKS FOODIES!!!
My new favorite fine dining in Orlando-La coquina's
There were 7 courses. Amuse Boushe of caviar 3 ways, tuna wrapped in prosciutto with white truffle, duck with lettuce boats, lobster with yuzo yogurt sauce. buffalo tenderloin with squid ink pasta and two desserts. UNBELIEVABLE!! no choice, just that and wine pairing. Beautiful presentation, fine dining, French preparations. If I could afford it, I would go every week.
My new favorite fine dining in Orlando-La coquina's
This restaurant is located in the Buena Vista Hyatt in Orlando. We found it online and it posted no menu but, I am adventurous so I decided to go for it. Its called La Coquina'a Chefs Kitchen table. There were four of us. It only opens on Satruday, reservations only and it opens at 7. Located in The very bottom of the hotel which is sort of weird because you walk past all these ghostlike rooms that are closed. We were greeted with a glass of Champagne and 7 excellent courses with wine pairings. You could go in the kitchen and Chef Orlando would tell how where he got the ingredients and how he cooks the items. The menu changes every saturday and was about 100.00 p.p. not including wine.
More Excellent food in Sarasota
Last Sunday I went to the "Cork" in St. Armonds Cr in Sarasota. No reservations, we walked right in and got a prime table by the window. I had Foie Grois, gazpacho, and duck. Everything was excellent and recommended.
The Venue Tampa Bay
Went to the Venue Saturday. We sat at the bar of the tapas restaurant. The food was excellent there. The staff was friendly and they gave us a tour of the million dollar update. It has something for everyone. Live music, and a disco plus two restaurants. I can't wait to go back!!! Dress code enforced. No casual Florida attire here.
Gratuity included?
Last night I received a bill that had a 20% service fee. I asked the waiter about this and they said that it is the gratuity. There was just two of us, I do see it included on large tables. Can they do that? What happens if we did not like the service? (which we did and had no problem paying) I have been to other countries that do this but not her in the USA. Is this a trend?
New Year's Eve in Sarasota
Sorry this is late but I had a GREAT meal at The Bottle Stop. Located in St. Armonds. Upstairs is fancy and has neuvo French and downstairs is more casual.
