Blue Hill ~ Stone Barns ~ your thoughts !
I think it was ok, not great, kind of over rated.
Island Park/Oceanside Area
My husband and I also went to Mitchell's once- and never again for us either.
If fact he wanted to walk out without paying because the servise and the food was so bad.
Real NY Pizza in Valley Stream/Hewlett?
Blue Moon on North Park Avenue,in Rockville Centre. Just off of the Sunrise Highway.
Not far form Hewlett.
Broadway Pizza has had it's day a long time ago.
Island Park/Oceanside Area
Artie's May have been mentioned as a winner on this board , but to me it’s only just another pita joint.
Peter's may have been an institution at one time, BUT this is NOT the same owner, it was sold about 2-3 years ago and is just a Seafood Nathan.s now. personally am also little turned off by being across the creek from a landfill. As well as it being a bikers and hippy gathering spot...
As for the Smokehouse, this is just about the worst rib place imaginable ..
Island Park/Oceanside Area
"Artie's aka South Shore Fish Market the class act in south shore fish restaurants"
WHAT? "class act "! .....Paper plates, no credit cards, paper cups! Where is the class?
The same goes of Peter's Clam House!
Ya want a Class Act, go to Jimmy Hays.
Another good choice would be La Taberna. (a bit expensive for what the give you, but good)
But I do agree that The Smokehouse, was terrible.
Five Guys Burgers & Fries - Anyone Been?
I heard they are going to open one in Long Beach, LI.
Long Beach, Long Island's Green Market.
Oy! Don't waste your time!
3-4 rip off stands. And that's it.
Clam shack in Point Lookout?
I tend not to go to places like that either.
I'm not a snob and i do like road side places, but this is not one of them.
Last time I was there, about a year ago, we had to sit next to a smelly garbage bin and the rest room also.
And to get a pack of sugar or salt or pepper you had to go to their next door fish market.
Give me a break.
Branzino Restaurant, Lynbrook, New York
Branzino, the same place that was one called Villa Borghese is a hit or miss restaurant.
When we tried it we felt it was a disappointment, the atmosphere was nice althouh it is very small. loud and crampt. We felt that the food was only fair and the prices were very high .
The first time we were here it was pretty good, we had a nice waiter and the food was good but very expensive. So we came back again. The next time (second and last) The waiter was rude, we sat a table so small we didn't have enought room for the food. We ordered drinks and it took almost 20 min to arrive I would not recommend this place to anyone. There is very little redeeming value to eating here. It was so noisey we couldn't hear eachother the prices of their specials were a complete rip off. ( prices are not mentioned by the waiter) The the whole experience I'm sorry to say was very dissappointing.
Clam shack in Point Lookout?
I'd pass on it.
No biggie, paper plates and do it your self everything.
Alias Smith and Jones, Oceanside, LI
It has been a couple of years since we were there also.
Our mistake is that we went back.
Alias Smith and Jones, Oceanside, LI
My husband and I were there this week and I must say it was AWFUL although the service was fine, the food was so bad, I had to go somewhere to have desert to get the taste out of my mouth.
Turquoise Restaurant
On E. 81st St. bet. 2nd & 3rd Aves. We were there last night and we were very unhappy
Poor service and the food was not very good either. It seemsed to me that all the dishes pretty much used the same sauces/spices and ended up tasting the same.
It was a very typical Israeli type fish place, With the same old, same old traditional hummus etc.
Freedom BBQ in Island Park
We went to the new place where Freedom BBQ in Island Park WAS, Now called The Island Smokehouse.and had the WORST meal ever.
And I mean EVER!
I have only one work for it.
YUCK
The food was ever worse than the terrible, and amateurish service. Much worse. It was really Awful
Forget about it go to Swingbellies in Long beach
Upscale Restaurant in Nassau County
I agree with most but stay away form Brivo, they are rip off city. And also very over rated.
Also I can add, Brooks and Porter in Merrick for Steaks, Bryant & Cooper in Roslyn for Steak and Lobsters, Toku in Manhassett for Asian
Chinatown Brasserie
Thanks
I understand they have several rooms.

Thanks in advance
Does sushi have parasites?
I have heard that the ingestion of raw, or lightly cured, or insufficiently cooked infected fish can transfer the live worms to humans. But, most of these parasites cannot adapt to human hosts.
Any thoughts?
Oceanside--dinner suggestions?
I guess that Sole is the best in Oceanside, but it's not like it used to be.
I agree to try RVC, only 3-5 mins away and much better choices.
Da Ugo, Rockville Centre
A bit expensive for what they give you. The veggies are the same on every plate and they have been for years. The seem to get a very old crowd and thats what they cater to.
But the food was pretty good.
I haven't been there for years and went back recently it was like stepping back into time ..nothing changed. Same crew of waiters, same menu, same veggies on every plate. But they offer a good selection of fish there daily, I guess thats because of the older crowd they get.
BEST ITALIAN ON LONG ISLAND ?
I would have to agree with you on both to Avoid Stresa in Manhasset. And Piccola Venezia in Astoria being a good one to go to......
Another one to avoid would be Brivo in East Hills, (Glen Cove) I'd avoid it like the plague!
Solo Sun. brunch: Galatoires or Com. Palace?
Galatoires hands down, and sit downstairs.
desperate for a good hamburger
Try Mr. B's on Royal Street, you will love it (for lunch) they have great hamburgers if thats what you want.
Was it a mistake to follow the concierge's suggestion of the Gumbo Shop?
I never follow the concierge's advice, I feel that they get paid off.
As for the Gumbo Shop, I think you can do a lot better.
Romantic(ish) Lunch in the Quarter?
I agree with you on Bayona, but I feel that the food at Bistro at Maison de Ville has gone down hill. As for it being Romantic(ish) ? It depends on how you hit it. It can go either way,
New Orleans Food & Wine Festival - Any Reports?
I was there, the only REALLY exciting event was the Royal Street wine stroll, ( the local shops had wine tastings from the popular vineyards, but unfourtunatly it was raining cats and dogs that night and we skipped it.
Breakfast in or close by the French Quarter.
The "TUDE" at Petunia's is enough to keep me away!
Rockville Centre Recs
"Artie's Seafood or it maybe called South Shore Seafood on Austin Blvd in Island Park. "
I don't agree with this one!
High prices, paper plates, no credit cards and only fair food.
No way Jose.
