Special occasion dinner in Baltimore

WOODBERRY! Love that place.

If you want to get fancy, Prime Rib is a good choice. I thought when I was going there it would be too stuffy, but my boyfriend and I had a wonderful time and it felt good to get a little dressed up! (we're same age as you guys too) :)

What about Jack's? Salt is really high on my list too.

Best Restaurants in Little Italy (Baltimore)?

Depends if you want red sauce italian or northern italian. You'll find tons of the former in LI...
Inside LI- Try Gia's- Mother/Daughter team running the place, small cozy, good food
The latter can be found outside LI limits- Cinghiale gets my vote

RYLEIGH'S OYSTERS, Baltimore!

Monday night happy hour specials run all night

Fells Point/Inner Harbor

Peters, Mezze...also One Eyed Mike's if it's a nice night, sit out back and order something off the specials menu.

July 4th weekend-Family w/3 and 1 yr old, where to eat?

I was asked to suggest some places for a visiting family to eat with a 3 and 1 y/o while they visit Baltimore. This is not something I can really help with so I'm hoping any of you with experience or recommendations will share.
They are staying on the west side of the harbor, on St Paul/Light Street and are on foot.

For lunch?
Pratt Street Ale House? Kooper's? Ryleigh's?
What about Dinner?
Little Italy?

The O's are out of town and I'm hoping the younger crowd will be out of town for the holiday as well. I didn't want to recommend any inner harbor restos as it will probably be mobbed and waiting with a one year old is probably not on their agenda. Plus there's certainly better food to be had elsewhere.

Please help! Thanks

What's your favorite thing to dip french fries in?

That's too funny, a frosty was the first thing I thought of! It's been years and years, but I remember being young and watching my parents laugh at how much I loved the combination.

If I have them now, I'll mix malt vinegar with ketchup, or greek yogurt with either dijon or sriracha.

Your latest 'addiction'?

i think the website is candyboots

Your latest 'addiction'?

That is such a good combo! With some cinnamon sprinkled on top too. I also eat pumpkin butter with cc in fall/winter time

Anyone been to Talara yet (Harbor East - BMore)?

They had a pretty decent selection of wine on the list, lots of variety. I was so happy to see that they have Xingu by the bottle so I stuck with that.

Have done a board search, still have a few assorted questions re: College Park, Baltimore....

You could also make your way to Boheme Cafe on Pratt St for lunch. Or Miss Shirley's!

Thank you!

Smooze frozen fruit snacks, in guava/coconut and Trader Joe's plain frozen yogurt topped with almonds, cinnamon and vanilla agave. Experimenting with different toppings/mix-ins is definitely part of the fun!

Your latest 'addiction'?

sort of off topic- but can you give me more info on growing cilantro in a window box? location? morning or eve sun?
BTW-your sandwich sounds amazing

Your latest 'addiction'?

Did you make your own rhubarb syrup or did you find it in a store? Sounds delicious!

Metropolitan Wine Bar

I thought Spoons did have booze? Beer and wine is on the menu and I've seen it in the fridges, although I've never ordered one.

Worst Beer Ever?

Fruity Pebbles Beer

Cooking with Stout

I'm curious about the stout/chicken combo. I have used stouts with lamb and pork sausage, gamier meat, but would think maybe a lager, ale or even pilsner might be a better bet? I tend to use those when cooking lean, lighter meats like chicken or turkey.

Ellicott City, Columbia, Hanover Best Eats

If you want Chinese, search the boards for Grace Garden. You won't be disappointed :)

Fish 'n Chips in Baltimore ?

I tried Mama's FnC a few months back and although huge, was like eating fish wrapped in funnel cake; oddly chewy, sweet, thick, mushy at times...yuck.

I would recommend the FnC at Captain Larry's, lightly breaded served with their tartar sauce and fresh fries. I like to just put malt vinegar on the plate and leave it at that.

Mick O'Shea's too!

Help me find a summer beer

I wouldn't refuse a Pliny any month! Wish Russian River could be found in MD. Not too far of a drive, though. I had my first try at Tria up your way. Have they started selling bottles or still only available in draft?

Help me find a summer beer

Ah you beat me to it! I feel exposed. I'll retract and say 'spring' beer but won't limit it to cold weather as it didn't remind me of Bigfoot at all. Thought if the OP was looking for that flavor it might work?
How about I switch it out with Hoegaarden? I also liked Xingu...although it is black beer it was surprisingly light to me...almost tea-like.

Help me find a summer beer

Agree with 2 hearted...
I liked the Oskar Blues Gordon also, not too strong

Tour of Brewery? (DC and surrounding)

You could head up 83N and start in PA
Troegs in in Harrisburg
Clipper City in Baltimore (check their webpage, they have been having events at the brewery lately, chili n beer, bbq n beer, etc) Good beer bars-Brewers Art, Max's, Mahaffey's
Victory in Downingtown and Weyerbacher too! (not right off 83 but not too too out of the way)

Dogfish head in DE is a great brewery and informative tour, but it's kinda out in the middle of nowhere, so if you were looking for tour, lunch, nightlife, you won't find it in Milton

Since you will be sampling, maybe just a city tour of great beer bars with a brewery tour thrown in would be good? That way you can cab it around ,try different beers and not have to hear about the breweing process ad nauseum.

Have fun!

Best Baltimore find for under $10

I think Ale Mary's is still doing their blue plate specials for $4.95, changes each day

List of Baltimore wants/questions

Sorry for the CAPS...thought this would be easiest way to answer...

Asian supermarkets? (Chinese and Japanese in particular)- HMART ON ROLLING RD IN CATONSVILLE...THE FRESH SEAFOOD IN THE BACK OF THE STORE IS REASON ALONE TO MAKE THE TRIP

For that matter, South Indian restaurants? (Any place specializing in chaat dishes is a bonus) IN YOUR AREA, AMBASSADOR DINING ROOM (ACROSS THE STREET FROM ONE WORLD CAFE, AND THE CARLYLE CLUB A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY RECENTLY REOPENED WITH INDIAN FARE, ALTHOUGH i DON'T BELIEVE IT'S SOUTH INDIAN

A bar that does serious cocktails (like makes their own bitters)? I'D SECOND THE WOODBERRY RECS

Vegetarian restaurants? ONE WORLD IS NEAR YOU, GREAT SAGE IN COLUMBIA, LIQUID EARTH IN FELLS PT (MORE OF A CAFE/JUICE BAR THAN RESTO)

Sushi? MATSURI IN FEDERAL HILL (MINATO IS IN MT VERNON REF'D IN AN EARLIER POST AND IS GOOD TOO)

Brewpubs? BREWER'S ART! AND NOT A BREWPUB, BUT IF YOU LIKE YOUR BEER, HEAD TO MAX'S IN FELLS PT OR MAHAFFEY'S IN CANTON. ABBEY BURGER AND METROPOLITAN IN FED'L HILL HAVE DECENT BEER SELECTIONS TOO.

Raw bar? (I only promised not crab cakes!) RYLEIGH'S IN FEDERAL HILL, MAMA'S ON THE HALF SHELL IN CANTON, NICK'S IN THE CROSS ST MARKET

Cheesemongers? YOU HAVE A GREAT CHEESE RESOURCE CLOSE TO YOU AT THE WINE SOURCE IN HAMPDEN, GREAT BEER, WINE AND SNACK SELECTIONS AS WELL. IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHEESE, IT'S WORTH IT TO SIT AT THE BAR AT CHARLESTON AND HAVE SOME WINE AND A FEW OF THEIR CHEESE SELECTIONS.

Wine bars? GRAND CRU IN BEL SQUARE CLOSE TO YOU, CHESAPEAKE WINE COMPANY IN CANTON (SHOP WITH A BAR FOR FLIGHTS) OTHERS THAT DON'T NECESSARILY FIT THE 'WINE BAR' DESCRIP BUT ARE GOOD TO STOP IN FOR A GLASS: FED HILL-CORKS, WINE MARKET, AND TAVERNA CORVINO; HARBOR EAST/FELLS- CINGHIALE, PAZO, CHARLESTON; CANTON- MAYBE HELEN'S GARDEN?

hilarious kashi stories... (some might find offensive)

I thought I narrowed it down to the ingredient inulin...did you read anything further on that?
it was good for some laughs at first and I love the crunch, but cant do it anymore!

Mother's Day weekend Reservations-Need feedback

Thank you, time to make some phone calls!

Mother's Day weekend Reservations-Need feedback

Hello Boston hounds-
My mother, sister and I are visiting Boston from Philadelphia and Baltimore for the weekend and staying in Long Wharf. Here are our reservations, I'd love to hear feedback, suggestions, anything. We love restaurants that aren't too stuffy, great wine lists, fun atmosphere, great food.
Friday- Lucca for drinks, dinner at Prezza

Saturday- Maybe South End? This is where we weren't sure. I've seen Sel Del La Terre's website and it looks tasty. Would this be better for dinner Saturday or brunch Sunday? Looks like they need a CC to hold a reso so want to know for sure this is where we should go. We have a space at Gaslight being held for Saturday dinner but can cancel. Then head to South End (if SDLT is a good dinner spot) and try to get a drink at Toro?

Sunday- It's late, but either Gaslight or SDLT looks like where we'll end up.

I'd like to make it to Drink near ICA at some point, is it worth the trip? My sister is not an adventurous eater so as much as I'd love to try some local holes-in-the-wall or ethnic places those probably wont work this trip. Thanks so much!

What do you eat too much of?

No such thing...turn that frown upside down ;-)

What do you eat too much of?

I used to look forward to the pink amoxicillin when I was younger, it was so good.
