Best Japanese Steakhouse in Orlando

I loved the steak at Ruth's Chris in Winter Park, and also, if you want teppenyaki/Japanese-style, Kobe Steakhouse was the way to go (their white sauce, noodles, and their white ice cream cake is AMAZING!)!!!

Korean Galbi Buffet in Orlando?

Does anyone know any great all-you-can-eat Korean galbi places in or around the Orlando area? I am also willing to drive the distance if it's worth it!

I am looking for some great, authentic, well-seasoned galbi with all the great sides and fixings. I've only been to Shin Jung, but unfortunately, it's a little pricey as well as they don't give you that much.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Cafe de France vs. Chez Vincent vs. Paris Bistro?

I am looking for a romantic French restaurant - price is not a factor, but the ambience, the food, and great portions are a must (for an anniversary)! Country French, maybe? So far, I've been reading the reviews on these French restaurants, and was hoping if anyone has any feedbacks on the following: Cafe de France, Chez Vincent, and Paris Bistro?

I was told if I were to go to Cafe de France, I must try their house bread, their rack of lamb, and their Les Escargots a Lail.

For Chez Vincent, I was told to get their rack of lamb, their salad with pumpkin seeds and goat cheese, as well with mussels for appetizer.

For Paris Bistro, I heard all of their menu items are good, but the ambience is not that great.

I've also heard about Le Coq au Vin, but they are closed on Mondays, so that's a no-go!

Thank you!

Chez Vincent - still worth it?

Hello, all!

I was wondering if Chez Vincent located in Winter Park is still worth the trip? I've seen past reviews, but they were both positive/negative in regards to the food and the service - has anyone been there recently?

I've been suggested to get their goat cheese pumpkin seed salad, their rack of lamb with bleu cheese sauce, and their mussels for appetizers.

Anyone?

Thanks!

PF Chang's- could it actually be any good?

I agree - I think all their food is way too salty and charge you too much. I think people are being sucked in because they have a nice decor and looks so 'chic'.

Best Steak in Chicago?

I forgot about Joe's! Their filet mignon was peppery and fantastic!

Orlando Steak Recap- Vitos Chophouse & Ruth's Chris

I went to Ruth Chris for an anniversary, and everything was perfect! Everyone was just so unbelievably nice, the service impeccable, and the steak was done perfectly in the butter sauce - fantastic! The salads were great, and the loaded potatoes awesome! (The house specialty, the creamed spinach, was alright, but we were pretty much stuffed to finish it).

Oh, did I mention their creme brulee was to die for?

Best Steak in Chicago?

I've liked Stoney River in Deerfield so far. I've been to the Chicago Chop House, taking all the great reviews they've had - however, I guess had such high expectations. They had to re-cook the steak to medium-rare 3 times, in which by the fourth time, it was pretty much well-overly done (our waiter was nice, and gave us dessert on the house (Eli's cheesecake, yummy!). While the ambience was nice, romantic, and cozy, in my opinion, I think this restaurant is a tad bit overly-hyped.

Basha vs. Pita Inn

When I went to Basha's about a year ago, the entrees that were ordered weren't fresh. The pita bread was a bit stale, and the meat chewy. Maybe they've gotten better? I haven't been back.

On the other hand, I've always has positive experiences over at Pita Inn - love their beef schwarma, baba ghanouj, and falafel plate! Also, the place is always bustling, but always kept clean.

the may street cafe

I went there for dinner. It was packed! The tables were close together, the decor was cool, and it had a nice vibe. However, the only thing I remembered from the meal was that the pork we ordered wasn't cooked all the way through (having it medium-well was suggested). Not for me! Everything else was just bland.

Maybe it was a bad night.

the best mexican food around town!

I personally think the Big Chimichanga Dinner (not sure how authentic it is) at The Burrito House on Lincoln is wonderful! Big portion, very crispy, and very cheesy. Love their house-made guac and their hot sauce.

Opened late, too!

Fat Canary....been there? [Moved from DC/Baltimore Area board]

I went to Fat Canary for my anniversary, and I just remember that their ginger bbq ribs were AMAZING (appetizers)! We also ordered a rack of lamb, chicken, and beef carpacchio, but they were all just 'okay/medicore.'

I would go there in a heartbeat just to order a ton of their ribs!

The service and the ambience were great.

Korean Restaurants Orlando/Daytona Area

I agree with Shin Jung. I was a little weary in going to this (or any Korean) restaurant, but it was a great experience! I ordered the galbi bbq and neng myun. The galbi bbq was really good (greatly seasoned, and had all the right bahnchan); the neng myun was alright - a little blend, but still refreshing!

A little pricey, but delicious! It definitely satiated my Korean food craving! And, the servers were hilarious and incredibly nice!

Busch Gardens

I've eaten the 3-sausage (?) combo platter at Das Festhaus and their ridiculously-sized German chocolate cake. I found that the darker-colored sausage was the tastier (I guess they are all bratwursts), and the German potato salad was great. The red cabbage was a little bit too vinegar-y for my taste. The cake (even though we didn't finish it), was really good - not too sweet.

Best Thai food in Orlando

I also vote for Royal Thai - I've never tried other Thai restaurants in the area, but it seems that whenever I'm in Orlando, I always make a visit to this place once!

Their chicken satay is delicious with the peanut sauce, and their chicken panang curry is awesome!

Don't forget to order the Thai iced tea!

The Cheese Shop in Winter Park

Is this the same Cheese Shop that is found in Williamsburg, VA? If it is, do they sell bread ends and their special house sauce? I also remember that their roast beef sandwich was amazing (with all the fixings), while their chicken salad sandwich was a total bust!

Best crispy gyros in Orlando/Winter Park?

Hello! I know that certain restaurants prepare their gyro/gyro platter differently, but does anyone know where to get some great, CRISPY gyros in the Orlando/Winter Park area? So far, I've only found suggestions on Mediterranean and Tony's Deli - any feedback on these places?

I've also found that a trip to Tarpon Springs ('Gyro City') would be in order - any places there for recommendations?

Thank you!

African oxtail meal?

Any suggestions for fantastic oxtail meal (braised over rice), as found in African cuisine? Hole-in-the wall and close to the Orlando/Winter Park area would be great. I've had Boma and Jika suggestions - anywhere else?

Thanks!

SOS Mr. Mervine (& Others)!

Mr. Mervine! I know you have a plethora of information, and would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

I will be landing in Orlando on the 15th just a bit past midnight, and will be leaving the following Tuesday evening. I will be in the Winter Park area. I was hoping if there were any suggestions on late-night eateries? (The only thing I found was Beto's (24 hours; found mixed reviews) and Sonic's (that opens until 2am).

I am up for any cuisine and am willing to try something new. Anywhere for really great, crispy gyros? How about for great braised oxtail over rice (as found in African cuisine)?

Also, I made reservations at at Le Coq Au Vin and Ali Baba. Any feedback on those restaurants, and what to order (I know that Ali Baba is also a buffet)?

Just to give a little history of the places I've visited the last time I was in Orlando, I've enjoyed the Kobe Steakhouse (everything was amazing, especially their noodles and that unbelievable white sauce!), Ruth's Chris (loved the steak!), Royal Thai (great Panang Curry), Sonny's BBQ (loved the cornbread and the pulled pork), Chik-Fil-A (loved the nuggets), Bagel King (just okay), Fudruckers, Pollo Tropical (loved the chicken), Five Guys' burgers (loved the burgers and the cajun-esque(?) fries), and the galbi dinner at Shin Jung. I've also tried Kohinoor, La Granja, Patsio's Diner, Gizmo's Sushi, and Jeremiah's Soft-Serve (loved the swirl soft-serve!).

The one place that I have NOT enjoyed was the Crazy Buffet (bad sushi, poor selection). Maybe it was a bad day I went?

Price range really doesn't matter; I guess, cheaper the better, but also prefer quality over quantity (although I would not mind buffets!). Hole-in-the wall places would be awesome, being a tad bit romantic even better!

Here is a list I've compiled so far:
For Cafes:
1. Austins Coffee
2. Palmano's Espresso Bar

For Breakfast:
1. Park Plaza Gardens
2. Briarpatch Restaurant

For Eateries:
1. Mediterranean Deli
2. Tony's Deli
3. Johnson's Diner
4. Cafe Tu Tu Tango
5. Ceviche
6. Nile Ethiopian Cuisine
7. Black Bean Deli
8. Ali Baba (made reservations)
9. Millie's Jamaican Cafe
10. Caribbean Sunshine & Bakery
11. Taquitos Jalisco
12. Midnight Blue
13. Le Coq Au Vin (made reservations)

For Dessert:
1. Charlie's Gourmet Pastries
2. The Dessert Lady

THANK YOU (and others) for all the help in advance!!! ;D
