Favorite Store-Bought Cheesecake?
Now, when it's still fresh in your mind, can you please rate/review any store-bought cheesecakes
that you had over Shavuos.
I decided to be lazy, and forgo my home-made blender sour cream cheesecake, with sour cream topping, for the tempting-looking Costco version. Though, imho, it was o.k., it didn't really have the flavor and texture that I was looking for.
Kosher in Greenwich, CT?
Thinking of planning an overnight, or 3 day trip to do some sightseeing in the Hartford area. Haven't
done any research yet, or even looked at a map.
Are any of the eating destinations mentioned above - Stamford, Riverdale, Washington Heights, New Rochelle -
a close enough drive to make sense for us?
Philly Cream Cheese in a tub - KLP?
Is Philadelphia Cream Cheese spread in a tub, (not the whipped kind), available KLP?
Low Fat Creamy Cottage Cheese for Passover
During the year I use Crowley's Lowfat1% Cottage Cheese, which I
enjoy because it's nice and creamy. Since it's not available for Passover, does anyone
know of a KLP brand with a comparable consistency?
Thanks!
Bottled KLP Salad Dressings?
What are your favorite store-bought salad dressings for Pesach?
Heading to Vegas
Smith's supermarket has a very large kosher section, including a varied take-out department, groceries, snacks, and baked goods. You can find the address on the Shamash Kosher Database, as I don't remember it offhand. Be aware, that it's quite a drive from the strip. Albertson's, which is a bit closer - though still not that close (on Fort Apache Rd. and Sahara Ave.- across from Panini Grill Restaurant) - also has take-out, and groceries, but not as extensive a selection as Smith's. They do have bbq chicken, kugel, and deli, as well as kosher groceries.
The take-out in both places is decent, not great.
Another option is Jerusalem Restaurant, which I seem to remember had a Shabbos take-out menu. The restaurant itself had pretty tasty food, so I assume their take-out package would be good as well.
The above info. is based on our visit to Las Vegas, in November, 2011. Don't know if anything has changed since.
Brooklyn - Just Desserts (Pareve)
Anyone know of a restaurant in Brooklyn where you can go for pareve desserts?
'Thanks!
Best Filled Donuts in Brooklyn? Can they be Frozen?
Where can I find the best filled donuts in Brooklyn? ...or am I best off getting them from my local kosher Dunkin' Donuts?
Also, do donuts freeze well?
Favorites at Pomegranate in Brooklyn
What are your favorites at Pomegranate Supermarket?
Please include grocery items that would be hard to find anywhere else, recommendations - meat, dairy, and pareve - from their extensive take-out department (as well as those things to avoid), baked goods, salads, cheeses, etc., etc.
Thanks!
Latest Las Vegas Updates?
Just returned from a trip to Las Vegas, and checked out the kashrut situation at Yaffa's "Wok On In"/"Kosher on the Go". Yaffa says that the restaurant is kosher, but is not under any supervision - implying that she cannot afford the supervision. Sad, if that is truly the reason that she lost the hashgacha. We chose not to eat there, and ate at Panini Grill, Jerusalem, and Adar Pizza during our stay. For Shabbat we had take-out from Smith's and Albertson's supermarkets. More details to follow.
Latest Las Vegas Updates?
OP here. In researching "Yaffa's Steakhouse" aka "Wok On In" aka "Kosher on the Go", I see that the supervising Rabbi, Rabbi Yakov Wasser of one of the local orthodox shuls, has withdrawn his hashgacha. There is a notice to that effect on the synagogue (iirc - Shaarei Tefilah) website; although Rabbi Wasser is still listed on the restaurant website.
Pretty much all the other Kosher restaurants in Las Vegas are under the supervision of the local Chabad.
Does anyone know whether this restaurant is now under another reliable supervision, or if there is a kashrut problem here?

MaTi, I highly recommend the salmon filet with grapes and potato pockets at Basil. It was really delicious!
Where to Eat, Shop, and Stay "Jewishly" Near Secaucus New Jersey
Just to let you know, Passaic does have an Amazing Savings, a kosher supermarket called Kosher Connection, several kosher restaurants, the Acme supermarket with kosher bakery and deli, and a Costco.
I do agree that there are probably nicer kosher food choices in Monsey and Teaneck.
Bored of Schnitzel
cheesecake17: Taking you up on your offer. Can you please share the recipe?

The salmon filet with grapes and carmelized garlic, with a side of potato packets served at Basil in Brooklyn. Delicious!
Trader Joe's Kosher Specialties?
I was interested in those fancy sea salts, but don't think that I saw a hashgacha. Do you know if they have one? I was particularly interested in the smoked salt.
Trader Joe's Kosher Specialties?
My local Trader Joe's has finally opened (Staten Island, NY); and though I had planned to print out your recommendations to take to my first visit, I forgot. The place was very crowded, and it was a bit overwhelming to search so many unfamiliar products for hechsherim, so I do hope to return - list in hand - right after Succos.
If anyone has any additions to the suggestions already given, I would really appreciate them.
Thanks!
Break fast
Honeydew, Bagels and Lox , and Haagen Dazs for dessert - our traditonal break-fast meal.
Best frozen lunch main course last day of a 3-day chag
I do a veal shoulder roast. I separate it from the gravy. You can slice the meat, wrap it tightly in foil, and freeze. Freeze the gravy in a separate container. Defrost it, and warm the foil wrapped package on the blech, far away from the flame, so it doesn't get too warm, or dry out. Let the defrosted container of gravy sit out to get to room temperature, and serve with the meat.
This can be done with any kind of a roast.
3 Day Rosh Hashana Vegetarian Menu?
Actually, as in pdxKosher's post above, Susie Fishbein's recipe calls for 1/3 cup, not 3/4.
3 Day Rosh Hashana Vegetarian Menu?
The Susie Fishbein Sesame Noodles, is a staple side dish in my house. Yummy! But, we use all the dressing, and add a little more sugar to taste.

Thanks for the update. After I posted my question, I checked and saw that, sadly, the JCC restaurant had closed. It's nice to see that there are some other options.
Are the prepared foods at Fairway - supplied by the former JCC restaurant owner - dairy, meat, or both?
ISO Frozen Peas (Not-Triangle K)
Have you checked with your guests whether they accept the OU and/or the CRC certification? If it's true that both those agencies (both pretty universally accepted hechsherim) say on their websites that frozen peas do not require hashgacha - doesn't that mean that they are basicly certifying any frozen peas, with or without hashgacha?
Eighteen Restaurant, Manhattan
Just checked out the website of Eighteen, mentioned on the Baby Shower thread. Curious to hear some reviews on food, service, ambience, etc.
Anyone?
Coffee Bean at Miracle Mile Shops/Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas
Is anyone familiar with the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas? Does this branch have salads, sandwiches, and pastries, aside from the drinks?
I'm familiar with the 2 branches at the Venetian, and the one at the Palazzo, but I specificly want to know about the one in Planet Hollywood. Also, can you describe where it's located within the Miracle Mile Shops?

New UWS Restaurant
Anyone try it yet? It's really got a nice varied menu. I really want to believe that they can pull it off well, despite PotatoPuff's pessimism.
I'm so eager to hear some Chowhounder feedback.

Moishefrompardes, you've sparked my curiosity, as any recommendation from you is high praise. I googled "Dovid Malka", and see that this is a caterer in Crown Heights. I hope I can figure out how to get there on a Thursday, or erev Shabbos to take home a sampling.
