Boy's Day Japanese Sweets Fair - Mitsuwa SGV Picked up some sesame and red bean mochi. Good stuff. $1.80 per piece. Not sure if it is also available at other Mitsuwas? |

A Useful Top 10 List--Hainan Chicken no Man Chan of Rowland Heights? (IMO closest to the Singapore version)... what disappoints me is the lack of boiled chicken liver and soy eggs options in LA. |

Best place for Char Siu, Roast Pork and Duck in SGV? and that might be me....i was waiting for some soy sauce tofu while they cut up the 1lb of pork. Would recommend skipping the tofu. wait..on 2nd thoughts..that's probably the guy after me..i got there at 1130 and some guy came in for that 1 lb order...so 2 lbs gone in 15 mins span. |

Atlantic Seafood and Dim Sum: Monterey Park did try the dim sum there earlier this year..will NEVER go back. Dim Sum Express is better 10x. |

Lunch combo is cost of ramen (various pricing, I think the Ox-tail and spicy miso are $1 more) and you can pick one item (out of a list..e.g., gyoza, fried rice, scallop/tuna/albacore rolls etc) for an additional $2.50. So about $10 ($7.50+2.50). I liked the rolls selection, about 8 count if i recall correctly. |

King Hua Restaurant (Alhambra) Dinner Review Reposting this again: Did not find a thread here about King Hua's dinner, so here's one. Scenario: 1. Craving for some good canto-influenced chinese food. What we ordered: 1. Sea cucumber with fish maw, chinese mustard and tofu. 2. E-fu noodles with mushrooms 3. Steamed eggplant special All 3 were EXCELLENT and we have very biased Singaporean taste buds. Desserts was the green bean soup which was thick and excellent (not the diluted type served elsewhere). In all, the price is worth it due to the high quality and fresh ingredients used. Not sure why this place is not more popular. The food was on par with some of the good chinese restaurants back in Singapore. Was sad to see it was not more busy on a Saturday evening. This will be our go-to place from now on for a good chinese/canto dinner. |

gonna try posting it one more time. oh, another tip for this place is to definitely sit at the sushi bar. Chef's english might not be good and is kind of quiet, but he does open up with recommendations after a bit. |

my bad..typo. I did post a pic and also posted a new thread about dinner at King Hua...but they were deleted by the mods? The ramen was good, they used the curly noodles which i like. Broth was not too overwhelming or oil. my only 'issue' was that they would not deep fry the Aji bones; but I think it was miscommunication -> the chef didn't speak english very well. |

Went on a second visit prior to posting a quick review here. 1st Visit: Feedback: For the price, unbeatable. Especially for the lunch combo. Ramen is pretty good and sushi is fresh. 2nd Visit: Feedback: Chocolate cheesecake is excellent. Again, the pricing WRT to freshness is unbeatable. I like the fact that I can have sushi and the kid can have ramen + dessert. With all selections being above average. Place had been open for 8 months according to the sushi chef. This might be my default lunch place if I am in the neighborhood if I don't feel like Shinshengumi. p.s. do not expect high-end sushi dining. 812 S Atlantic Blvd |

Farm to table vegetables were EXCELLENT. We ordered the Colorado Lamb Leg and Duck Breast. Lamb leg was too dry, sauce was excellent. Duck on the other hand...was very very good. Highly recommended. Not sure how do describe it..rare but not rare? Texture was to die for. Fat under skin was minimal..surprisingly good. Skip the 'left hand' menu and go with the daily fresh vegs...can't go wrong. |

New Bay Seafood Opens In Alhambra i did went for lunch today..probably won't go back as the food is pretty average. Had the steamed tilapia and bay special duck. wished The Kitchen (at its peak) was still around. |

New Bay Seafood Opens In Alhambra do they have lunch specials? |
|
|
Second time we visited the place. Neighborhood is definitely depressed with empty shop fronts. Lunch specials are definitely worth it. Sizes are excellent IMO for lunch....not the crazy Claim Jumper size. Tried 2 items today: 1. Hunan Lamb 2. Pig Kidney with Sesame oil and ginger All in all..an excellent lunch venue. Tried the steam tilapia previous and it was pretty standard/fresh. There are more interesting items on the menu to try. Hope this mom & pop (literally) shop sticks around. |

SGV update: Jackpot, Muse re-born Anyone tried Jackpot yet? Have very low expectations of their 'Laksa' hotpot..but am still intrigued by it. |
