New Years Eve in the Napa Valley

Are there any sort of fun New Years Eve parties at hotels or restaurants that you know of? What is the best place to eat that is somewhat reasonably priced, something less than $200/person.

Thanksgiving Reds

All right folks. . .what should we be drinking with turkey. Red wines only please. Any recommendations?

Frazier Wines

Has anyone had Frazier Family wines. I was in Napa for a wedding this weekend at the winery and really enjoyed their wines. We had an 05 Merlot and and 03 Cab that were tremendous. I don't know the price point on these wines but were showing much better than some of the 05's and 03's that I have tasted. Their Merlot was outstanding and reminded me of a Bordeaux.

bar food in Napa

i don't believe they serve food there. A friend has been there and told me that it's very dark and uninviting.

bar food in Napa

I've been living in Napa for almost 1 year and have not found a good spot for bar food, particularly wings. I've been to Downtown Joes, which isn't good, so please don't mention this spot. Please help me, it's football season and there is seemingly nowhere to go to eat some good bar food and watch the game. Oh yeah, Silverado Brewing Company isn't bad, but what else is out there.

2009 Michelin Guide

does anyone know when the '09 Micheline guide for SF Bay Area comes out in stores?

Where is Walter Manzke

does anyone know where Walter is ending up? i would love to know because I am coming to the area quite soon and love his food. thanks.

Wine Country: Ubuntu or Bistro Don Giovanni for dinner?

Bistro Don Giovanni and Ubuntu are not in the same class by any means. Ubuntu is far better. More unique and creative food, while Giovanni and the same old stuff that you can find anywhere. Ubuntu serves the freshest and cleanest tasting vegetables you will ever taste. I do not suggest getting the tasting menu since this will be your first trip. Try a bunch of things and i guarantee you that you will leave satisfied. Everything is delicious. . .everything!

July Napa/Sonoma Trip

I wouldn't suggest Auberge for the food, only for the view, though you can find a view and atmospher just as nice elsewhere. From my understanding, Solbar is doing a nice job. Redd is a definite must try as is Taylors and Ubuntu. I suggest Ubuntu for dinner, the menu is a touch bigger and the atmosphere is quite unique. In Healdsburg, Bistro Ralph is good as well as restaurant Zin. I think you are right on with the wineries to visit.

sushi in Napa Valley

what's the best place to go for sushi in the Napa Valley?

Monterey/Carmel Dining Choices

Please sir, at all costs, avoid Peppers. There is no authenticity but if you're looking for "Mexican" food, visit Zocalo in Pacific Grove. Taste Cafe is a pretty decent choice, however, if you're looking for something different, try Melange on Lighthouse in PG. Cantinett Luca easily wins over Little Napoli. Better atmosphere and better food. One of the best things about Luca is their wine by the glass list. Please take my advice. Deetjens is an excellent idea for your Big Sur hike. Beautiful drive, hopefully the weather will be o.k., but the most friendly people working at Deetjens.

Bastide

anyone been to Bastide yet? going to be in L.A. next week and wondering if I should check it out.

Eastern shore recs

Coming back after being away for over five years. Looking for good crab soup, crab cakes, oysters, everything I think of in regards to good ol eastern shore food. Where should I go?

moving from California

I'm possibly moving from SF Bay Area and currently work in a Michelin star rated restaurant. I will likely be moving to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area and was wondering what the best restaurants are in the area. I'm not necessarily lookin for something to match a Michelin star rated restaurant. Thanks.

sushi in Japantown

who has the best sushi in Japantown? I will be there on Sunday.

Terzo

any thoughts on restaurant Terzo?

Bastide reopening

Has Bastide opened yet?

Passionfish. . .blah blah

Ate at Passionfish on Saturday and had a horrible experience. This is the second visit and will certainly be the last. Fish was overcooked, salad overdressed, service was not worth mentioning. Wine prices great, but that's it. With all these positive posts about Passionfish, one would think it was the best restaurant around. I've had better meals at the local Thai takeout.

sushi recs in Napa Valley

i'm looking for good sushi in Napa Valley for Monday. any recommendations. price is not an issue. Thanks.

Carmel/Monterey

I would never pick Pacific's Edge. The only good thing about Pac Edge is the view. The food at Bernardus and L'Auberge is much superior that Pac Edge. I would choose either of those two. TRUST ME!!

Miyuki sushi in Watsonville

Has anyone been to Miyuki in Watsonville? Is it worth driving from Monterey or can I find something better in the Monterey area?

sushi in Monterey County and closely beyond

Any suggestions for sushi in the Monterey area or close by. I've been to most in Carmel and Monterey but am looking for something more. Sushi Heaven is decent but overpriced and Akaoni is excellent but very expensive as well. Friends at work say Robata Grill in the Barnyard, Carmel is o.k., but appears to be more for tourists. Please help me, my sushi craving is reaching new heights.

Bouchee in Carmel

Upon looking at the online menu, everything sounds soooo good. Has anyone been recently and can give me an update. I'm visting the area next week and need a place to eat. I've heard some great things, and some not so great things.

east bay for lunch

i'm looking for a good place for lunch in the Walnut Creek, Concord area. Any recomendations?

Monterey's Tuesday Market

The Thursday Market at Monterey Peninsula College is much much better than the Tuesday downtown market. The Tuesday market is seemingly more of a social scene whereas the Thursday market carries much better produce and you will find stuff at this market that you have probably never even scene before.

Good Bakeries in Monterey Area

Parker Lusseau is easilty the best bakery in the area.

Review – Tico’s Breakfast & Lunch in Marina

Let me also support Tico's in every fashion I can. I've only been two or three times but it has by far been the best breakfast in the area, by far. The pancakes are light and fluffy as advertised, the potatoes are perfect, crispy on the outside and cremy on the inside. Tico is the man!

Dinner in Carmel [moved from SF Bay board]

I recommend L'Auberge Carmel for a super fine dining experience. Plan on at least 2-3 hours of multi-course beautifully presented and cooked food. Owner David Fink and Chef Walter Manzke also head up Bouchee restaurant on Mission in Carmel. Another good one. Some locals and most tourists like Casanova restaurant in dowtown Carmel for a quite "romantic" evening but the two already mentioned restaurants blow Casanova away.
