Flakey Tart - Atlantic Highlands.

My original experience with the flaky tart was jaw droppingly delicious. Their croissants, scones, quiche, everything top notch. Although very sadly I went on a sunday just before one o clock and there was only one lonely blueberry muffin which I gave a good home, but I had the strongest craving for a ham and gruyere croissant or something delicious and savory. There is always next time.

Bella's in Atlantic Highlands

I am absolutely in love with this restaurant. It has its downfalls, but when it is good it is great. My favorite is sunday brunch. My significant other and I always start brunch there with a bottle of their Astoria persecco and ask for oj on the side to make our own mimosas. The persecco adds a moussey texture and an elegance that is not seen with their house poured sparkler. Most times I have the chef prepare whatever he desires, which is in my opinoin the best way to dine because you see how a chef meets your challenge. Sebastian's preparations are always superb, I can't say the same for his assistant Paco who runs the kitchen when Sebastian is on leave. Do try the seared scallops with potato pancake, I usually supplement this dish with poached eggs because what better sauce is there than egg yolk?

Undici, Rumson

I feel the bar there is a great little place for a glass of wine, but my buck stops there. $8 per slice of cheese, even Restaurant Nicholas doesn't charge that much!

Thyme Square- Red Bank

I am a member of a small wine tasting group and we held our last meeting at Thyme Square. The theme was Rioja and the chef prepared an outrageous tasting menu to accompany including baked clams over and aromatic sea salt with bing cherries and foie gras, That really was only the tip of the iceberg. All in all the entire experience was superb!!

Monmouth County Rest. w/fireplace?

The new restaurant Undici in Rumson has a fireplace, more in the waiting area by the bar though. It is a great place for a glass of wine and some cured meats and cheese.
