Washbag Closes
At last, it's "over"-the food was over-priced, over-hyped, and the whole mystique was over-done. Take the money & run-time !!!!!!
What to serve with Salmon? [Moved from General Chowhounding Topics]
OH yeah !!! Dry-ish rice pilaf sided with green beans/garlic/Hoisin sauce. Creme caramel for dessert. Do not forget the champagne & chocolates for the dessert dessert.
A Simple Mind
There was a time when I wouldn't eat a ripe avocado without a crushed toasted sesame seed/sea salt mix sprinkled on each bite. There is a proper name for this sesame seed /salt preparation, but it escapes me momentarily.

Anthony Bourdain blogs about the Food Network...
The man is a self-promoting, greedy, 2nd rate chef with bad dreams about being washed-up in a couple of years. "Buzz" ain't brains, and Tony is only about the "Buzz".
Anthony Bourdain blogs about the Food Network...
Tony B. needs to show us that he can cook, rather than: 1. Eat, & 2. Write. The HST comparison is off-target as TB lived his gonzo life without writing it and HST never wrote about food, but lived a gonzo life. Glibness + ego does not = talent. In the land of Chow, ya gotta prove it on the plate.
Q: TV cooking/food programs you'd like to see
It would be great to see local chefs preparing menu dishes requested by diners in the restaurant. Read the description, follow the "check" into the kitchen, see the actual cooking people grab the ingredients and make the thing in real time. It would be a real education to see that "mis en place" including pre-portioned protein items get the "master's touch" and be carried from the kitchen out to the table. In some cases, the revelation that the pasta has been par-cooked, flash boiled to add temp. then sauced to order; all done by a grungy line cook in a baseball cap, while the "Chef" drinks wine with the select patrons out front, might be an eye-opener.
Mario Cancelled
The original greatness of Molto Mario was he, himself, cooking the recipes of unique and idosyncratic dishes. After three-(maybe ten)- times through each one, it was time (for the FN)to move ahead. Mario is too self-promoting not to be dreaming up something new.
Honeymooning in Napa/Sonoma - Looking for someplace special
Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa. Tell the reservations person you are honeymooning, will be arriving late, and want a quiet table in the corner. Drink only Champagne. Feed each other, by hand. Order 4 of the desserts, to go. Pay for the dishware or promise to return it on your 1st Anniversary.
Sophisticated & delicious non-alcoholic beverages? [moved from General Topics]
You gotta get "Izze"'s. Fruit juice with carbonated water. Several flavors: I go for the pomegranate. Mixes well, not sweet, available at Cost Plus or Target,

The Best Delivery Pizza in SF - FOUND!
Glad to see that Victor's is still making pizza-hounds happy. My kids "cut" their teeth on those crusts back in the 80's. The Anastasio family owned the place and were proud to be voted among the most popular places for years and years. I would opine that the best Victor's pie compares quite favorably with the best Topmmaso's pie, slice for slice.
Best Dim Sum In SF
Had a lunch with 8 in-laws last week @ the Yank in Rincon & was pleased to find the quality and consistency unchanged & excellent. Excellent customer service and validated parking. Koi Palace serves over-rated, and over-priced mediocrity. Ton Kiang is tasty, but un-generous with regard to portion size.
