Bastide or Lucques?

Ok between Ortolan, Providence and Sona. Hands down Sona! You get the complete package, what a great experience.

Well...I have to disagree. The food/wine were outright BORING except for the fried zucchini blossoms.
The pizza was cold and you couldn't substitute anything! Actually, it is written in their menu (about 3 times) NO SUBSTITUTIONS! All I wanted was no olives on my pizza not replace them with something else. Give me a f*** break! It wasn't like I was adding cheese in lieu of my olives. Also, what a boring wine list. My table tried four glasses of wine - all sucked. What a waste of $$$$$. Next time I try All'Angelo - I hear it’s excellent.

Looking for the Best Americanized Sushi in LA!

Don't bother with Sushi Dan - the food is horrific and it gets very loud.

Where to buy wholesale fish in LA?

Hi All - Does anyone know where to buy fish wholesale (open to the public) in Los Angeles? I heard of a place in Glendale but can't recall the name. Happy Holidays!

Fraiche in Culver City

Ditto! What a great food experience! There are only a handful of places I can honestly say are excellent. I had the pumpkin soup with marshmellows - WOW!!! Yummy! Only negative is the owner (manager?) is kind of rude.

Best Wine List

1. Cafe Stella in Silver Lake by far has the BEST wine list (for the price) in Los Angeles. I'm sick and tired of going to restaurants and seeing the same wines over and over again. What I'm looking for is an experience - this is what Stella is all about. Last week I was there with clients and we had a remarkable bottle of wine. It was a Bordeaux biodynamic/organic called Chateau le Puy. Wow! The manager told us to order this wine with such passion that we could not refuse. He explained that this family has always been biodynamic (for hundreds of years) and you can TASTE it!

2. Rustic Canyon Wine Bar & Kitchen in Santa Monica - my local hangout! Great wines by the glass. Try the 2005 Zind Humbrecht, Gewurztraminer by the glass. Other top picks: 2006 Peter Michael, 2004 Rebourgeon-Mure 1er Cru, 2005 Domaine Vieux Telegraphe, Chateauneuf d p.

3. Little Door on 3rd Street - great food both in the main room and the Little Next Door. Good mix of small producers and hard to find wines.

Dinner in Pasadena on Dec. 31?

I would stay away from your list above. For a food and wine experience you must try Madeleines Restaurant & Wine Bistro:
1030 East Green Street, Pasadena, California 91106

Looking for the Best Americanized Sushi in LA!

In West Hollywood try:
Ari Ya Sushi
8730 Santa Monica Boulevard.
West Hollywood, CA 90069.
310.854.6212

They don't have a list of wacky rolls, just excellent sushi for the price. I've been going there for several years (formerly Murakami) - nice people, great atmosphere, real down to earth, indoor and patio seating. Often you'll find a A list celeb sitting at the sushi bar. Recommendations: Murakami roll, crab & scallop spring roll, and their sushi is super fresh.
I would stay away from Katsuya in Hollywood - expensive and valet is $15 with validation! Snobby, food is average. If you are going to pay that much then you are better off going Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills.
