VT Eater's Profile

One night in ABQ

We are spending the last night of our vacation in ABQ before heading home to VT - and were hoping to have one last really good send off dinner. Am interested in local foods that are clean and bright. We'll eat any style as long as it is well prepared. Less interested in ambiance - more interested in quality. Any suggestions?

Best food near Stowe, Vermont

Don't miss Hen of the Wood. They also run a great deal on Mondays if you are trying to save a few $$$

Must Try Restaurants Within an Hour of Hanover, NH?

Burdicks for sure - we like Pane Salute too. A little further but worth the ride in Hen of the Wood (Waterbury). Also for a real treat check out The Inn at Weathersfield

Maryland & Delaware Crab Shacks?

I searched the boards for some recent info, but no luck - sorry if this is redundant.

We are traveling up the coast (from FL) the last week of April and will be passing through MD and DE on the way to the Ferry to NJ. We'll have one maybe 2 nights at the most. Looking for the best place for crab - and will soft shells be in season yet?? Want to avoid the city - we would prefer a dive/great food over atmosphere/average chow.

Also - if soft shells are in season any preferred spots to purchase live?

Marco Island for 4 Days in April

This is great info - Little Bar and Pelican Bend are both on the 'for sure' list. I see mixed info on Snook Inn - Tourist trap or good? This is the first info I've seen on Rod & Gun Club, but I like the sound of it.

Marco Island for 4 Days in April

I've read most of the boards - so will try not to be redundant. Looks like Sushi Club for sure one night and Little Bar looks like a hit for lunch? We are staying at the Marco Ocean Resort, so we'll do Sale e Pepe one night (meeting biz associates)

Looking fro recos for best oysters and cold beer (no need to be fancy) and any other good hole in the wall. We live (and own a restaurant) in land locked Vermont so we are all about the fish. We really like to support chef owned places and places that buy from local farms.

After Marco we'll be driving to the east coast and north up the Atlantic to get home - hitting Outer Banks etc - that's a whole other posting....

All ideas welcome.

Late Night Chow - Pioneer Square Portland

Will be arrivng at Monaco Hotel late evening (10ish) on a Wed night. Any suggestions for a good bistro or burger within walking distance?

Oregon Coast Fish & Chips/Oysters

Thanks all - will for sure check these out and give a full report!

Best food in Manchester, Vermont Area

There are lots of places...Check out Bistro Henry or The Perfect Wife

Upscale or almost upscale near Ascutney Mt. Vermont

Inn at Weathersfield is about 11 miles form Ascutney - they have both a 'casual' tavern and more upscale dining room. Chef's 5 course tasting menu is great. Lots of local food and nice atmosphere

Central Vermont Dining

Pane e Salute for sure - stick to the apps and pizzas - just awesome and a great wine list too!. Also go south to Inn at Weathersfield - local food - lots of good press - dont miss it.

Oregon Coast Fish & Chips/Oysters

I've read some older threads on this subject...but would like to reopen for debate. Am looking for the 'ultimate' fish and chips on the coast between Yachats and Nehalem. Also best places for oysters. No need for ambiance - just the chow. Will be there in April for a few days.

Vermont-looking for inn with great food

Check out The Inn at Weathersfield in Perkinsville (just south of Woodstock). Excellent restaurant and very comfortable rooms. Great wine cellar and their chef has won all sorts of awards. They focus on local foods and really do it right - the 5 course tasting menu is great. Also The Inn at Weston - rooms are more 'posh' than Weathersfield - they have a new chef (and I haven't eaten there recently) but they have a solid reputation.

Spring 2008 Trip to Oregon

We are planning a 2 week trip in April to Oregon We are going to visit some wineries (in the interest of full disclosure we are in the restaurant business) but also want to find some good dining and lodging. We like to stay out of touristy places and prefer smaller spots with a live chef in the kitchen. Local and clean food is a priority whenever we can find it. Open to any and all suggestions/itineraries.

Top Foodie Destination in New England?

If you happen to find yourself in Southeastern VT - check out The Inn at Weathersfield in Perkinsville. You can spend a weekend there and have great food. The chef uses all local food and has won all kind of awards. Rooms are comfortable with some nice details. You wont be far from Woodstock - where Pane Salute (really good italian)
