Best Chinese Restaurant on the Strip?

Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast is the best for Dim Sum. Don't let the stupid name scare you away. You can catch a shuttle from Bill's to get there, or a short Taxi ride up Flamingo.

Favorite sushi

Salmon with just a little bit of lemon squeezed on top with or without rice. It is so difficult to choose a favorite.

Dungeness crab marinade and grilling tips (Split from San Francisco board)

Just boiled, plain with Best Foods Mayo. Pure and simple.

where can i find chinese hot pot (huo guo)?

Vic and Anthony's

Hugos in the 4 Queens is really old style Vegas. I always have the duck. Ladies get roses. Always nice.

Dining Options in Henderson

Todd's Unique is a good choice for dinner. Tommy's Hamburgers on St. Rose for a real experience for your stomach. Burgers have chili on them, a chain from L.A. Really good once in a while.

things we keep

Keep the postum if you ever want to tell the joke that follows, since many people don't know what Postum is anymore. The joke: A guy went to the doctor for an itch down there. The doc told him to get some soppositories and put them in the rectum, and told him to check back in a week. A week later he went in and said the itch was worse than ever. Did you get the soppositories and put them in your rectum? Doc asked. He replied, well doc, I did not know exactly what a rectum was but, I looked all over the house for some, I found some postum and put them in there, you know for all the good it did me, I could have shoved them up my ass!

What Food Thing Are You Currently Craving--Like Right Now!

Hydrox cookies, I miss them a lot! No Oreos for me! Safeway Tuxedos are close, but not Hydrox

36 hours in Vegas...suggestions/critiques of our itinerary please?

agree, buffet at Paris is not good anymore, used to be great!

Brand Steakhouse at the Monte Carlo- Anybody know about it?

Did not have the mac and cheese but it was very ordinary for steak. Many other place are much better. I did not like the casino view either.

The virtues of Doublestuff Oreos

For those who remember Hydrox, much better than Oreos, but disappeared through the years as the company was sold to Keebler's. They tried to introduce them again as Droxies, but did not use the original recipe. Tuxedos, Safeway's private brand taste like Hydrox and much, much better than Oreos.

Family loved Rosemary's, where can I take them now besides Todd's

When family visits we always ate at Rosemary's. We have been to Todd's, but they want something that was more like Rosemary's. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Looking for something old school downtown

If it is just guys, having drinks, talking and dinner, I would go to Golden Steer. Old vibe, decent food and it seems more like a guy type of place then Hugo's or the Flame

Need Ethiopian suggestions for Las Vegas

Queen of Sheba is at the corner of Flamingo and Decatur, same center as Richardo's Mexican on the corner. I used to work near there and only went in to look at the menu. They have many ethnic customers and you can eat inside or outside. Don't know about the food though. About 10 min from the Strip.

Foods with a laxative effect

Lol, I remember in the Army if you did not wash your mess kit really well, it was a wonderful laxitive, just not when you wanted it!

Circus Circus Garden Grill Prime Rib

The Steakhouse is the only reason to go into that place!!

Chick Fil A Coming to Northridge!

The chicken minis for breakfast are wonderful. A mini honey biscuit with a small nugget of chicken.

Bagel Cafe Las Vegas

I always spend a bundle when I go in there for food to go. Last time was a dozen bagels, that is all I went in for. I spent $63.00. I call it my Jew food run, lol. Hand sliced Nova Lox, really good, thin sliced, much better than just plain old lox. Got a pound of corned beef, 3 Matzo balls, I make Liptons noodle at home just like mother used to make. Some potato salad. Some Rugala, and 2 kinds of cream cheese. I slice the bagels and freeze them. I eat a half at breakfast with tea. Good place to go.

Those you know who actually only "eat to live"? [from General Topics]

I actually have more fun eating now. Living in Vegas, there are so many places to eat. By keeping my weight under control with what I eat, I can splurge when I want to and not worry about it. We went to a buffet for Easter today. I do buffet's maybe 4 times a year, not my favorite, but I wanted some lamb and ham, so where else can you get a combo like that.

Is my mother the only one who still makes homemade gefilte fish?

I remember my mother making it from scratch when we were growing up. I think it is because she loved to eat the fish heads, which I thought was gross. Her famous Matzo ball soup was usually Liptons with her Matzo balls, some soft, some hard to please everybody.

Those you know who actually only "eat to live"? [from General Topics]

I am 68 and was a big eater all my life, loved going out to eat at the best places. I weighed about 225 and 5-10. My wife had a brain tumor (not cancer, thank God), and was hospitalized for 6 weeks and several operations. We lived in Las Vegas, but the surgery was done in Seattle WA. Spending 6 weeks eating hospital food, I lost my taste and fascination with food. I was eating only to stay nourished. My weight over that year dropped to 155 and has stayed there ever since. Today, I am very healthy, my wife is still recovering but better all the time. I still have very little interest in food. I might eat twice a day. I had cut out all red meat. My doctor told me I was anemic and should eat red meat. I thought I was being super healthy not eating it. So, I ate about a pound of hamburger a day. Did it on the Bar B Q. Not anemic anymore. I can be happy eating Kraft Dinner, or going out to one of the superstar chef places here, when relatives visit. I eat to stay at 155 and can eat whatever I want to. The other day I ate ice cream every meal. Next day I wanted a Big Mac. Day after that, we went out to a great steak place. It makes no difference to me. I think my wife's brain tumor was a wake up call for me. Stay healthy enough to take care of her is my priority, not what I eat.

Why is Rosemary's such a yo-yo place? Good-bad, hate it-love it, good sometimes, awful next time

Maybe awful is too strong, but we have been there nights when the service was really bad, one time it took two and a half hours to get finished, too many long gaps between courses. Other times the food was just not up to par.

Order your eggs "basted" and they will come out really nice, solid white with lots of yolk. OE is always too loose for me and OM you take your chances.

Why is Rosemary's such a yo-yo place? Good-bad, hate it-love it, good sometimes, awful next time

What is it with this place. I have dined there probably 20 times and posted good and bad on this site. It is very inconsistent. I wonder why? Maybe the owners are not there certain nights, maybe they have a turn over problem in the kitchen, it is just the luck of the draw if you hit it on a good night. Any thoughts?

Tried Five Guys--What's the big deal?? [moved from Las Vegas]

Not a minus, I just like the way In-n-Out puts theirs together. I would just say that if the two chains were near each other, I would not go to 5 Guys. Every chain is different, all of them are near my house except 5 Guys and I do go to all of them once in a while, so I am not an In-n-Out snob by any means. I even get a Big Mac attack about every couple of months, lol.

Planet Ho was formerly the Aladdin, did you mean that? I heard the Buffet was not bad there.

Vegas (mini) Report: Bradley Ogden

Would you share that Ceasar Salad recipe?? Thanks

Tried Five Guys--What's the big deal?? [moved from Las Vegas]

I thought the meat was good too. That was the only thing, oh, the peanuts were ok too!

Cookies from the 80s???

Safeway private label cookies called Tuxedos, taste just like Hydrox used to. Hydrox was the original and Oreos came along later. Hydrox were always better than Oreos. Too bad they had such a stupid name.

Disappointed with Rosemary's

Unfortunately for Rosemary's it can be hit or miss. We go there quite often and one time it is great and the next time we swear we won't come back. Went to Todd's the last time out and I wanted short ribs which is one of their specialties and they were out. I had the fish, it was so-so. Guess it's back to Rosemary's for another try.
