May want to add a Marisco's Truck for baja fish tacos, a good truck is 2 blocks up from Super Cocina. Might want to search for Happy Hours, mostly a good value, lots of places with half price apps. There are good brew some houses in North County:

Iron Fist Brewery in Vista

I'm suggesting that you and your friend may be an easy target for out of town visitors or some locals who may be trolling. You probably need to be part of a larger group when clubbing downtown. There's safety in numbers.

You were in the heart of the tourist district, Gaslamp, probably not the best place or choice if you were looking for something a bit more tame.

For me, it's not about bulk but, rather 'unit cost' for the quality of their products. You'll be surprised the price difference from regular super markets. I also save .10 per gallon on gas. Over the years, I have purchased computers, tv's, tires, small appliances etc and saved hundreds. That's money in my pocket for other uses.

I have eaten there several times over the years, I found the meats to be very salty and they had no distinct flavors. The salad buffet bar has good selections.

I agree, the patio at B&C is wonderful with interesting foot traffic.
Finally -- a Dunkin' Donuts in San Diego...
Both places have their nitch and customer base, look at how they sell each day. It's just not my nitch! I'll stay with Bird Rock Coffee Roasters.
