San Diego New Places Opening Thread Numero Tres.

Personally, I've never gone to a restaurant to admire the curtains, or chairs. However, I do get your point about getting the view with the comforts of a seat and table. I have the expectation that the establishment will offer a good product. Hopefully, the new chef etc will deliver!

I believe BC makes a good point and I trust her judgement based on her past experiences 'cus personally I don't know. For me, I feel more comfortable say for 'short money' the down side of an app is less painful, money wise, than a full blown entree. As for the drink part, see FN's post, makes clear sense.

I don't need a restaurtant for a good view, I can get a good view with a folding chair in the trunk of my car and sit in the same vicinity with great bay views. If I'm going to a restaurant, my minimum expectations are decent food and drink. I believe BC made that case clearly by saying get and app and drink but, stay away from entrees'.

Best non-chain American style steakhouse?

Apparently, that was LisaSD's experience at CS, why not tell about it whether it's once or several visits.

Dive Bars..San Diego

Well BC, you could take the Water Taxi over to Coronado and go to Island Sports & Spirits on Orange Ave. Kevin, the owner, offers a great burger and has happy hour 7 days a week. Sorry, no tofu there!

I think Pinnacle has to be put in context. It's a family style restaurant where you can get a good, not USDA Prime, cut of steak in a frugal setting for a reasonable price. They never claim to be anything more.

Correct RB, the LJ Brew House wasn't brewing. IMO, just a meh place serving meh food. Nothing jumped out on their menu nor their taps. I like where it sits but, there is a lot of similar competition close by. I'd recommend the new management ditch the LJ 'tude and dumb LJ 'we're located in the pricey village so we can charge outreageous prices' and get something worth going there for to just possibly created a customer base.

Do you happen to have a 'Man Bag' that goes with my outfit? Funny, on the dive bars, I just saw that Night Owl has a new addition to it's name, Night Owl Cocktails, how's that for classing it up!

No great loss, went a few times just out of giving them more than a few chances. It's a good location, hope a nice brew/gastro pub goes in with some awesome offerings.

Had the lambs head at Aqui, still tame compared to organ offal. Ever eat at Encanto in SF?, Constantino's place, he takes offal to the next level.

Although I like Pinnacle Peak, it's a chain, same for Donovan's. Where is our beloved BC, I'd enjoy to hear her chime in on this meaty subject.
