THIS Saturday Night - Group Res - Foodie Restaurant

food at cave vin is very good. service is a little hit or miss though

Recs for Sanctuary

Going to sanctuary for the first time this weekend with wifey.

Any good recent recs?

Wifey birthday dinner

Looking for options for wifey's birthday dinner. Looking for a very nice, classically prepared meal with excellent service. Opten to any cuisine except asian

La Belle Vie is at the top of the list , any other recs?

Butcher Block Rec

some of my favorites

pork and rocotta meatballs

Carpaccio

rigatoni with truffle sauce

capellini with shrimp

Donut Cooperative

I agree. They are definitely going in the wrong direction. They are making e biggest mistake new restaurant can make. They have too many many options and aren't great at any one of them.

They need to simplify find their four best donuts, make those well and then expand slowly.

2012 Minnesota Burger TDL

my list

1) V44...
2) Anchor with Irish Cheddar and Egg
3) 112
4) Redstone Kobe Burger (Even though its off the menu temporarily)
5) 5-8 Club... need to have a juicy lucy on there

i also like vincent, but i would argue that it isn't a real burger

Authentic Chinese?

surprised noone here has mentioned Ming Wok in Excelsior (i think). Family-run, incredible service and a staff who is very willing to customize any dish for your spice pallet. If you can't find what you like, you can always order off the menu.

Also a big fan of Little Szchuan. Seeing lots of negative stuff here but has anyone on this board eaten there in the past 3 months?

What's missing from MSP's culinary landscape?

my 2 cents, mostly around asian.

- higher end thai with some french influence-- like Aruns in Chicago or Buddakan in Philly
- hole in the wall cheap pasta focused italian -- like pasta bowl in chicago
- High end Chinese, similar to Wing Lei in Vegas

One night in Salt Lake City...

Hey everyone.

Minnesota hound here. Spending one night in Salt Lake City tomorrow.

Dining solo... Any recs for a good meal while in town? Generally up for any type of cuisine. Would prefer something regional and/or seasonal if possible

Thanks,

Mark

Donut Cooperative

Sounds great. Where is it?

Take out Thai, S. Minneapolis/Richfield/Bloomington?

we like Sawatdee on Lyndale. its good not great and a pretty good value. I recommend the green curry, one of the best i have had.

Alinea reservation

Hey all,

I'm a Chicago hound who loves to visit Chicago.

Whats the latest on getting reservations for Alinea. Do they still only book 3 months out?

Am planning a trip in the spring and want to make sure I know what day I need to mark on my calendar to get reservations.

Thanks,

Mark

Restaurant Rec for Parents

Hey there,

Im a hound for Minneapolis and am looking for a recommendation.

My parents live in central virginia (C-ville) but love to go to DC for long weekends. They are also foodies as well. I am looking to get the a gift certificate as a Christmas gift. Any recommendations? I sent them to Inn at Little Washington a couple years ago and they loved it.

They are open to any type of cuisine except seafoods.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Need a good takeout place in southwest subarbs, even in the Edina area.

Ming Wok in Excelsior; best Chinese in the ara

Butcher Block Rec

just came by... wow, just wow.

Not sure how this restaurant is not at or the near the top of everyone's lists. I've eaten at all of the Minneapolis "top 10" restaurants and this one beats them all.

There was not a bad dish on the menu; everything had incredibly fresh ingredients and was well and simply.

I had the gnocchi caprese and chicken parm.

Wifey had the octopuss and rigatoni. All were as good or better than any similar dish I have ever had. Also, all of the portion sizes were appropriate and not overwhleming

For dessert I had the lemoncello tiramisu and wifey had the chocolate torte. The Torte was incredibly rich paired well with a sweet raspberry sauce. The tiramisu was light and fluffy with a nice kick. Almost like a ultra high end twinkie

all in all the best meal ive had in some time.

Victory 44 Recent Hits/Misses?

the pork shrimp banh mi was incredible. Chicken and biscuits was very good as well.

Only disappointing item i have had was the hangar steak.

Butcher Block Rec

Date night with wifey this Saturday. (The first in a long time). Are finally making a trip to Butcher Block in NE Minny.

Any recommendations or things to avoid?

already heard from many that the gnocchi is some of the best.

Fried clams

have a craving for some. Anywhere decent in the metro and please don't say the restaurant at minnehana falls.

Scott Pampuch leaves Corner Table

I somehow doubt this will be Scott's only job.

Also, managing multiple menus/kitchen at a private club is a much more family friendly job than managing a restaurant. With the exception of big events, it is a 9-5 job.

Also, if you look at the country club economics, banquets are the key profit driver. The competition for high-end wedding is fierce. If adding scott enables Minnesota Valley to secure 2-3 more wedding in a year, he will have more than paid for himself

Soul Daddy

I hope at least that they gave Jamawn the right to use the Soul Daddy name and likeness and didnt force him into a non-compete

Victory 44 for brunch/lunch

Never been to Victory for sunday brunch/lunch before? How different is the menu from dinner? Also is it ridiculously crowded on the weekends?

Thanks

pollo campero is south st. paul and nothing i have seen is even close

Soul Daddy

the waffle was the only thing outstanding on the menu; pulled pork was good; everything else average or worse. no way i would ever good this place over brasa (for basically the same price)

52 Hours in Minneapolis – Best Late Afternoon Meal? And Itinerary Review

Alma's always has a very regional and season menu. IMO, it is generally much better in the fall/winter than the summer. I would definitely add BLG to your list over 112

Lobster Rolls in Twin Cities?

Are there any decent ones? i know its probably a fools errand, but if anyone can find one, its this board.

Huevos Rancheros in Twin Cities
