Old town Folsom has a number of wine bars too BTW...... Old Town Folsom rocks really. Especially becoming way more chow oriented with Bistro La Petite moving from Granite Bay to oFolsom. Samule Hornes tavern has 22 rotating micro brews (a beer geeks paradise) lots of rare bottles and the best 10 dollar food in the Sacramento area (Jacks Urban Eats and Rubicon Brewery are close). Chicago fire Pizza is raved on by most (not by me however) and Pizzeria Classico is pretty great. Some good coffee places on the street too. Even the Hotel which ahs for decdes, had trouble keeping the kitchen open is offering pretty quality food now. The hacienda Del Rio is great bar for margaritas and happy hours but is too much non authentic for my tastes when it comes to food.
Lakeside Liquors (Douglas and Auburn Folsom Road) is a great wine and beer store. Very knowledgeable, tastings and great selection of wines and microbrews.

Actually Jimboys is not really inside the Denio's Auction but across the street on the corner so you gotta leave Denio's. Some dispute year ago prompted them to leave after about 40 years inside.
The tacos at the Auction are way better than the Jimboys tacos outlets around town. They only cook toacos at the auction where at the other outlets they cook a full line of mexican foods and the taste is just different.

In Rocklin: The Golden Dragon is the best Chinese in the area.
Granite Rock grill has the best breakfasts in the Sacramento area. Pacific Street and Rocklin Road
The High Hand Nursery in Loomis is pretty incredible. Great room, great pizzas, deli, just one of the best places in the entire Sacramento area to hang, eat, visit....

Grass Valley/Nevada City Recs
The chinese place at Brunswick Basin is great. Asian Garden.
Kanes is great in downtown Grass valley. Mostly Italian but always delish.
In Nevada City try Matteos. For the money the best in the county. All housemade, local ingredients great beer selection etc..
Folsom: Sutter Street Updates (huge news!)
Bistro La Petite , formerly in Granite Bay has moved to Sutter Street in the restaurant half of The old gaslight building, upstairs.. (The other half is occupied by Lockdown brewery).
They are opening on Thursday May 3rd and this is huge. Easily the best dining on the street ever. If they are anything like the Granite Bay location, this will be a destination for dining. Seriously incredible food. And the building, with a patio that overlooks Sutter street will be amazing too.....

Also the person running the restaurant in the Folsom Hotel is doing some good thing with grub food. Looks like they might finally have a stable operator there.
Lockdown Brewing has no food just house brewed beers and live music.
Peter Yagers is no more. Again.
The Steakhouse is amazing. High quality steak house fare without the Ruth's Chris?Mortons price line. Really great happy hour too, the sliders are amazing.
Grass Valley/Nevada City Recs
Kane's (Grass Valley) is pretty good.
Diego's is AMAZING.
Matteos in NC is really good.
Villa Venezia in Grass Valley has the most adventurous food in the area.
Cafe Mecca has the best coffee ever. Summer Thymes is great for coffee and so is Caroline's. Flour garden bakery is really good too.

Best Burger & Fries in Sacramento
Tahoe Park, 13th avenue. Gotta check that one out next time I am out that way...
Folsom recommendations needed
On Sutter Street try Sam Hornes Tavern. excellent moderately priced food. 20 rotating taps of craft beers.
or Bidwell Street Bistro which is amazing. Pricier, but a great dining experience.
Then there is Sutter Street Steakhouse which is high end steaks like Ruth's Chris (Not quite that expensive though)
And the older people love Old World, I haven't been but people, always older, rave on it.
I don't ever go past Natoma Street so I don't know what all is up by the college outside of chains (Mimi's Olive garden, Black Angus). I know FATS is incredble. Spendy but worth it IMO...
RIP: Jolly Burger (Citrus Heights)
Lou's Burger is the one down the street. And compared not even close.
Jolly might have had a bad day there but they are far superior to Sams (Lou's).
Jolly used Neiman Ranch beef, fresh ice cream and had inventive specials like the chicken tacos, or the pulled pork sand. But they could never get away from being a frosty...
RIP: Jolly Burger (Citrus Heights)
What a shame. These guys really tried to make this place a place for fine food but, it just didn't happen. Shame. Neiman ranch beef, the best pulled pork ever and the usual frosty items. So sad.
Nice effort though to bring some great food to the area instead of the usual blase food round these parts.
100 things you should eat before you die- sacramento
FOLSOM: Samuel Horne's tavern: the peanut butter burger and the bleu cheese/bacon fries.
This foodie just moved from NYC area to Sacramento and needs help!

Roma Pizza on Folsom Blvd. Best NY style pie in the area.
Chinois City Cafe (Watt and Fair Oaks) is great chinese food, cooked with very unique recipes.
Also on the Chinese front. the Mandarin is my favorite in the area. By Whole Food, Arden and Eastern.
The Flaming Grill (El Camino and Bell(?) has exotic meats, great burgers and excellent beers.
For good, and cheap, Mexican food, try the taco trucks (one at El Camino and Howe) and the places that are "ertos" or Carolinas. Great quick mexican food. Huge burritos etc...

The burgers are great, all of the food is outstanding. They have a chefs special that is usually incredible, not found on the menu, and is also around ten bucks.
