In Rome over christmas

My girlfriend and I are spending christmas in Rome. To be more exact, we arrive on Dec 23rd and leave again on the 26th. People tell us that we should be making reservations but in the myriad of restaurants and all the associated advertisement webpages it is not a completely trivial exercise to seek out good places. We thought about starting simple on the first day, have a romantic yet relaxed (birthday) dinner on the second and go all-in on the last.

Would the following programme seem sensible to the experienced Roman?

I should say that we will be staying more or less on Piazza Navona and that we plan to try and catch a midnight mass, although it may not be at St. Pietro.
