Gluten-Free

It might be a drive for you, but we recently just tried Melodia Grill in Souderton, pa. (http://www.melodiagrill.com/)

They have a really great menu and our food was delicious. Their food is all organic and they have a great gluten free section.

Good luck!

Melodia Grill in souderton

My husband and I stopped by Melodia Grill last night on a way to a meeting we had near Souderton. We were not expecting much, but were very pleasantly surprised. There is nothing in or near Souderton so our expectations were beyond met when we walked into this restaurant. Granted, it was a Wednesday night, so service might be much slower on a busy Friday or Saturday - but the service was excellent; the food was delicious; and the prices were reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised and will indeed go back.

Bucks County Seafood Opening in Dublin, PA

Does anyone know anything about the Seafood store opening in Dublin, PA, across from Lumbertos. Is it open yet? Is the Seafood Fresh? Worth a try or try to avoid?

Just Eat by Brown Gold - Never again

Maybe we had an off night - but we tried Just Eat by Brown Gold. Sorry, I know I said I would head to Lime Light this Friday, but we were looking for a BYOB. So - headed to Just Eat. The best thing about this restaurant was the server. He was cute and very attentive. The atmosphere and the food - no so much. We got there about 7:30 and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. They were playing this awful Jazz music - and not lightly in the background, but Blasting. We couldn't even hear each other talk. I had a squash soup that was mediocre. It had nice spice and a hint of nutmeg, but was watery. My husband had the vegetable pot pie. The server brought it out with oven mitts because it was so hot - which it was... Well the bowl was anyway. The inside was ICE COLD. We are not usually the "send it back" type, but this was too much. We just had to ask for it to be heated up. The server was really sweet about it and brought out a piping hot version on round two. The pot pie did have nice big chunks of squash and other veggies. It was ok, but did not knock our socks off. I had the Grilled Tuna Skewers. Again, it was just alright - two pieces, about a square inch each. Not too much flavor.
Like I said, maybe it was us or maybe it was a bad night for them, but I think it will be a while before we visit Just Eat again.

What BYOBs are you visiting in Bucks County?

Lime Light in Doylestown

From the Route 611 (Doylestown) bypass, headed NORTH from Warrington ... Exit at Route 313 Dublin, turn RIGHT onto Route 313 EAST (Swamp Road) toward Doylestown, go straight at the first traffic light, moving to the left lane, and turn LEFT at the second light, onto North Easton Road, follow to Lime Light on your LEFT, next to Altomonte's Market, in the shopping center just past Papa John's Pizza.

Copied the directions from the website. I think it is up near Tony Tomata's?
Will have to give it a shot this weekend :)

Good Salmon in Bux-Mont?

Not sure if this is the exact flavor you are looking for, but we really enjoy the "Fish Tikka" from Indian Garden in Yardley. The salmon is really flavorful and moist. It is also very fresh and does not taste "fishy" at all. We order it as take out and then bring it home and serve it with brown rice and mixed vegetables (to make it a bit more of a healthy meal). We also will eat at Indian Garden from time to time, and never miss ordering the fish tikka when we are there. Best of luck.

Grocery Stores - Doylestown Area

So we did it. We bought a house and moved from the lovely Yardley area to Doylestown. Still getting adjusted to the area.. but the biggest problem is where to shop. Admittedly we were spoiled with McCafferys right around the corner from us. But, we went from prepared food, coffee bar, and international/specialty food - to a very small grocery store that did not know what sushi was and did not have a fish counter! They also had local venison in the meat section... So help me please D-town people. Where are you shopping for your groceries!

Thanks!

Indian restaurant near Giant Yardley/Newtown?

We go frequently for dinner, as I have posted above. If you ever order a dish for lunch or take out, you can specify the spice. We always order Hot or Indian Hot. It really steps up the flavor and the heat.
Enjoy :)

Anyone gotten gift certs at Half Off Philly?

Hmmm. I have not tried it, but i am interested! Like you said, $25 bucks - great deal!

Don't cringe....Restaurant Week (Jan 25-30)

Went to Estia last Jan. during RW. Fabulous. Very similar menu.
Went with my sister. She had SAGANAKI, MOUSSAKA, and BAKLAVA. All to die for. I had SPANAKOPITA, LAVRAKI, and Greek Yogurt with honey. Loved it!

Awesome farmers markets in PA?

Has anyone mentioned Rice's Market?

Fusion Concerto Morrisville PA

We have also tried Concerto Fusion a few times. I would not recommend it if you have the option to go to Oishi.
After Oishi remodeled, my husband and I wanted to branch out and try something new. We heard about Concerto and decided to give it a try. The first time we went, we both had sushi. It was OK. It was not as great as Oishi, but it was presented well and the sushi tasted fresh. We must have caught them on a good night.
We went back a second time for my birthday and I had the snapper in a creamy curry sauce. It was alright. I was hoping this was a Thai Fusion dish - but the curry sauce was kind of lumpy and bland. It had no heat. I ate about half before completely giving up. Later that evening I became violently ill. We have NEVER been back since.

So if you will heading over the bridge to PA - take the extra few minutes and go to Newtown's Oishi.

Tea Room?

Thanks! Love the Lederach Tea House. The fam and I go every year for breakfast on Christmas Eve. This was our 20th year - always been a hit. :)

Tex Mex @ North Wales

Thanks Givemetomatos! I have not been to Tex Mex in years and just moved back to the general area. I am glad it is still a hit and plan on visiting soon! Glad you enjoyed!

Sausage Rolls, Bangers and Mash, Yorkshire pudding or Cornish pasty anyone?

Fantastic! Thanks fellow foodies! :)

Sausage Rolls, Bangers and Mash, Yorkshire pudding or Cornish pasty anyone?

Ok, I have posted this question before and got some great answers.... so I am putting it out there again if anyone might have new ideas. A great British Pub or even a tea room that serves proper food is hard to come by on this side of the pond. I am always on the look out.

Any suggestions for your favorites?

Have been to Tea and Sympathy in NYC and they were spot on!
So was A Salt and Battery - also NYC.

Shanachie Pub in Ambler is ok.

Lion's Heart Pub in Washington Crossing is ok for the bar - they do have some good beers, but the food is awful.

Someone suggested the Whip Tavern a while ago -- looked at the site and it looks fantastic, just have not had a chance to make it out that way yet.

Has Anyone tired the Ship Inn in NJ? http://www.shipinn.com/

Not looking for chains, just the real thing!

THANKS!

Tea Room?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a Tea Room? My husband and I have been to Tea with an Accent in Yardley and loved it - but we are looking to expand our horizons a bit.
Any suggestions?

Many Thanks!

Doylestown/Fountainville

Just moved into the area from Newtown. Been to a few restaurants in Doylestown, but what do you recommend as your faves?

Thanks!!

Where to eat in Newtown?

Grotto's food is not great. It has a fantastic bar and a really nice interior - but just stick to the bar food and not a full meal...
Garden Grill is over priced for mediocre food.
Oishi is awesome for Thai,Korean, and Japanese, but make sure to call ahead for a reservation
Isaac Newton's is ok. Great beer menu - average food.
Jules Thin Crust Pizza is pretty good for a quick bite.
Hope this helps!

Oh has anyone ever tried IL Sol Tuscan Grill in Newtown?

Tiger Shark Restaurant, Southampton, PA

Wow! That sounds fun and close by! Thanks for the heads up. I will write more after we go!
