I have been several times lately and I do not plan to return for dinning. They use their microwaves more than chickens eat bugs. IMHO, the place is good for cheap drinks and cheap seafood...but neither has and quality. |

Overall view of dining scene in Austin Thanks for post. Yes, I do agree with you, it's just the overall standards seem to be falling. |

Overall view of dining scene in Austin Folks, what can I say. I've lived here for 12 years. We have eaten out almost weekly since that time at many of the restaurants ever mention in Chowhound. We have raved about Austin food. We have had well executed dishes along with excellent service and ambiance in the same restaurant. Then we've had at least one of each in other places. One can really run the gambit from trailer food to high-end indulgences. |

Crab Place - on the Ship Channel 30 yrs ago Oh, I do remember going to the Athens Bar when I was young and dumb. It was a great time there. Really a place to party, but one always went with another couple...and, Shanghai Red's was so perfect for watching the ships and it did have good food. Jimmie Walkers was also perfect for watching the pleasure boats coming and going. Ah, the boardwalk before Ferttia. |
