Looking for the best smoked meat in Toronto
Stockyard on St. Clair and Christie has pastrami that is excellent. It is more often than not sold out but, despite the misnomer (pastrami?), it is awesome smoked meat.
The Stockyards Smokehouse & Larder
I had the "never available" pastrami this weekend. Simply pit, it is the best smoked meat in Toronto, hands down. Reminds me of The Main in Montreal (across from Schwartz's).
What happened to Massimo's Pizza ??
A place is opening on queen west near the Drake which claims (in a window sign) to be "formerly Massimo's Pizza on College".
South side of Harbord, just east of Ossington
Its called the Roxton. Quite good. check it out.
Recommendations for 14th, 5th, 6th & 7th
Brasserie Fernand on Rue Guisarde is a great little place. Its in a touristy area but lots of locals eat there. Simple and great!
Breakfast in the 6th?
Bar du Marche at Rue de Buci and Rue de Seine is excellent. Nothing special but great seats outside, croissants, cafe au lait, even omeletes and other hot food, great people watching. If you want to just buy croissants and walk around, walk back towards Luxembourg along Rue de Seine to Rue Quatre Vents (one block after St. Germain). Gerard Mulot has amazing croissants (and other stuff).
Stampede Bison Grill
Went to Stampede tonight and it was awesome. Bison burger was excellent, service was friendly and fast, fresh squeezed lemonade yummy delicious. Sat outside on the fantastic patio (altho no license yet). Didn't try the fries or poutine. Will definitely become a new regular place for this Parkdalian.
Diners/Greasy Spoons - what are your best recommendations?

New York Deli on the west side of Bay between Charles and Bloor.
