North Fork winery recs

Love these recs, but would add Corey creek, McCall, Clovis point

Greenport - Frisky Oyster or Farmhouse?

I like Noah's better than Frisky Oyster. Farm house is also good although I went when it first opened and they were working some kinks out. Jedediah Hawkins does an amazing price fix brunch.

What's New on the North Fork?

Has anyone been to Touch of Venice - it got written up here along with some others http://www.exploreli.com/restaurants/the-best-of-the-east-end-for-every-appetite-1.2218773

Greenport La Cuvee Wine Bar & French Bistro in the North Fork - anyone been?

I'm going out to the North Fork this weekend and was thinking of trying

La Cuvee Wine Bar & French Bistro

326 Front Street, Greenport, NY 11944
but I can't find anything on it on these boards? Anyone got an opinion?

thanks.

Long Island Wineries - where to go?

I have a vacation house in the North Fork and by far these are the most charming -

Roanoke (best rose)
Shinn (best red)
Croteaux (only rose - you'll feel like you're in Provence)
One Woman - very small
Bedel
Corey Creek

Definitely have lunch at Love Lane Kitchen and get the Lobster Roll.
Have fun!

Outdoor Dining With Dogs

the key is to find a restaurant that has outdoor seating with a barrier that's open - i.e. not a fence or a canvas.

You can take your dog to Barbuto and 10 Downing as long as you sit on the edge next to the open barriers.

visiting friend wants to see celebrities - where would you take her?

I need to make a reservation for next week for dinner with a friend coming in from SF. She wants to go where she might see famous people.

I was thinking spotted pig or waverly inn - but they are annoying because you never know if you'll actually get a table.

any other ideas?

thx
Michelle

Need NYE dinner tonight NOT Prix Fixe

- I always have this dream of going to a fancy party and it never happens
my friend had a lead on one, but now he says not happening and i have to try to find dinner reservations for 3
I want something in West Village, SoHo, MePa or Chelsea. I've been doing some open table searching, but I am against paying $100/head for what would usually be $40/head!

any ideas?

Holiday afternoon cocktail UWS

I live on the UWS - and the UES (where the met is) is much more decadent - I'd go to Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle on the UES

However - if you just want a nice restaurant with a bar on the UWS - try Nice Matin, Telepan, Northwest, Ocean

would you eat at the algonquin for dinner?

My parents are coming to town and we're doing cabaret at the algonquin. They have a dinner or just drinks option. Has anyone eaten there? is the food any good or is it boring hotel food?

Dad is Coming to Town - Need a few Swanky Spots

thanks all!

but what can I get resys at in the next 2 weeks? Don't you have to book Per Se a month in advance? I looked on Open Table no lunch reservations available for Per Se until 12/30...

I love Telepan - went there Friday, but it isn't grand enough for Dad.

I can get Picholine - is that better than Cafe Gray?

As I said - I want one Tribeca, one UWS/Col. Circle and one elsewhere (maybe UES or midtown).

What abour Le Cirque? Dad has money - so we are not looking to get a deal here.

Of course these all need to be spots where I can actually get a reservation. :-)

Dad is Coming to Town - Need a few Swanky Spots

Dad likes the formal - looking for more formal not less than Jean George.

Dad is Coming to Town - Need a few Swanky Spots

I hear ya on the Per Se - but no way I can get a resy in the next 2 weeks right?

Restaurants everyone loves--except you

fatty crab.

bleh.

I do love Telepan tho - had another great meal there tonight.

Dad is Coming to Town - Need a few Swanky Spots

I live in Manhattan - I'm normally a Little Owl, Smiths, Po - type of diner - however my father is coming to town from CA in a couple of weeks and he wants to eat at the fancy spots with all the pomp and circumstance. He loves extreme service and amazing decor. Last time he was here I took him to Mas and he didn't "get it" or like it. We need spectacular restaurants.

I've been scouring open table and have reservations

at
Chanterelle
Danube
Cafe Gray

However we are on the UWS and I don't think dad is going to want to trek to Tribeca twice - so which should I choose - Chanterelle or Danube?

As for the other night - maybe something on the UES or Midtown? How's the Carlyle? I've been to Cafe Boulud, but didn't love it.

He also loves a great view. last time he came he really liked Asiate. That's why I booked Cafe Gray, but it's sounding like that's too informal for him. Thoughts?

Also could use some lunch ideas - did Jean George last time and he liked that.
