Restaurant recs near Keller Auditorium?

Carafe and Murata are closed on Sundays.

Walking distance restaurants recs? Staying at California and Powell

Jai Yun sounds like a terrific recommendation. Thank you! There's not near enough Chinese restaurants (that are good) here in Portland.

I was looking at Daffodil which is close by. Will search for reviews here and Yelp, but curious if you know anything about it.

Cuisine hint: I'm a huge seafood fan, love fresh locally sourced produce. Great wine selection never hurt either :-)

Love them! Bring it on.

Thanks for the follow-up question from my last trip :-)

We didn't go to Frascatti after all, we ended up at Nopa which I didn't like so much, but I loved Perbacco and Serpentine.

I love good seafood, fresh veggies, local flavor.

I know SF has lots to offer, just wondering if there's a must-visit spot in that vicinity.

Will go to Serpentine again as I have not been there for brunch (not walking distance I know) and La Ciccia was also strongly recommeded which I have not looked up yet for the address.

Will be in SF for a weekend in November. Would love to walk most places. 15 minute walk is fine.
Looking for a good spot for am coffee and light breakfast, casual lunch, nice but not over-the-top dressy for dinner. Thanks!

Thoughts on Perbacco/Nopa/Serpentine from this weekend

ceekskat, you're welcome! Thanks to you and JasmineG for recommending Perbacco! It was perfect in every way.

bblukow, you're so not crazy. Serpentine deserves more love. It's a gem of a place. Fabulous drinks, amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and not outrageously expensive either.

Thoughts on Perbacco/Nopa/Serpentine from this weekend

Although, NOPA gets gobs of great reviews over on Yelp. I guess some people love the crazy noise and hustle and bustle of certain restaurants. I myself like to hear myself think! And the food like you said was good, but nothing over-the-top. I guess I was expecting to be wowed. Serpentine and Perbacco wowed me.

Thoughts on Perbacco/Nopa/Serpentine from this weekend

Perbacco:
My husband and I started our weekend at Perbacco, thanks to a Chowhound rec. So glad I asked on here. We loved it. The atmosphere was perfect. "Casual elegance" gets overused, but this place embodies that description. This place has excellent service. (ie: the water glasses were never empty and my napkin was neatly folded at the table when I got back from the restroom).

The food was amazing. The bartlett pear salad with marcona almonds was exceptional. The fennel and brussel sprouts sides were super savory and the butternut squash ravioli was heavenly. Very rich though so I'm glad my husband I split that dish! I would love to go back to Perbacco, and if it were in Portland, it would become a favorite spot.

NOPA:
I was really underwhelmed by Nopa. After reading all the raves, I expected a lot better. First off, it was really, really loud. Very difficult to have a conversation. The food was OK, but not amazing. My husband and I were much more impressed with Perbacco and Serpentine.

The highlight was the swordfish, the lowlights were the drinks (not so great) and the fries (don't go messin' up fries!). And then the little gems salad and the crostini were just good. I'd be heading back to Serpentine before Nopa in a heartbeat!!

Serpentine:
To start, I absolutely loved my drink, the Ancient Lemon, if I remember the name correctly. A twist on the Lemon Drop (which I love) but not as sweet. My husband said his Side Car was the best he'd ever had. Our table ordered lots to try: the Maple Roasted Pumpkin Salad and the Pippin Apple Salad which were both fabulous. I'd order them again in a heartbeat, can't say which one I liked better. The Chickpea Battered Calamari is a must-order if you love calamari (which I don't) but my husband does and loved/devoured them and even I found them really tasty. The House Made Potato Gnocchi was a freaking revelation. I would almost consider moving to SF so I could have that dish at least once a week. And the Fried Cauliflower....yes, I would eat theirs every day. The fries too were super good.

It's worth the effort to get your hind-end to Serpentine. The interior is beautiful and cozy, industrial yet charming. I loved it. And the service was excellent. I can't remember our server's name, but she was from Portland (like us) and she was terrific!

Fantastic! I'm so glad to hear that. I do have a rez indeed :-)

Thanks everyone! I'm gonna go for Perbacco for lunch. Got a rez :-)

Sticking with Nopa for dinner. Yay! Can't wait for my trip away with the husband to SF.

B44 for lunch and Nopa for dinner. Do you approve?

B44 close to the hotel (Pine and Powell) and we will have just gotten in from airport. Want a casual, leisurely place to eat lunch that has a hint of SF romance :-) Husband and I will be away from kids!

B44 for lunch and Nopa for dinner. Do you approve?

So I've narrowed down the choices to these two restaurants for Friday. We're coming in from out-of -town. Don't want super high end, or need absolute perfection. But want to steer clear if someone here has had a dreadful experience.

Thanks.

Lunch recs near Powell and Pine?

This looks really interesting, which spot is your favorite? B44 would be a great pick as my husband and I were in Barcelona 2 summers ago. Does that have a good reputation?

Lunch recs near Powell and Pine?

My husband and I will be getting in around 1pm this Friday and are staying near Powell and Pine. We're going to be hungry for lunch and I'd like to know where we're going to eat. I'd like a place that we can enjoy a leisurely lunch, have delicious food with a nice but casual SF ambiance.

Any ideas for lunch? Walking distance would be preferred.

We've also got a rez at Frascati that night. (That's what I came up with after research here and Yelp). My sister has also recommended Nopa. Any other thoughts for a not too sceney/hipster, but great dining experience? We're coming from Portland so we have high expectations in terms of fresh, locally sourced food. Thanks!

Lovely Hula Hands [PDX]

Sorry..should have been more specific! Lovely Hula Hands in Portland, Or. :-)

Need help with Portland, OR -- NW sector dining choices

I'd skip Silk. I second the Andina rec, as well as the Carlye rec for sumptuous indeed! Paley's is an institution here, as is Higgins. I personally prefer Higgins. It's not in NW, but PDX is small so I would expand your boundaries. I was dissappointed in Olea, and think Higgins, Andina, Carlye, and Paley's are far superior.
