Onion Skins in Homemade Stocks
I once heard that if you keep the skins on onions when using them in homemade stocks that it makes the liquid darker, and in turn, richer looking. Is this true? And if not, is there any benefit one way or the other to using verses discarding the skins and vice versa?
New Food Products
Maybe I wasn't clear on the original post. I am referring more importantly to the "market" as in food retailers. New and improved food products that are coming out or that you think should become available.
New Food Products
What are some flavors and foods that people are most anticipating and looking forward to eating in the market?
Eating with the Elderly in Rochester
I'm located in Rochester, NY and have plans to take my 95 yr old grandmother out to dinner. She can't see, can barely walk, and eats very slowly. Is there an easy place to take her out to eat? (preferably near Highland Park side of town)
Best Chocolatiers for Valentine's Day Treats
Thank you for all your wonderful suggestions. I ended up ordering from Jacques Torres because it's fairly close to my and that way I know the chocolate will be fresh. Plus I could order online, which made things super easy. I'll let you know how they taste once they arrive....
Best Chocolatiers for Valentine's Day Treats
I have looked into getting a boxed chocolate set for a special treat on Valentine's Day from Recchiuti, Jacques Torres, Payard's, and Kee's (which I don't know if she ships). Does anyone have feedback on these chocolatiers, or know of any others I am leaving out?
Greatest Super Bowl Dish
I have made great versions of chili and corn bread over the past 5 years or so on game day. Now I'm looking for something new and different as an addition to my traditional chili/corn bread. What's the most popular item (besides taco dip, buffalo chicken dip, and stuffed mushrooms) that has served people as a good standby for football fans and foodies?
Liquor as a Gift
Thank you for all the great suggestions. I think I might go with a Whiskey, Chartreuse VEP or Rittenhouse Rye.
Liquor as a Gift
My boyfriend is trying to "upgrade" his alcohol assortment. He recently spent $100 on a bottle of aged Grand Marnier and $75 on a bottle of single malt. He already has Hennessey and Courvoisier, Petron tequila, and lots of vodka and flavored liquors. What would be another luxury staple to have on hand that I could get for him to add to his collection?
