If you cut top of the rib (or brisket) against the grain, it will not be stringy. |

Restaurants near Metro Stations on Rt. 355? Every time I've been by there the chairs are on top of the table, the lights are out, and guess what, it is closed. When are they open? |

Why would they go into NYC and all that traffic when they could cross the Tappen Zee and take 84 across Connecticut? Now I imagine there are delis in NJ where they could stop and I know there is one right on the other side of the Tappen Zee. If anyone can recommend any of those, I am sure that we all will be pleased. |

costco stores sell liquor in maryland? I believe the Virginia Costco's also sell alcoholic products. Am I correct? |

Try warming Turkey pastrami in a microwave for a few minutes until it crisps up. Better than bacon. |

I;m pretty sure that Goldberg's only has Rockville and Silver Spring locations and I think that the bagels are only made in Rockville (although I could be wrong about the latter comment). There is a Goldberg's Bagels in Baltimore that is no longer related to the two stores in Montgomery County. As Goldberg's is a kosher establishment, you are correct that all three stores are closed for the Jewish Shabbat. |

Eataly To Open In DC During 2012 You didn't get the message that DC is no longer on the Eataly agenda (if it ever was)? |

Eataly To Open In DC During 2012 So in other words, no one really knows anything and anything that is written here is pure supposition. |

Do not "plan" on bringing any back until you check with the USDA and find out whether you will be allowed to bring it into the USA. |

Ate at the Potomac location at the end of August and was not particularly impressed. First, it was very noisy. Second, the bar menu was extremely limited which to me means that it was not well-stocked or had unaccomplished mixologists or both. The food was ok, but not great, although it was plentiful. Probably will not go back voluntarily considering the total experience. |

Greek Islands Grill - Silver Spring, Md Never had the buffet, but I've never had a bad meal there. |

"Sour cream" and you can "flavor with a smoked meat"? How is that kosher? |
|
|
@cantkick -- I suppose we were at different stores. I was at the Wegman's in Columbia where I found the variety of merchandise unmatched anywhere in the DC area except at other Wegman's and where the produce section presented a bigger variety of fresh fruits and vegetables than I have seen anywher than at another Wegman's at a quality beyond anywhere but at Wegman's. I do agree that the prepared foods are superior. |

Weekday Lunch between BWI & Rockville Turnpike Irene's moved to Layhill and Georgia replacing a Chinese buffet. It is right next to the Staple's. |

Of course it wasn't butter because all baked goods at Shalom (the market next to and owned by Max) are parve, i.e., have no dairy product. The same would be true of most, but not all, Kosher bakeries. Only those baked goods clearly marked dairy would contain a milk product. |

I believe thta Milwaukee Frozen Custard (several locations in Virginia) gets its mix from Wisconsin. |

Is there ANY authentic Mexican/Tex-Mex in Bethesda or Rockville? |

costco stores sell liquor in maryland? @Greg J -To repeat, Costco is not eligible for an alcohol license of any kind in Maryland. |

costco stores sell liquor in maryland? Costco stores cannot qualify for an alcohol license in Maryland. |

Old fashioned chewy dense bagels in Baltimore? I started eating bagels in the late 40s, early 50s in Brooklyn, and I agree that the Bagel Bin bagel is very good. |
|
|
Old fashioned chewy dense bagels in Baltimore? I guess I'm showing my age. When I grew up in Borough Park, a pumpernickel bag was unheard of and it was those bagel makers to which I referred. Today, there are all kinds of "bagels" to satisfy the masses and where would bagels be without Mr. Lender. |

Old fashioned chewy dense bagels in Baltimore? Pumpernickel bagels would embarrass a traditional NY bagel baker. |

Old fashioned chewy dense bagels in Baltimore? Sorry, a bagel made of multi-grain flour isn'r a BAGEL. |

The Calvert House on Rt 1 in Hyattsville used to be very good although its been many years since we ate there. |

A question about cooking kosher meat First, we cook brisket in a slow cooker, then we don't just let the meat cool, we refrigerate it until it is cold before we slice it. After we slice it, we freeze it separate from the liquid and then after defrosting reheat it in the liquid on the day we serve it. Its easy to slice and it comes out great. |

While it is true that the Kosher Board focuses on the NY area, other geographical areas including MD/DC/VA are addressed as well. |
|

Suggest you try the Kosher Board. |

We have a son who has a nut allergy. So we just make 2 versions of the same recipe one with nuts and one without. Leaving out the nuts doesn't change anything except remove the nut crunch. |

How about Revere, Winthrop, etc.? I get there every once in a while from DC. |

See my above comment where I noted that it wasn't my choice. |
