Would people here like more cooking shows, or more shows about food on the Food Network?

Personally, I've only occasionally picked up good recipes from TV shows. What blows my mind is how people could follow recipes back in the days before VCRs (or of course, TiVo)!

Korean & Korean BBQ

I don't know much about Korean food (yet)! Do all Korean restaurants offer BBQ, or are some places that offer items that come already cooked?

Second question: What's the best Korean restaurant in L.A.? And/or who is the best chef?

where can i get HAZEL NUT paste?

Have you tried the Farmer's Market?

There's a place there that grinds nuts, and I've seen almond and cashew for sure, in addition to peanut. They might have hazelnut too- I just wasn't looking for it last time I was there.

Is hazelnut spread part of a specific ethnic cuisine? I only know of Nutella too, which is Italian, right? If anyone knows, please let me know here: Thanks!

juicing a watermelon?

Oh, my FAVORITE juice in the world is a combination of watermelon and pineapple, done in a juicer. To juice just watermelon by itself, you'll get a pinkish watery liquid that's mildly sweet (like watermelon is).

Saturday Exchange With FoodTV Executives

In an ideal world, would people here like to watch food shows to learn to cook, learn about food, or just be entertained by shows that are food-related in some way?

Personally, I have never in my life watched a cooking show and then made the dish (I can't even imagine how people used to do it in the days before VCRs). Closest I've ever come to this is looking up a RR recipe for lemonade I saw her make on the Food Network website some time later.

Dinner (maybe date) with very old friend...

I like the Union Square Cafe, just around the corner from the Blue Water Grill. And on a date, it's busy enough to be interesting, but quiet enough that you can talk.

Best Fondue in America?

There's a fondue chain, called something like 'The Melting Pot'. Are they any good? Is there better fondue at individual restaurants across America, or is this a chain because it's the best?

Top Chef, Season 2 - no more Katie Robot!

So glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought she was bland. We would compare her to Howie Mandel, who is everything you want in a host. She always seemed like she was along for the ride-- if this was a 3 ring circus, she was the girl on top of the elephant, not the ring master. Hope they get someone with more backbone and personality!
