What Is America's Worst Restaurant Chain?

I'm originally from NYC and completely agree with you! The only time I ever ate there, I didn't make it a mile down the road before I had to make an emergency restroom stop. I barely made it in before emptying my entire digestive system. NEVER AGAIN! Lol

What Is America's Worst Restaurant Chain?

I totally agree. I truly would not eat at Subway if I was starving. About 2 yrs ago I read an online article about them that literally turned my stomach. I swore off Subway and have never gone since. The smell is sickening.. no matter what is ordered, you walk out smelling the same.. artificial & chemical. NASTY.

What Is America's Worst Restaurant Chain?

In 'n Out may be greasy fast food, but is all 100% fresh and made to order. It's widely known to have been Julia Child's favorite hamburger ;)

Nacho Cheese Pumpkin Seeds

I've made my own cheese powders using my food dehydrator! You can use just about any semi-hard to hard cheese, grated as finely as possible and then dehydrated! Blitz in your coffee or herb grinder and viola!

Spicy Oven-Roasted Chickpeas

By now anyone who read the posts knows you have to 1) DRY these suckers WELL before baking 2) SHAKE them frequently whilst baking 3) toss with minimal oil and season immediately AFTER baking while still hot. These three steps will almost guarantee a perfect result. I also suggest watching your oven temp carefully.. I usually go with 350 and roast slightly longer (60 min). If you can't take the spicy-heat, try a combo of olive oil, sea salt, Cumin, garlic and lemon/lime zest.. MARVELOUS!

Dill Dip

Made this as per the recipe with the addition of one small, finely gated carrot.. it was Delicious! The carrot gave it a little crunch and a much needed POP of color! Some of my guests used it as a dip for the Asian style Teriyaki Wings I had out too ;) A must try!

..oops!! That can says "The Classic Flavor EnhanceR". Still think that's a riot tho.. and definitely something that was a staple in our childhood home (and Mom was considered the neighborhood 'gourmet', tho she won't touch the stuff now... lol. We all live and learn!

Cheesy Baked Rice

During the 2 years I've had this recipe it's been tweaked several times to adjust to our liking. Dare I say the "end result" (because who knows what will come of it in the future) goes something like this: knock the oven temp back to 325° and start the recipe in a very large cast iron skillet. Use a *large* sweet onion and follow the rest of the recipe to a T. Instead of pouring into a baking dish, cover the skillet with foil and slide into oven. When it's time to remove the foil, gently stir in some cooked, chopped bacon (taking care not to scrape the bottom or sides of the pan) then top with remaining cheese and finish baking as directed. Using the cast iron pan results in a crispy bottom & edges and a soft, creamy center.. a little of something for everyone! I promise you will wonder why you hadn't thought of it sooner! I've also used finely diced left over ham in place of the bacon with killer reviews! Bon appetit.. y'all ;)

What's your "secret ingredient?"

After really thinking about, I would say my SI is most definitely NUTRITIONAL YEAST!! I add it to anything and everything. I was turned on to it years ago when I changed lifestyles and started cutting out *most* carbs, looking instead to protein, grains & veg. When I say I add it to everything.. I mean EVERYTHING!! If its not included in the making of the dish, then it's sprinkled on top!! lol I just love the stuff!! It's got a buttery, nutty almost cheesy taste to it and the flakes sort of melt away on top of anything moist & warm. I could go on...... :)

What's your "secret ingredient?"

I have recently fallen head over heals in love with FREEZE DRIED GARLIC. It's different than any other type of dried garlic I've ever tasted (whether granulated, powdered, salted, etc.) and you would SWEAR it's fresh! That's how great it is!! I use it for EVERYTHING now! I personally love garlic salt as a finishing salt for many things and now I make my own. So many of us have salt grinders/mills ... try this! 1/3 large crystal sea salt to 2/3 FD garlic. I add a generous amount of dried parsley to the mix.. but use to taste. Mix it up and pour into the salt mill. You will not believe how much better it is over the pre-mixed store bought types. TOO GOOD!!

Carrot Chips

This may be an obvious solution, but how about just making up a second batch with any "leftover" carrot scrapings? Seems like a no-brainer to me! :)

Water That's Less Boring

I've had the Spearmint variety and for me it was waaaay too minty.. overwhelmingly so in fact. I was disappointed because I was SO intrigued, but now that I see other, less offensive offerings, I might return to the "mint" watering hole! It seems to me the "chill factor" MetroMint speaks of is a rating system for the level of mint strength, not the temperature of the water. WOW! Peppermint rates a 9 on the scale.. I'd imagine it might be like a swig of mouthwash! LOL
