Interesting restaurants in Dupont Circle vicinity?

Banana Leaves in Dupont Circle has great Thai dishes (sushi too), and was great when I went. The Banana Leaves Rice was delicious.

Dinner for ~10, Dupont/Logan/U St

Bens Next Door and Eatonville both take reservations (both in the U Street area). The food at both places has been great in all of my experiences. The coconut cake at Eatonville is AMAZING. Both have decent beer selections, nothing spectacular but enough to satisfy the majority of tastes.

Coffee, Tea & Me, Melrose

I miss Bohemian Coffeehouse so much. I used to live right over the border in Malden and I was there often. They had fantastic homemade baked goods, and many were gluten free even. There coffee and lattes were awesome too. Man, I wish I lived close by still.

Wegman's- looks like it's really happening?

I don't know about anybody else but I am SUPER EXCITED about Wegmans. It will take me about an hour to get there but I don't care. I love Wegmans. Love it, love it. I've been to one near Syracuse (it must not be the same one mentioned below, because it was huge) and one in Virginia. And as several people mentioned, it can't even begin to compare to Stop and Shop. I certainly won't be going there on a weekly basis or anything, but I will definitely be going. My sister lives in Marlborough and I already told her we're going there the week it opens :)

Bachelorette party and bar crawl for a foodie

If you end up in the area of Beehive, 28 Degrees has some pretty great drinks. And if you need to soak up some of the alcohol later that night, their truffle parmesan fries are delish. In addition, Masa has a habanero watermelon margarita that is to die for :)

Boston Kitchen Nightmares... And the nominees are.....

Sorry, I meant Congress Street, not A Street.

Boston Kitchen Nightmares... And the nominees are.....

I have to disagree with Blue Wave (if you're referring to the place on A Street), mainly due to the fact that it is predominately a bar/club, not a restaurant. If you've ever been on a Friday or Saturday night the place is packed, and it's one of the few places in Boston that places decent hip-hop, R&B, and reggae on a consistent basis.

While the food isn't spectacular, it's decent for an after work crowd. I don't like their nachos at all (they use cheese whiz type stuff instead of real cheese), but every else I've had was passable. The fries are awesome too :)

The Best Thing I Ever Ate - moved from Boston board

That would be the best thing ever, I lust over that dish. It was so delicious. About $50 but worth every single penny.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate - moved from Boston board

I have to add, though, that the Sally Burger from Sally O'Brien's in Somerville is a close second for the best burger ever.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate - moved from Boston board

It's a three-way tie:

soy-ginger halibut with baby bok choy, from a now defunct restaurant called AZ in NYC

bacon swiss cheeseburger from Bar 89 in NYC--hands down, without a doubt the best cheeseburgers I've ever had, and I've tried them in many places across the country--had them from Bar 89 about 4 times now and it's still the best

the 3 styles of fish from Roy's in Waikiki Beach--AMAZING

Recent Burgers

I really really love the Sally Burger at Sally O'Brien's in Union Square. It's my favorite burger in the Boston area (the best burger I ever had was at Bar 89 in NYC). It has swiss cheese, bacon, sauteed onions, and mushrooms. So freakin good. I want one right now :)

New Trader Joe's yea/nay thread - 1st quarter 2010 [OLD]

I could eat the Thai shrimp gyoza every day and not get sick of them. SO GOOD. I also love the mini seafood crab cakes and the dark chocolate pretzels. And I always buy my apples there, they are cheaper there than any other grocery store. The only place I can find them cheaper are the bags of Macintosh apples at Target.

Do you have a favorite cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory?

I lust over the Godiva and the key lime cheesecake. Of course, I don't usually order it cause I get full after less than half. I want some key lime cheesecake now though :)

The Times Irish Pub

It's a pretty-low key place. I've only been a few times, but those few times it wasn't nearly as crowded and rowdy as most Fanueil Hall area bars tend to get. The food is decent too, the burgers are pretty good. And beer is pretty cheap.

Jelly Belly jelly beans

Well, I believe you'd have to take a bus, not the T, but there is a Jelly Belly store in the Jordan's Furniture complex in Reading. The 136 and 137 buses leave from Malden Center and Oak Grove and stop on the street that is in front of Jordans.

Little Q Update?

It's on Hancock Street right past Billings Rd. I forget the name of it but it's just a few storefronts up past the intersection (going towards the North Quincy T stop) on the left side.

Best Boston Burger

Sally O'Briens in Union Square has the second best burger I've ever had in my life. It's called the Sally Special Pub Burger and it's fantastic. I tried a burger at RF O'Sullivan's, and the Sally Special blows their burgers away.

They have a great beer selection too.

The best burger I've had is not in Boston, unfortunately. But if you're ever in NYC hit up Bar 89 and try their burgers. Phenomenal.

Phantom Gourmet and TV Diner

I truly think people should just take Phantom Gourmet at face value. It's entertainment, and it makes you hungry watching it. Well, at least it does make me hungry watching it at 10 am on a Saturday when I've been out to 2 am the night before :) It gives me a few suggestions for some places I might normally not be aware of, but I don't for a second think that's its going to be a real gourmet, foodie type experience. It's something to watch. That's it. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

What's The One Thing You Can't Eat, even for money.

For me, it's mayonnaise in ANY form. Homemade, generic, gourmet, Miracle Whip, etc. I cannot stomach it all. The very smell of it makes me sick to my stomach.

On a positive note, when my family has spring and summer parties it's pretty easy to watch what I eat because so many things have mayo in them. And those things don't tempt me in the least bit. I'd rather go hungry, actually.

Stonewall Kitchen Holiday Jam

I found Holiday Jam at The Paper Store in Waltham. It is tasty stuff :) I recommend it. I haven't been able to find either Holiday Tea or the other version that is made by Republic of Tea but I haven't looked very hard either.

On a side note, I managed to get my Farmhouse Chutney open, finally. It was really really good. I was planning on using it for a curried cheese spread I was going to make for a family party but I am a dumba*s and left it out overnight after I opened it so I had to toss it. Ah well :) I can always buy some more!

starbucks 20% off

There's a ton of stuff that's 20% off too. And if you have the Starbucks Gold Card (I recevied a free one, so I didn't have to pay the $25 initial fee), you get an additional 10% off. I got a half pound of Christmas Blend as part of a gift for my sister and it only ended up costing about $5.

What's The One Thing You Can't Eat, even for money.

Eggs (except for omelets and quiches--but the other ingredients need to overpower the eggy taste)

Mayonnaise/Miracle Whip--disgusting disgusting disgusting in any incarnation. I am throwing up a little in my mouth just thinking about it. Bleccch!!! I can't even eat any kind of salad (i.e. chicken salad) if it has even the tiniest bit of mayo.

Vanilla flavored foods
White chocolate (it's not even chocolate--what's the point?)
Gamey meat (venison, rabbit, etc)
Goat cheese
Fast food

If you paid me enough I would eat of any of the above things. But it would take a WHOLE LOT. I'd probably eat goat cheese for the least amount--the rest I would really have to consider :)

Stonewall Kitchen Holiday Jam

So long as I can still find it, I am picking up a jar this weekend and I will report back. I am also hoping to find the Republic of Tea Holiday Tea but we'll see.

I have a jar of the Farmhouse Chutney but despite my best efforts I CANNOT get the jar open so I have yet to taste it. I go to the gym and do free weights but yet I can't even get a stupid jar open. Oh well. C'est la vie.

There were piles of Holiday Jam at the Paper Store in Bedford? I know both of those places sell Stonewall Kitchen but I am looking for that particular product. Thanks!

Stonewall Kitchen Holiday Jam

Has anybody seen this seasonal item recently anywhere they sell Stonewall Kitchen? I know that Paper Source, Roche Brothers, and Whole Foods (amoung others) sell their products but I wasn't sure if any of those places carry the seasonal products. I can get to these stores, but none of them are really convenient so I'd rather know for sure before I go :)

I know I can order it online, but before I do that, i thought I'd check with fellow Chowhounders to see if anybody had noticed it. It sounds delicious/

visiting friend wants to see celebrities - where would you take her?

Q-Tip (from A Tribe Called Quest) was sitting next to me at Nobu (on Hudson Street). He was extremely friendly to the few people that approached him. I was pretty psyched to see him, as a long time hip-hop fan, but I didn't actually go over to him.

Peppermint extract in Arlington/Cambridge area?

I for some reason have two bottles of peppermint extract, it's the McCormick version but it's most definitely peppermint extract, not flavoring. Any grocery store should have it, I got mine at Stop and Shop

ISO Castries Peanut Rum Creme

Does anybody know where I can find Castries Peanut Rum Creme in the Boston area? I read a thread about a peanut butter chocolate martin on Boston Yelp and now I am on a search to make one! I searched Google and I can't find anything, and their website doesn't have any distributors in MA:

http://www.castriescreme.com/

I found a link on Google that says they started in MA on 10/01/08 but there wasn't any more information. Thanks in advance!

New Trader Joe's items

Seriously, who does that? Would you go into Stop and Shop (or whatever the major chain in Baltmore is) and open something to try it, then leave the box? I'm pretty sure you might get charged with shoplifting. With such a liberal return policy, just bring it home FIRST, then try it. If you don't like, then return it. And by the way, referring to somebody as a sample slave is really demeaning. Jesus.
