Gordon Ramsay in Edmonton

Was at 100 afterwards for a few bottles of Vino as well. He hung out there for about another hour, then was chased off by the crowds.

where to find creme fraiche in Edmonton, AB

Italian Centre has it

Are Bone In Filets really fillets?

agreed, my copy of Larousse G says the same thing, as does my meat cutting text from culinary school.

Where to buy Alberta lamb in Edmonton?

Lots of grainfed lamb around in the world if you look for it, produces a more mild flavor(dependant on where its from.... opinions differ on this), though it is higher in fat and lower in % protein then grass-fed. Most people tend to prefer grass-fed, but there are some very nice grain-fed lamb producers that I personally prefer.

Trying to find good beef in Edmonton

Wild Earth Grochery on 99th sells spring creek ranch beef.... pretty sure it's never been frozen... smokin iron farms usually has fresh beef from local suppliers as well. Wild Game supplies(not sure if they do small orders, its where we get all our beef for the restaurant I work at), Sherwood meats... lots of butcher shops around if you look............. even many threads on this very site..........................

Thanks in advance,

Later Night Eats in Edmonton:

Awesome, thank you guys for the feedback. After getting off a long shift cooking for people, its so discouraging not being able to find decent food. I'll have to give chinatown a try. I really wish Edmonton was like many other cities, and had Great food later in the evening, even Calgary seems to have a much better chance.

Later Night Eats in Edmonton:

Hey, just wondering if anyone had any great little finds for later evening(10pm and on) eats in Edmonton. I work in the industry, and am rarely off before that time, and after a long service, sometimes have trouble wanting to go home and cook for myself.

We eat at Cafe Select frequently(closes at midnight m-t, and 2am on f/s), but am really having trouble find other decent food around that time, and as of such, often end up at Joeys/Moxies/Earls.

Any help would be great,
thanks

Culina - Edmonton

I also was at Culina last night for the Bison short ribs, and can echo the response. The golden balsamic, tomato and romaine salad was great, the fried capers really added a lot the the flavor, though ours didn't have any onions in it :(.

Loved the bison, though for being a chipotle tomato sauce, I felt it could have had a bit more kick to it, but our Bison was amazingly tender and not dry at all.

I totally echo the sentiment on the desert, a stronger chocolate taste would have definately made a huge impact on the meal.

Do love it though, Sunday family nights are becomming a tradition for me.

Century Grill, Edmonton

I had an absolutly horrid meal there a couple Fridays ago. My SO responded with feedback for them, to which they promptly responded(chef emailed/phoned), and invited us back for a make-up meal. With both Sarah and I being Chef's, we may have a bit higher standard then the average guest, but what they served us on Friday was horrid. Bison short ribs that were so tough I couldn't cut them with a steak knife, risotto that was mushy at best, a "bombe" desert that was more like a frozen mouse... Server was very inattentive(7 table section, 3 billed when we got there, 2 more starting deserts, so no real excuse). It might have been our age(both early 20's), but it was more like we were a bother, rather then a customer.

We are willing to give them another shot, as I've heard decent things about services there before. Heres hoping!

Edmonton Pizza

I think that the pizza at Parkallan is the best in the city... I used to live right around the corner from there, and made it a weekly ritual to go and have some pizza... Their lebanese is fantastic too, and what a wine list for such a little place.

For thin crust, and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, I love Tony's in the North East, fantastic pizza, great atmosphere.

Thanks for all the other ideas though, I'm going to have to check out Victoria Pizza and Ragazzi.

edmonton lunch on saturday

Culina Cafe on 99th Stree and 88th Ave is fantastic for Saturday brunch and lunch...

Food shopping in Edmonton

Alberta Beef in Edmonton

Probably pretty late, but Culina on 99th Street and 89th ave, serves Silver Creek Ranch beef exclusively.... Have a great sirloin on chocolate blue cheese sauce that keeps me comming back. The IGA just around the corner also carries Silver Creek Ranch beef in tons of different cuts. Its become my new meat spot in the city...
