lunch spots in the Lancaster, MA area
I like the Old Timer restaurant in Clinton. Very charming atmosphere, decent food, and a relaxing, comfortable spot overall. Mostly pub grub and American food.

Not sure about picnic food in Scituate, but the Barker Tavern is a very romantic old spot that has traditional American food--nice place for dinner.
The park area by lighthouse in Scituate is a great place to have a picnic, by the way.
Cafe Sushi Cambridge
I go to the one in Brookline, but haven't been to the Cambridge location yet. Their chilled fruit roll is outstanding, IMO.
More Pizza: Ninos on Charles St. Beacon Hill
I like going to Ninos every now and then, though lately I've been going to Villa Mexico instead. But the pizza is definitely good--much better than that of your typical sub shop.

Brunello Bistro is going to be replaced by Brunello Brazilian Steakhouse and Buffet, which means that this will apparently be the third restaurant from the same owners in the past couple of years (Bread and Company had been here previously).

Maybe get sandwiches, drinks, and desserts from Vanilla Bean Cafe in Pomfret, CT (75 minutes from Boston) and bring them over to one of the beautiful ponds at Bigelow Hollow in Union, which is about 15 miles west (and near Route 84, which would get you back to Brookline in an hour). Lots of activity all of a sudden--West Bridge opens today in Cambridge, J.P. just opened in Beacon Hill, Maggie's Farm(!) has opened in Middleton, and Life Alive is now open in Salem.

Damnit. I'm heading to South Station tonight and was hoping to hit Taiwan Cafe beforehand if it was reopened.

Conrad's in Norwood Center is a good place for pub grub and American food (their steak tips are outstanding). Further down the road in Walpole is Guido's, which is a decent Italian spot. If you want to do something just a little nicer (but still casual), there's the Noon Hill Grill in Medfield, which isn't too far from there.

Jonathan's opened in Newton a few days ago, Doc Popcorn opened at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, and Rosa Mexicano opens for dinner tonight in the Seaport District.
