best restaurants for solo traveler?

Empire State South is great for solo dining! And if the weather is nice you can sit outside. And you can walk from the W.

iconic spots for newcomers

Friends are traveling to NYC in March and have never been.
They asked me for iconic Manhattan restaurants, whether it's pizza or high end.
I'm sure there are some links to previous posts.
Any thoughts or links?
Thanks.

chicken pieces in slow cooker

Great idea, but no time today and no ingredients. Hence the slow cooker plan.

chicken pieces in slow cooker

I have 2 split breasts and 4 drumsticks (one of the TJs organic packs).
Can all of this go in the slow cooker, despite the white and dark meat mix?
If so, any suggestions for the slow cooker? I have some thai curry sauce which might work well.
Thanks.

Meyer lemons

We have two meyer lemons that we grew with our own small plant.
They are sooo cute.
Anyway, what's the best way to use the juice, zest, etc. to feature the lemon?

Can you freeze it?
They are 1/2 lb triangle wedges.
Thanks.

Pepper oil on hands

I sliced some green banana peppers tonight that were hotter than I expected.
I've washed my hands numerous times but there is still hot oil remnants.
I just tried taking out my contacts. Ouch!
Any suggestions?

scorched tomato sauce

We made a tomato sauce tonight with fresh home grown peppers, oregano and basil from the garden, and canned San Marzano tomatoes.

In the cooking process, on our crappy electric flat stove top (please Santa bring me a gas stove), we basically scorched the peppers that were on the bottom of pan, and some burned bits made it into the sauce.

So, the flavor is less like an italian marinara sauce, and more like a smoky pablano (not hot) tomato sauce. Obviously not what we were expecting. A bit odd.

Any suggestions for mellowing out the smoky flavor?

Any suggestions for use?

breakfast in Hickory, NC

WH is probably going to be it. However, Granny's Country Kitchen looks like a winner.....food probably not as consistent as Waffle House.

No reservations

I recently sat at the bar by myself at Ma Peche.
Easy and not crowded.
I wish I could have those pork buns right now!

4 hours in Atlanta

What about Empire State South. I can imagine hanging there for a few hours. Try the cocktails, the veg, the jars, play some bocce ball...

4 hours in Atlanta

Well why would you want to sit in one spot for 4 hours. Go to Decatur and hit a bunch of spots. Brickstore, Leon's, Cakes and Ale, etc.

Heading to Mesa this week for a family event. Any worthy new additions to Mesa? Mexican, or local places? On the cheaper side is good.
