BBQ a turkey
Hi,just a simple covered kettle.I was told to put a pan under the turkey for the drippings and spread the coals around.Add coals as it cooks about 15 min per pound.What do think?Any other ideas?Thanks
My oven is broken
Its so old they don't make the part anymore.I am having Thanksgiving at my house so I thought I would BBQ the Turkey.Have no idea. How long? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Taco truck on rose
in Venice.Had the taco de carnitas.Sat in my car and said to myself "O my god" this is the best taco I've ever had.The pork was Crisp on the outside,tender with chopped onions,cilantro.Served on the side grilled onions and roasted chile's.The guy next to me was eating a cerviche tostado that looked really good.Thats what I'm getting next.

Casa Sanchez on Centinela in Mar Vista has an amazing mariachi band.The restaurant has a stage.The food is good.The atmosphere is fun.Worth the drive.Mariachi's only Fri,Sat,Sun.

There is a sushi restaurant on Abbot Kinney in Venice that only uses brown rice.Sorry can't remember the name .Something like shino.Maybe somone else knows.The food is very good.Pricey.
Alternatives to "LOBSTER" with a view?
There arn't any really good seafood restaurants around here with a view.You have to find the View and hope for the best.Mostly your grilled fish type nothing fancy.The Charthouse on P.C.H,The Penthouse(for a view) they probably have a good fish.

Why not try coming to Venice we have a few good restaurants.Joe's,Axe,Capri,Wabi Sabi(sp) Beechwood on Abbot Kinney.Chaya Venice,Chinios(Wolfgang Pucks)on Main Street in Santa Monica.A few cool bars-Hals Bar and The Otherroom on Abbot Kinney.

Chaya Venice on Main St in Santa Monica is fun-a big scene- and the food is good.Primitivo on Abbot kinney.I like Hals Bar on Abbot Kinney the Venice Artist and locals go there.The Border Grill on 4th street in Santa Monica has good food and is fun.The Penthouse on 2nd st in Santa Monica - its at the top of the Hotel and has an amazing view-go for a drink and watch the sunset.

Hi Carter,Had a good dinner last night.Your right new ownership and -surprise- the employees bought the restaurant.Food is the same.Our waiter recommended the fillet mignon with peppercorn sauce.Very good-and he was the nicest person I ever met.

Have been to Baby showers,engagements,weddings and birthdays at" Capri" on Abbot Kinney in Venice.Very nice.They are not open for lunch -----so it would be a private party.

Go to Hals Bar on Abbot Kinney in Venice for a great brunch or lunch for good food and people watching.The Venice locals go there.Its a big scene at night.Down the street there is a bar called "The Other room" Fun.

The Hungry Cat on Hollywood and Vine has great fresh squeezed juice cocktails. I believe the owner is the husband of the women that owns AOC..Hungry Cat has a Cute little bar and Great food.I"m sure they will make it sin alcohol.

Definitely Angelina Osteria,Apple Pan,Pizzeria Mozza.Border Grill is fun and I like the food.I would add The Lobster on Santa Monica pier Great view of the California coastline even if its just for a drink.Kids can have a coke.
Falafel mix-Give me ideas
I add cilantro,chopped scallions to the mix and make falafel's I fry the balls in olive oil to make them crunchy.Top with yogurt,tomato and chopped mint(on pita bread).

The Real Food Daily cookbook has some good recipes.Ideas-Butternut squash,corn,and cilantro phyllo rolls-Seitan enchiladas with salsa verde, Seitan tacos,Tofu quiche with leeks and asparagus and Tempeh meat loaf.My daughter is vegan.We tried these recipes and loved them.To long to write the ingredients but maybe you can find it online.
