Breakfast in So. Westchester - Larchmont, Pelham, New Rochelle, Bronxville, Mt. Vernon?
We like M.A.D. cafe...especially if you like coffee and lattes. One place I will wholeheartedly steer you away from is IHOP (across from Fairway in Pelham). God awful!
Bakery in Lower Westchester -- Need a great birthday cake!
Check out Chantilly in Bronxville, as I've heard from two friends that their treats are delightful. I used to be a fan of La Renaissance...but I feel they have gone downhill over the past 3 years or so. Nothing tastes as good as it used to and the service has diminished.

Re: Fleetwood Bakery, I like their Napoleon layer cake and their strawberry shortcake.
Spillanes coming to Fleetwood?
Dear Moron66:
Do you live in Fleetwood? I know for sure that my family and our neighbors will absolutely frequent the place! Who do you think lives in Fleetwood????
re: "the people that live there would never support the place"
Good Caterer in Westchester County
Hi - need a caterer asap for a dinner party. Lower Westchester. Any suggestions? thanks
Off Property Dining - Boca Raton Beach Club
We're staying for several days at the Boca Resort next week. I'm not familiar with the area at all. Can you please recommend a spot for breakfast, a spot for lunch, and several spots for dinner/drinks? We don't have a car and I'm not sure how close things are down there (coming from NY). Thanks for any info/suggestions you can share. If anyone has any comments on the inhouse dining options, I would appreciate those as well. Cheers!

Sonoran Hot Dog in NYC?
I'll be watching your post. Did you see that piece on Sonoran Hot Dogs on CBS Sunday Morning this week?
Vietnamese in NYC
Thanks for weighing in, everyone. We ended up at Lan Cafe on East 6th. The decor was nothing at all. The food was fine but not spectacular. We had the fresh spring rolls with dipping sauce and the papaya salad. The salad was the better of the two starters, although both were really fresh and light on a hot day. For entrees we got a vegetarian pho, which was good albeit a little cinnamon-y. Second entree was #36 -- lemongrass seitan on vermicelli noodles with peanuts and vegetables. BYOB - no liquor license. Inexpensive. Dinner was $36 but we did not order any drinks. Worth a try if you are walking by and craving Vietnamese...

Vietnamese in NYC
Dinner for two this evening, and we're hoping for Vietnamese. One of use lives on the UES and the other works in Gramercy. Can anyone recommend some good Vietnamese restaurants? Our main objective is good food. And a place where we can sit and catch up so no take-out only spots. thanks.

Restaurant Suggestion for Friday -- Oysters or Italian small plates
Visiting family from out of town and will picking up husband at South Station on Friday evening. He's looking for a spot for either a) raw oysters and a nice beer or b) Italian small plates (cheese, charcuterie, antipasti) and wine. Do you have any suggestions? We have a car and can drive to any surrounding areas like Cambridge if need be. thanks in advance.
Lunch recommendation for today - between Gramercy and Chelsea
Hi all -- looking for a healthy lunch spot for two. Would like it to be sit down and not take away. Healthy salads or fish preferred. Any ideas?
Ocho Rios, Jamiaca
Andy recent updates to this posting. Leaving for a week in Ochos Rios next month...
Girls' Trip to Louisville
Hi y'all - we're coming down from NYC for 4 days to hear some country music at the end of the month. Will be staying at the Galt with no car. Looking for some breakfast, lunch and dinner spots closeby (or short cab ride/bus ride). Husbands and kids are not in tow. Just the ladies (4). I've printed out some other posts but was wondering if anyone had any up-to-the-minute suggestions. We like all cuisines. Food quality over ambience. Not interested in romantic or "NY" dining. Would like to embrace the local cuisine for at least part of our stay. thanks!
Indian restaurants on Lexington Avenue
Hi CH - I'm looking for a good Indian spot for lunch or an early dinner. I'll be dining alone. Mostly looking for yummy food. I have no dietary limitations. Have not eaten around there in years so I am at a loss. thanks for suggestions.
Dinner spot near Affinia Hotel for Friday night

Dinner spot near Affinia Hotel for Friday night
Coming to town for a wedding. Have lunch reservations at Frontera Grill on Friday. Now we'd like to have a few places in mind for dinner close to the hotel (166 East Superior Street). We are very flexible -- not looking for a huge meal since lunch will be heartily enjoyed and we're meeting up with the wedding party around 9pm for drinks. All cuisines enjoyed. Please let me know if you have a recommendation. thanks

Best Italian
I will definitely report back on Wing Lei. Now I've got my work cut out for me doing some research on the italian recs. thanks everyone.
Best Italian
Heading to Vegas to celebrate my big 4-0. We have reservations at Wing Lei one night for the duck tasting menu. I'd like some assistance choosing an Italian restaurant. All suggestions/descriptions welcome. thanks
40th Birthday - Just the Guys
thanks for both recommendations. I'm looking into both. I've heard of MT but not of Freeman's.
40th Birthday - Just the Guys
I'm surprising DH with a dinner out with some close friends around his 40th birthday. Any suggestions? We lived in the City years ago so the only places we really know of now are either corporate-ish expense account restaurants or "date" places. Any advice from some of you male Chow Hounders out there? A fun, guys place with good food & drink!
Staying at Westin Diplomat on Hollywood Beach. Any great restaurants in the area?
Heading back to the Diplomat without a car (will take cabs or walk) and looking for more restaurant recommendations. We liked Lola's on Harrison & had a fun night at Opa (although nothing spectacular here). Great lunch at Il Mulino one day. Anything more? Would like to try new places this time.

been to johnny's pizzeria, mt. vernon?
FYI for those who plan to try it out: CASH only
been to johnny's pizzeria, mt. vernon?
If you like thin crust pizza I would definitely recommend Johnny's in Mt Vernon. The staff is surly and dining there is a completely lackluster experience. You go for the pizza. Period. Forget about bringing it home -- it does not travel well.
Top ethnic eats in lower Westchester?
I also heard Shiraz is good but have not checked it out yet. Another I recently heard about is the Portuguese restaurant in Hartsdale. I think it's called Porto? For thai, we like Red Lotus in New Rochelle. And Coromandel for Indian in New Rochelle.
Oktoberfest: where to enjoy...
Oktoberfest starts September 18th this year. Has anyone heard what's going on in Westchester to celebrate & enjoy? I've found lots of stuff going on the city but wishing there were some local options as well. thanks
