freezing doughs
I freeze pizza dough. I spray inside of ziplock bags with oil spray and store enough dough for a single pizza. I then thaw and use. So far have had no problems.
How do you organize your cookbooks?
I tried EYB but they do not have most of the cookbooks that I own. I was wondering if anyone know of an internet site or IPOD application where I can track the recipes from my cookbooks that I want to reference.
Brunch - West End of Montreal for 80th birthday
Hi,
Finally my in-laws decided they didn't want to have brunch but wanted a restaurant that served lunch. We finally ended up at Madison's because it was one of the few restaruants that was opened for lunch on Sunday.
Thanks for your help. Will definitely try out our suggestions.
Kitchen design advice
Hi,
My friend had the same dilemma with her refrigerator. Her kitchen designer suggested she cut out part of the wall in order to slide the refrigerator in. She now has full depth refrigerator that looks built in. It also avoided extra costs associated with deepening the cabinets.
Hope this helps.
Cookbooks you shouldn't have purchased...which books just didn't work for you?

Brunch - West End of Montreal for 80th birthday
Hi,
Am looking for a great restaurant for brunch (10 people) for my father-in-laws 80th birthday. Anywhere on the west part of the island from Dorval to Vaudreauil.
I tried Chateau Vaudreauil and they are completely booked.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Help with the in-laws
My husband and I also come from different backgrounds. Why don't you talk to them. Tell them exactly what you mentioned. That you miss your holiday food and love spending the holiday with them. You can then work on the menu together. We've had holiday meals that included three different traditions. It felt strange for everyone at first but everyone was happy at the end,
How to spice up Bean Rice Casserole without using tomatoes ?
Finally got a Bean rice casserole that everyone liked. It had gotten to the point that they refused to try another one. It was a mixture of the suggestions that I received.
1 - Browned the onions with salt, pepper and cayenne pepper.
2 - Add canned fava beans (canned variety, drained and rinced). Added them to the onions. Added more cayenne pepper and a pinch of salt.
3 - Cooked rice in microwave with chicken bouillon cube with a little extra water. So that rice was slightly liquidy when cooked.
4 - Added rice and leftover roasted chicken to pan containing onions and beans. Heated through until liquid from rice was absorbled.
5 - Moved the whole to a baking pan - covered lightly with a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar cheese and baked until cheese melted.
Thank you once again for your suggestions.

How to spice up Bean Rice Casserole without using tomatoes ?
Hi, It's a pre-mixed seasoning spice by Zinda. It contains Chili, Coriander, Cumin, Black Pepper, maize flour, ginger and tumeric.
Listing the ingredients, it should have added more flavor than it did. Maybe I did not add enough.

How about quartz countertop? Am thinking of redoing kitchen counters and would like to install quartz but was going to go with a slab of marble for kneading dough.
Should I skip marble slab and just use the quartz countertop?
Year old frozen turkey
Same thing happened to me. I defrosted it in cold water and put the whole thing in a large pot and covered it with water, chunks of onions, carrots and celery. Seasoned with salt and pepper. It made a great stew.
How to spice up Bean Rice Casserole without using tomatoes ?
Made a Bean Rice casserole with Fava, Chick beans, celery and sauteed onions. I used a little couscous spice, salt and pepper for flavoring. Then put the whole in the oven with mozzarella sprinkled on the top. It was good but very bland.
Most of the recipes on the net suggest adding tomatoes or tomatoe sauce but members of my family are alergic to them.
Any suggestions or recipes ?

Pick's vs Buns: Burgers
Your post piqued my interest so I decided to try out Buns when I went by it. The menu was simple but the food was great.
I'm surprised that you are comparing it to Pick's since they seem to be two different types of restaurants. One very simple and the other lots of choices.
I will try Pick's next.
Thanks for the tip.

Best French Toast Recipe?
I have a very simple recipe for French Toast.
In a shallow dish:
Use 1 egg per 2 slices of any kind of bread. I prefer challah or italian (best day old).
Add some milk (to dilute egg),
Season with salt (as used to season eggs) and cinnamon
Mix with fork
Dunk bread slices in egg mixture and cook on griddle pan sprayed with cooking oil.
Flip as required for even cooking.
Since we love cinnamon at my house, I usually sprinkle more cinnamon while cooks.
Have fun.
